We stayed in accessible room 1 and it was much better than I expected. Good clean standard and excellent staff who couldn't do enough for you. I had to request toilet cleaner as there was no housekeeping - might be a good idea to have a cleaning kit in the bathroom. Great nights sleep with a (narrow) comfy bed (I pushed the bed against the wall as I tend to starfish and didn't want to fall out of bed) and it was in a quiet location. Aldi, Lidl, Millets, Sport Direct and a breakfast café were on the doorstep, although Travelodge do a breakfast box we did not try it. Forgot to mention to staff while we were there so will mention here just in case they read reviews. The self closing door hinge needs adjusting so that the door actually closes by itself behind you and the wet room shower drain needs cleaning as it is slow draining and pools after showering. Neither issue bothered us but might bother the next guest. Very well done to all of the staff - I will return.

Given the fact we only paid £36 for a night in a twin room how can you beat that for value. This is a short stay basic stop over IMO. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from Aldi and Lidle or a 10 minute walk into Porthmadog.
Clean room, clean bathroom with towels, hand wash and shower gel provided. Tea and coffee making facilities and tv.
You can bring your dog for £20 per stay.

Note.. no hairdryer
30 mins free wifi per 24hrs or £3 for a full 24hrs.
Dogs are £20 per stay not per night.

Strange Covid times so we chose Travelodge as they have a system to be able to cancel up till the day of arrival. There seemed to be ample parking. The room is compact but had all our needs. The back rooms overlook a builders merchant, but further away you can see the mountains of Snowdonia. We found the bed a good size and comfortable. The room was clean, with tea and coffee making facilites. The bathroom was also compact but had all we needed. In line with covid regulations, the room is not cleaned daily but you can ask for top ups of tea and coffee, fresh towels as needed and basics like loo rolls and emptying your waste bin. I do miss perhaps a cleaning cloth/sponge to be able to give the bathroom a wipe around as we stayed for 6 days. We had breakfast each day at nearby Breaktimes - a very special little place to start your day and only 2 minutes walk. This Travelodge is in walking distance of the town for restaurants, shops and supermarkets and the trains. It is a quiet location.

This travelodge is situated just on the outskirts of Porthmadog high street, about a 5 minute walk, there is a building yard to the rear but we had a front room over looking the car park, room 213 on the second floor. I had asked for 1st floor as l was getting over a injured ankle and was assured by a staff member when l rang a the week before we were due to arrive that a 1st floor room wouldn’t be a problem and she would make a note on our booking, so l was pleased there was a lift as going up 4 flights ( l think) stairs would have been a little challenging. The travelodge was very COVID aware hand sanitizer freely available and for the three day we stayed staff were daily cleaning all public areas and were very polite and friendly. Our room was clean, the bathroom was also clean with clean white fluffy towels. But the extractor fan didn’t work and after 2 to 3 minutes of turning the shower on the room was full of stem and you couldn’t see. On the wall of the shower was a notice saying “ please close the bathroom door while useing the shower as the stem could set of the fire alarm” we didn’t want to be responsible for evacuating the hole of the travelodge so we didn’t use the shower !! We couldn’t even open the window in the room enough to maybe alleviate some of the stem. The light as you go into the room didn’t work, we did tell the gentleman on the front desk about both issues he apologised and said “there was no on site maintenance but he would report it, and unfortunately because the travelodge was fully booked there was no other room available”. Because some restrictions were still in place we spent a little more time in room than usual, because there was only one chair in the room one of us had to sit or lie on the bed which was not the most comfortable, there is what feels like a metal bar that runs around the edge of the mattress so to sit on it was really uncomfortable. I don’t understand why there couldn’t be another folding chair that could be stored under the bed!! Unfortunately because of the shower / light and the lack of a second chair l haven’t given it 5 stars.

This is the basic end of the budget concept, with over-worked locals doing their absolute best to deal with the foibles of the traveling public. It feels like a cross between a Howard Johnson somwhere in the mid-west and a Formula 1 that you may have booked to stage your journey to the south of France. The wrong side of the tracks thang is emphasised by being next to the busy yard of a builders' merchant & a fuel storage depot. Avoid the brekfast box unless you are booked onto a very early train and can't wait for the almost adjacent Lidl or Breaktimes cafe to open. Management have a lot to answer for. Touring cyclists are, ahem, sleeping with their machines and the inadequate vacuum cleaners are just not getting the sand & grit out of the carpets in the otherwise very clean rooms. Poor quality fitments/maintenence also undermine the experience. I requested that the blown lighbulb above the basin should be replaced & it was still not working when I checked-out two days later. A Premier Inn will open on 16 September 2022, adjacent to the harbour station of the heritage railway. I'll be interested to see what kind of price differential they'll charge.....

