Once a glorious hotel but now a little dilapidated and dated. Due to renovations we were upgraded to a superior double room. Positives of our room included a very comfortable king bed, fridge, closet, iron, deep tub (with a plug), tea service and chocolates. The carpet had seen better days and there was an odd smell about. There’s a hot...

This was our first stop in New Zealand. We did not manage the caves that day,so we just had dinner and went to sleep in these perfect bed. The rest was not so perfect like the cold bath with a strong draft!!! Nevertheless, a nice stay, recommendable and we would come again!

The Waitomo Caves Hotel doesn't just deliver a great welcome. It also presents you with years of history and tons of character. A stunning gothic building with plentiful rooms and a seriously sumptuous restaurant should be experienced when visiting Waitomo.

Hugely disappointing!! Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are nothing like the website suggests. There must be some kind of law to stop that happening! They were extremely tired, to put it politely! The rooms smelt, the Queen room did not have a queen sized bed, but two unsized beds pushed together, the wallpaper was ripped,...

Basic rooms are very small, wouldn't bother with those. Larger double deluxe rooms have small fridge, tea and coffee making facility and comfortable king bed. No rooms appear to have closet space so keep your clothes in the case or dump them on the floor. Nice jacuzzi downstairs. All rooms upstairs so lug your cases up. Very good wifi.

Great old style hotel, on the hill overlooking the valley. Close to the glow worm caves. There are likely some wonderful rooms with super views, but beware - there are also tiny, dorm like rooms - well, more like a cupboard ( yep, that's what we had) no furniture beyond the bed and a ratty chair, no closet - just...

A group of us stayed at the hotel for a weekend and while the rooms and some parts of the hotel are a bit rundown and dated, the great service and food from the hotel restaurant more than made up for it. The brand new spa pools were pretty awesome too.

I'm not a religious person and my mental is strong, I don't believe in ghost or after life thingys. Yet, the hotel did give me an very uneasy feeling and it was so real, I didnt "see" anything but I could "feel". However, the hotel service was excellent, staffs were very lovely and helpful (even it's quite old). Our room...

This hotel was booked through a travel agent last minute. We probably wouldn't have stayed here if we had known that it is apparently the most haunted hotel in New Zealand. It is very run down and in desperate need of renovations (which it looks like they have started) as the wallpaper is falling off the walls and the carpet...

I stayed here because I researched the history and the stories of this old Hotel. There is not dispute she is an old Lady and she has seen plenty - but this is what she is nothing more and nothing less. I read the other reviews of people putting the place down and this is no fault of the Hotel....
