Location is fantastic as it’s directly opposite Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, our plus room benefitted from views of the railway and bay.
However our room was on the second floor and as such we could clearly here every footstep from the person above, (tip get a third floor/top room to negate this)
The plus rooms should come with extras like coffee pods/ chocolate and water as standard each day as well as a general clean and change of towels, however you have to request this every day otherwise the room will be completely bypassed, the staff stated that this is because of COVID, I believe this is used more of an excuse due to staffing issues and lack of management.
We have been all over the UK in Premier Inn and Premier plus room and can say that this is the most expensive and newest but far from the best experience

A very nice new hotel some 5 minutes walk from the Ffestiniog Railway Harbour station. Well equipped rooms with usual comfy bed ,television and ensuite bathroom. Lifts to all three floors. Open plan bar looking out towards railway with associated restaurant. Reasonable selection of beers on tap and usual Premier Inn breakfast and dinner menus. Straightforward check-in at reception with a human being as well as some electronic terminals.
The area of land on which it is built is limited and therefore so are the car parking spaces. Some electrical charger points and 3 disabled slots for parking. Ramp and step access to reception.
Nearest ATM is at Shell garage which has a small convenience store attached a 5-minute walk away.

My opinions.. staff are very pleasant and helpful but there are too few of them. Organisation is not of the greatest.. top~ ups for tea bags coffee sugar milk at reception but on at least two occasions there was no milk and I had to buzz the manager to get it filled. I used the Premier Inn meal deal and when attending for what I assumed was the booked time I discovered that it had not been conveyed to the restaurant and I had to wait. Also there was a notice on the "welcome stand"at the restaurant saying " restaurant closed" ! It had not been changed. Another night I was told that the restaurant service was "slow".. there were two serving staff and the chef came out to deliver my meal ! Nothing wrong with the food quality. My visit was over a long weekend and there was no service to tidy my room, and when I reported troubles with the toilet seat and the shower gel dispenser nothing was done about it ! Not much point having a tag on the door saying "do not disturb and describing how they clean the room" if nothing is done. Same applies to dealing with bath towels etc.
Fortunately being on my own it did not disturb the enjoyment of my weekend.
The odd numbered rooms on the first floor looked out over the railway and the harbour beyond. The rear view of the hotel looks out towards Snowdon and associated ranges.

Firstly, it's a Premier Inn so you already know what you're getting.
Its a fairly new build so at the time of writing the rooms are good and the fittings are in good condition.
The location is great, just on the end of 'The Cob' and a very short walk to the town and the Ffestiniog Railway which is just across the road. Front facing rooms will have a good view over the station.
Where this Premier Inn fails is in its restaurant. It's tragically inconsistent and leaves its front of house staff having to make apologies for a weak, incompetent and lazy kitchen team.
Our first morning of breakfast was good. Food was hot, everything was well stocked and the kitchen staff approachable. That evening, two of the evening meals were served with coleslaw that was off. This might be understandable if it were made fresh, but this would certainly have been bought in. It's concerning that a competent chef would serve dairy based products without physically checking they were suitable. The front of house staff were quick to deal with the problem and extremely apologetic.
The following morning was clearly a different shift on breakfast. With the restaurant not busy, the buffet was empty, all the bread items were gone, cereals run down and the hot items were overcooked and left to go cold on the counter. No kitchen staff could be found.
One of the hallmarks of a Premier Inn has always been a a comfortable room, a decent bed and a good breakfast the following morning.
This hotel has excellent front of house staff who are working hard in the limited numbers they have to make their guests have a comfortable stay.
They are sadly being let down and burdened by having to apologise for an inadequate and poorly managed catering team which really needs addressing as a matter of urgency.

I wish I had read the negative reviews listed before booking because sadly I can only echo what’s already been said. Breakfast was not up to the usual standard and quality we’ve always experienced with Premier Inn. DON’T EXPECT TO PARK at this hotel as it has 150+ rooms with limited parking and the parking spaces that are there can be paid for by non guests! You can park opposite if you don’t mind getting up to move your car elsewhere in the village before 7am when you’re supposed to be on holiday taking it easy!! or you can park a 15 minute walk away. Porthmadog is a beautiful village and an excellent location for exploring but we felt that this hotel is letting the village down. Not enough staff and those that were there were lovely but can’t see them wanting to stay in their jobs as we witnessed them dealing with many disappointed guests during our stay.

The perfect location I have stayed for a Premier Inn, very close to the town and with views to die for whichever side of the building your room looks.

We had a Premier Plus room which was pretty good if expensive. This is not the cheapest hotel in Wales by any means so I would expect more than one loo roll for our five day visit and I would expect the loo to be in good condition (lid pan came right away when lifted and seat was loose!) Nice touch to have a small fridge in room and A/C worked fine. We could hardly hear any other guests during our stay, so very peaceful.

Breakfast was, I have to be honest not the best. We had continental breakfast and each day there were issues with stuff running out and we had to continually ask for more bread, cereals and butter. One of the young fair haired serving ladies on the Tuesday was particularly moody and it seemed everything was too much trouble. Maybe they were short staffed, I don't know but all the other staff were great.