Okay, our mistake to use a non air conditioned hotel in a heatwave! Hotels were fully booked all over Porthmadog for the dates we wanted. We had a small, stuffy but clean room with fresh towels and tea and coffee making facilities. However, we were given a south facing window on the first floor! It was incredibly stuffy and hot in our room. The fan provided gave little relief, and we sweated that much, it was like a sauna, and at one point during the night we both felt quite light headed and nauseous. We got up during the early hours just to cool down outside.
The bed was comfy though, but we didn't sleep much due to the heat.
The shower was pleasant, BUT the tray incredibly slippy bordering on the point of dangerous. Both of us slipped a few times. There needs to be a handrail or at least the tray made to be non slip. It would be lethal for someone who had poor mobility and/or eyesight.
Unfortunately the room only had 2 sockets, so charging phones and using the kettle, hairdryer, fan etc, was a bit of a pain. I'd recommend you take an extension lead with multi sockets.
We paid £22 for 2 days WIFI, but it was terrible and we couldn't get online despite us signing in and being logged on correctly. In the end, we just used the dongle we had luckily brought with us. We are awaiting a refund as it was totally unusable.
However, we did have a lovely breakfast box each day with cornflakes, milk, orange juice, flapjack and pain au chocolat, which was nice and cool and refreshing. There is a breakfast cafe a 2 minute walk from the hotel, if you fancy a cooked breakfast. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in Porthmadog, but unfortunately they were all fully booked, so we opted for a fish and chips takeaway.
It's about a 12 mile drive to Barmouth, with an easily accessible beach, shops and cafes, so we decided to go there for a day, and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you can, go for a drive to Canarfon, the scenery is spectacular, especially for all you photographers out there!
All in all we were glad to leave, but the receptionists were lovely and friendly and very welcoming. I don't think we would go back again, which is a shame. The surrounding areas are beautiful though.

We stayed in this hotel or motel is probably a more accurate description as it was conveniently located nearby Portmeirion. The rooms are basic and clean but very expensive for what it offers. One can only assume it is near the tourist village of Portmeirion and it is subject to high demand.

There are no catering facilities on site, one can order a breakfast box to eat in your room. There is a drinks and snack vending machine at reception and reception is not usually manned so one has to call a member of staff by phone.

The hotel is located on the edge of town on an industrial estate and there is a nearby supermarket. There is ample free car parking on site but it was almost full on each of the 3 nights we stayed there. This hotel chain is normally great value for money but this one is very expensive due to the high number of tourists wanting to visit Portmeirion and the steam railway. I would recommend to look at other hotels or B & B located in the town centre.

Spent one night stopover at the Travelodge in Portmadog, Wales. Stay was ok but after we left and arrived at our next hotel just two miles away I realised I had left a very important item in the room. I use a breathing machine for severe sleep apnoea but when unpacking at our next hotel could not find the face mask. I went over things in my head and remembered that I left the mask on the floor by the side of the bed. I immediately rang the Travelodge to ask about it and the staff member told me they would make enquiries and ring me back. No phone call came back so next morning I rang again. The staff member I spoke to treated my enquiry as though I was asking about a bar of soap. Most unhelpful. Again promised a call back whick I duly received. I was told that no such item had been handed in either by the subsequent guest in that room or by the cleaner. I am 100% certain that I mislaid my mask in that hotel room so it remains a mystery as to who would retain a sleep apnoea mask designed for myself. Keep goods locked up in suitcase would be my advice. Someone was most dishonest.

Choose the new premier Inn if you have a choice. This travel lodge is tired and in need of a refurb, it's in the middle of an industrial estate with 2 large builders merchants to the front and side of the building.
We asked for high floor quiet room but unfortunately due to the builders merchants and seagulls the room was still noisy even with the windows closed.
The bed was not comfortable and mattress needs upgrading.
Lucky for us we now bring mattress topper and our own pillows so we can get a half decent night's sleep.
The bathroom shower could do with an upgrade and needs the new round rails to stop the curtain sticking to you.
We were staying for a week but on 3 separate occasions our room was forgotten and no clean towels or toilet rolls/bins emptied.
I don't understand why travel lodges are not cleaning rooms properly when you are there for a week? No bedding changed and by the time we left the carpet was in desperate need of a good vacuum.
The town centre is about a 10/15 minute walk through the estate. The Ffestiniog railway about a 20 minute walk.
There is a new Lidl a couple of minutes walk away.
Also an Aldi nearby too. A lovely cafe selling breakfast and lunch is about a 5 minute walk away on the industrial estate.
The reception staff were all very welcoming especially Meniir a lovely local Welsh lady who gave us tips of places to visit and then always asked us where we'd been and what we'd done.

I have stayed at the Travelodge Porthmadog, whilst on business, several times over the past couple of months. The Hotel is very clean, has a large carpark and is ideally situated for all local amenities, in the town, with 3 bid supermarkets, within walking distance of the hotel.
What makes the Hotel stand out for me, is the brilliant staff, who are always really friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and offer local knowledge.
Jean is an absolute star and came to my rescue on my first visit, when she pointed me in the direction of a shop to buy a phone charger and always has a smile on her face. A real asset to the Hotel.
Paul is extremely friendly and professional and is always there on the front desk to welcome you with a friendly smile.
Molly, very friendly, happy in her job,a real asset and goes the extra mile to help.
The team is led by Amanda, the Hotel general manager, a real professional operator, who today, when she found out we needed booking in for an extra night, went out of her way to contact our office and extend our reservation for an extra night. Something that she did subtally, and without making any fuss. This i really appreciated.
In summary, the Hotel offers extremely good value for money, the staff go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, it is extremely covid compliant and I will always stay here whenever in the area, whether its on business, or for a Vacation, after lockdown.
Thank you Amanda and the team.
