Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing service from Beryl, we stayed for a couple of nights with our dog and couldn't have been better looked after. Would highly recommend (fantastic fry up too)! A real home away from home and very handy location. Great value for money as well

Had a lovely stay at Gwynfa - perfect location just a few minutes walk from the main high street and all amenities. And just across the road from Aldi so was able to pick up some groceries for the rest of my trip. It's just a 5 minute drive from Porthmadog Golf Club so perfect for any golfing nomads planning a trip in this area. Beryl could not have been a nicer and more welcoming host. The welsh breakfast was to die for and set me up perfectly for a long day ahead.

Lovely little bnb - very clean, fantastic location, great breakfast and Beryl was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed - nothing was too much trouble for her. Even the dog had a good nights sleep! Would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyable stay at Gwynfa. Great location for sightseeing nearby and shops/supermarkets. Excellent breakfast with perfect fried bread. The room is cosy, spotlessly clean and well look after. Our host Beryl is friendly and made good suggestions for trips especially for us without a car. Highly recommend for this place.

What a find!! Beryl and Barry are amazing hosts - so friendly, and Beryl is an encyclopaedia for local information of things to do and places to go, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was a good size, spotlessly clean, as was the en suite which had a good-sized walk in shower, and there were even extra little touches like a box with paracetamol, anti-histamines, cold and flu tablets etc in, a wall mounted bottle opener, wine glasses, dressing gowns and slippers! The breakfast was great, with orange juice,a choice of cereals, full Welsh cooked breakfast (with quality bacon, not the wafer-thin stuff you get in some places) - or you could get a lighter breakfast such as scrambled eggs on toast - tea (including the fruity and mint stuff) and coffee, toast and marmalade/jam. The location is great - s short walk to the pubs/restaurants of Porthmadog and you the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway. Gwynfa would certainly be our first choice for a place to stay if we went back to Porthmadog. Big tip - if you are thinking of booking through Booking.com, don't - give Beryl a ring directly and you may get a small discount, but at least she'll get the money straight away and they won't take 15% off and make her wait up to 18 days after you leave till she gets paid...

Like a lot of other people I recently took advantage of the good weather and went to North Wales . I aimed for Porthmadog as I intended to visit its three railways and nearby coastline and managed to find accommodation at this delightful B&B. Beryl ( The Co Owner ) greeted my “ cold call “ with a friendly smile and I booked in for a few days. The Family Room I had for three nights was of a good size , very well appointed and spotlessly clean. The Bathroom was kitted out to a very high standard and the breakfast I was offered each day was both large and varied. I swapped to the other room a Twin for day four and although smaller it was equally well appointed and spotlessly maintained. Beryl took time to enquire as to my plans each day and offered a wealth of insight into the area pointing out the places to aim for and those to give a miss to. I very rarely do anything on the spur of the moment and having Gwynfa in Porthmadog as a base made the break. Highly recommended , 10/10.