One thing about ordering food to be taken up to the room. We asked at 6-30pm if we could order some food. Not possible. We had to book a time to come down again just to order our food (in our case 8pm), then go back to the room and come back down again twenty mins later to collect it! Why not just take order and food at time of ordering?

But the location made up for all the other problems, and if you can afford it then stay here.

One final thing, we saw an advert in the hotel from the owners Whitbread who announced they were 'racing toward being carbon neutral by 2040'. Seventeen years to go, hardly racing are you!

Ideally located close to the Town Centre, Steam Railway Station, etc. Staff were polite and the rooms were comfortable. Coffee and Tea facilities available in the room and additional tea bags and sachets of coffee provided free of cost. The Cooked Breakfast was standard for any Premier Inn Hotel. It might have been nice if they could offer some variety and promote local produce like bacon, eggs and sausages. Because of the height of the mattress my wife and I found getting and out of bed difficult. Also, have feedback into the Premier Inn that it would be useful to have a means of being able to climb in and out of the bath. The only negative was lack of cark parking facilities for those staying at the hotel. We were fortunate that we did not have to use the public car park located some distance from the hotel. Not sure why guests when booking a room on line cannot secure a parking bay? If I might end on a positive note, the view from our hotel room was outstanding!

Lovely hotel in a great location with fantastic views over the mountain and railway.

We arrived around 1.30 pm after traveling for 4 hours, but could not check in until 3.00 pm. which to be fair it's what is advertised, however, we have stayed in 5 other premier inns over the last 12 months, where reception check that if your room is ready, they will let you check in sooner (usually around 2.00 pm).

The young lad that checked us in on Tuesday 14th Sept was so friendly and helpful, as was all the staff in the restaurant. We had a premier plus room which was lovely and overlooked the railway.

We had breakfast on the 3 mornings we were there and also dinner on two of the nights, we had the meal deal which is excellent value for money. Breakfast was lovely and replenished quickly, we liked that you could see into the kitchen, plus the chefs were lovely and chatty, as they were cooking my poached eggs. Plus, the two young girls in the restaurant for dinner on Wed 15th and Thursday 16th were also friendly and worked very hard, our drinks arrived quickly, and we did not have to wait long for our meals, which were all good.

Parking may be a problem if trying to park after 4/5 pm. as by then there is no spaces left. We went out each day and made sure we were back before 5.00 pm. So wasn't a problem for us.

We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is three weeks old so the rooms and the standard is nothing to complain about. The location is also very good, so why two star rating?………
The service is so bad that you get a feeling that the hotel is runned by amateurs. Non existent in fact and with no hospitality.
The breakfast is ok, but the dinner served in the restaurant are totally tastless. They take inn 3 bookings per dedicated booking times, and even when the restaurant is practically emty they can’t figure out how to serve the guest and make good quality food.
If it haven’t been for the location and the fact that it is a new hotel, it have been a one star rating.

This is a potentially good hotel spoilt by its staff. I don’t blame them. They must have had a massive lack of training.

We called in at 1pm to ask when check in was. We were told it was at 3pm.

We came back then to be told our room was not ready. It quickly became apparent that none were: three cleaning staff had not turned up for work.

There was no apology: we were asked to wait in the bar. No one thought of offering tea and coffee to the growing number of people waiting.

It eventually took an hour to check in. Reasonable questions as to when the room might be available, to see if other plans were appropriate, were met with surliness.

When we got to the room the key card did not work. This was obviously a common problem. It happened to others, we realised. It seemed most staff were not trained as to how to deal with this. Getting a replacement key card took more than 10 minutes on one occasion.

I did not use the Wi-Fi that came with the room on check in evening. I could not find the code in the morning. I asked for it at reception and was told as I had checked in the day before I could not have it even though I had the room for another four hours. When I complained, politely, but admittedly saying that I was frustrated by all that had gone wrong I was told I was horrible by an assistant manager. I had never got angry, raised my voice, sworn, or anything else. I had just asked for the service I had paid for.

I have stayed in hotels all over the world. This was the worst customer service experience, ever. Absolutely dire, and with not a hint of apology from anyone, from the manager (who I spoke to) downwards.

Best avoided until they learns how to run a hotel, I suggest.

Nice new hotel, so everything is currently in good order, fully air conditioned, which is a must in premier inns as they are normally like a furnace.
Car park is not big enough for all hotel guests if full, this isn't helped by the fact, locals or visitors to Porthmadog can pay at meter to stay in car park too....all at expense of hotel guests not getting a space. Staff are not trained in hospitality, many have never worked in hotels before this one opened in June...and it shows! Complete chaos at check in time, no one fully took charge of booking people in, guests were queuing out the door. Unless you pre book the very small dining before you arrive, expect to get a table at 8.30/9 or eat else where, when you've got children with you, 9pm is too late.
I wouldn't stay here again during to car park, if I ever came back to this area I would definitely book somewhere else.
