#1 of 13 B&Bs / Inns in Porthmadog
Welcome to Penaber Bed and Breakfast where Gary & Mary's aim is to make your stay as enjoyable, comfortable and relaxed as possible. Penaber is a distinctive detached residence standing in nearly an acre of land; It was built in the 1930s and individually designed by a well known local architect. The house is situated on the Morfa Bychan road a 1/4 of a mile from Porthmadog, it sits in its own grounds with a private driveway for safe off-road parking. Penaber had stood empty for nearly 30 years until we bought it in 2002 and had it fully renovated. The house is ideally situated to reach local attractions and places of interest in the area such as Portmeirion, Mount Snowdon, many Castles, slate and copper mines, zip wires a number of narrow gauge railways, and many golf courses, all of which are too many to mention, and not forgetting the beautiful beaches. Activities can include sailing, water sports, golfing, fishing, rambling, sightseeing or just relaxing. The house is a good central base for all activities and attractions Borth y Gest is located a 10 minute walk from the house it is a pretty harbour village on the shores of the Glaslyn estuary commanding views of both mountains and sea. With easy access onto the Welsh Coastal path The busy seaside town of Porthmadog is a 15 minute walk away, it's on the border of Snowdonia and the Llyn peninsula. Porthmadog has an ample supply of eating places from cafes , pubs to bistros and restaurants, It is also the home of the Purplemoose micro brewery Although having few high street names, Porthmadog is an excellent shopping centre with a huge variety of small, independent, locally owned shops, from book-shops to music shops, where you can find almost anything you need. There is a leisure centre (Canolfan Hamdden Glaslyn) and at Morfa Bychan there is Black Rock Sands, a popular two mile long sandy beach, with views of Harlech and Criccieth castles. Penaber has one twin and two double rooms, all the rooms are en-suite and are tastefully decorated, the house is strictly non-smoking. They have tea and coffee making facilities and a 32 inch television with a dvd player and also free Wi-Fi is available The rooms are priced from £75 per night inclusive of Full Welsh Breakfast depending on seasons. Ideal for long or short stays

We have just returned from spending 5 days at Penaber B&B. The hosts Mary & Garry where excellent, very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Our room (No 2) was very spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfasts was well cooked and good quality. Perfect location, being just on the outskirts of Porthmadog, very quiet with private off road parking. Will definitely make a return visit in the near future. Thanks again to Mary & Garry for a perfect stay

Spent 2 nights with friends. Gary and mary perfect hosts, room spotlessly clean, well designed, light & spacious. Tea and coffee tray well stocked. Bathroom again spotless with power shower. Breakfast plentiful and well cooked. Our only fault is we didn’t stay longer. Local area is beautiful, walk to portmerrion along train track and borth y gest harbour. Recommend the Sunday roast at y bank. Thanks for making us so welcome we will return. Si, Karen, Michael & Lyndsay

On arrival at Penaber we were warmly greeted by Mary & Gary the owners. The house is immaculate. We stayed in room 2 which is large, comfortable, very clean and overlooks the well tended garden. Breakfast was lovely and is served in the conservatory. There are some nice places and beaches to visit in the area. We ate at Yr Hen Fecws restaurant in Porthmadog which we can recommned. We enjoyed a very relaxing time at the Penaber, a great place to stay. Thank you Mary & Gary. ..
