Tarbert is sleepy on a Thursday night so we went to the Anchor for a meal. Best decision ever! Staff were lovely, wine list was fab, but the food - amazing!! Mussels were the best ever and the scallops not far behind. The smoked haddock risotto was delicious. If you get a chance , try here - you won't be disappointed!!

We stayed for one night what a lovely hotel. From check-in until we left the staff were exceptional. We had a room with a view of the harbour which was nice. Room had everything you need. We booked for dinner and were not disappointed. Cullen skink and mussels to start then smoked haddock and mussels for a main followed by lemon meringue pie. It was all beautiful and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was really nice with plenty of choice. We visit Tarbert regularly and will definitely return.

Had to change our arrival time and departure time due to a teenager forgetting to tell us about exams… Ross the owner was more than accommodating and took our last minute changes with good grace and humour. The staff were friendly and efficient and made us feel at home. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of choice. We’d definitely recommend the Anchor for a stay; relaxed atmosphere, great customer service and a great menu

We arrived after 8pm by the time we checked in and made our way down to the dining room it was 8:25pm - last orders for the kitchen are 8:30pm - we were served! Dinner was good and exceptionally good value. There was a snag with the heating in our room and bathroom. The receptionist gave us an electric heater for the bedroom- worked well although the bathroom was still cold. Breakfast was fine. The hotel was renovated some years ago and would benefit from a refresh - tough of independent operators with rising costs - comfortable- great night’s sleep - very good service - would happily recommend and stay again

Just spent two nights at the Anchor, we were in room 3 overlooking the harbour which is great. Our room was compact, lovely bed great sleep. The adjoining restaurant was excellent with a great choice of sea food and well priced. All the staff were very engaging and made our stay a pleasure. One downside was the towel rail in our bathroom which you need to replace as it does not work and is covered in rust. All in all a great place to spend two nights.

planned a short motorbike trip through Argyll & Arran with 9 colleagues, staying overnight in Tarbert. Weather & trip were excellent, but our unexpected highlight was our stay at the Anchor. Support for booking was 2nd to none, rooms were compact but modern & clean. Restaurant set up a large table for us, which was fantastic (recommend booking as it is very popular) . The staff were amazing throughout & we were made to feel like special guests. staff from bigger/more expensive places should stay here to see it should be done! If ever back in Tarbert area 100% will stay & eat here!

Management friendly and accommodating and rooms clean and comfortable. Convenient to city attractions and ferry to Islay. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend. And one of the best parts of the stay is that you have an amazing restaurant as part of the hotel. Only negative is that the stairs are steep, narrow and long to get to your room.

A nostalgic week in beautiful Tarbert Loch Fyne, the birth place of my father, to learn more about family history. Innkeeper Ross and his team gave wonderful service and helped with leads and contacts that made me learn so much. The room was comfortable, with a wonderful view of the harbour. Evening meals were a special treat. I won't forget the Langoustines or the venison. But I think the kippers for breakfast might be an acquired taste and was not game to try the haggis. Thank you Ross and the very friendly and helpful team at the Anchor for an incredible week.
