When booking in with a credit card we were requested to add a bond which we refused. The rooms had aluminium deck chairs for inside furnature so was not that comfortable. The room was clean however the door is secured by one of those 1970's 2 leaver locks where everyone used to get burgled as there is only 7 different combinations. I did not feel that sefe particularly as Otorahanga is close to the prison complexes. The internet is by vouchers which provides a teaspoon of data. Thouogh it was stated to be sufficient the data was drained in 2.5 minutes using Facebook. The shower is one of those two tap design with a stainless steel pan floor and provided a measly amount of water. I decided to check out early and stay elsewhere. I visited the pool and noted the child proof gate did not close and latch on its own as per the safe pool fencing requirements. I do not see a return visit here happening any time soon.…

At check in we asked- "Did the room have wifi? Did the room have electric blankets? Did the room have a heat pump. (It was a cold & wet night! The receptionist replied yes to everything. The Wifi did not work over our stay at all. One of the electric blankets did not work on the double bed so I slept in the single bed with an electric blanket. The electric blanket worked but the bed springs were broken on one side of the bed so I slept on a "slope". At check-out I informed the receptionist that we were not happy with NO wifi and an electric blanket not working and having to sleep on broken springs and suggested that when they repaid our bond (at check-in we were asked to pay a $100 bond!) perhaps a discount would be in order! This never happened! We do believe that a discount should have been made! Shocking service!…

Booked online for a one night stay in the family unit for 23/1. However, due to the poor customer service and quite frankly bad attitude from the manager, our stay was canceled and a last minute booking elsewhere had to be arranged. Upon arriving in Waitomo earlier then expected, a phone call was made to Otorohanga and Waitomo Motels asking if there was any possibility of an earlier check in to which we were told quite bluntly and rudely “no, as they had a busy night prior and there would be no chance the room would be ready before 2pm”. The fact the room wouldn’t be ready for an early check in was fine but the way we were spoken to over the phone was nothing less than unaccommodating and hostile. Despite this we turned up to the venue for check in after 2pm only to be questioned by the same manager on if our request for a portacot had been cancelled and told that motel policy doesn’t allow for families to bring their own cot into the rooms. This would mean we would be charged $20 for cot hire. Yet again, both my mother and I were blown away with the attitude of the manger and the way she was speaking to both of us. After expressing our dissatisfaction with her customer service skills we were asked bluntly “what we want to do and told that going ahead with the booking didn’t seem feasible” so due to this, our party of 7 left. Both the conversation about early check in and the situation with the portacot were minor details and there would have no problem whatsoever had we been spoken to in a professional and respectful manner. Im not the type of person to normally write reviews but this experience was a major down point on our family holiday. I have never come across someone in this type of role as indifferent and unaccomadating towards customers. Would not recommend this venue to anyone and would tell future guests to steer clear if they value good service.…

We stayed in a brand new studio unit over the road from reception. It was very quiet and spacious, the bed was super comfy and the shower really nice. The fridge didn’t even make a noise. It got the afternoon sun. However there are a few small issues to be addressed, so I have given an excellent in the hope that they are. I’ve written to the managers to address. Also the spa was broken, so don’t go for that reason!

A clean, retro style motel. It had a big kitchen/dining area (we didn't need this as were only staying one night). The owner was friendly and it was close to town. The spa didn't look clean and it wasn't warm - my kids were disappointed they didn't get to use it. Apart from that, we were satisfied. We were able to park right outside our room and the view was lovely out the back.

Upon arrival we were checked in. The room was away from the road, therefore you expect quiet. Yes there was no road noise, however the two calves in the area adjoining made sure that things were not quiet. As a self catered unit you would expect the oven and stove to work. Wrong. Oven element did not work and neither did 2 of the 3 hotplate elements work. Upon reporting this I was told that they would not be able to get an electrician on the weekend. Fair enough but what about moving us to another room? The toilet cistern had a leak that appeared to have been there for a while. All I say is invest in this property or people will not visit.

Stayed with our 6 & 3 yr old boy's. They were warm thanks to the aircon and extra blankets provided. Trampoline and swing set and plenty of room for scootering in the carpark. We6 were in the rooms across the road from main reception. Room was tidy and very clean. Kitchen equipped to cook if you desire. Instant hot water in the shower. Firm but comfortable bed. Cheap and cheerful for an overnight stay while visiting the caves. Dont come looking for the Sheraton or expect silver service-it's typical small town motel just like anywhere in the world. Thankyou for a friendly stay.

Located about 20 minutes from Waitomo Caves. Outdoor pool, but not heated so once the weather cools, not much use. Also has hot tub (very small) and seems to be turned on only during the hours it's open (4-10), so you have to give it time to heat up (it's actually better to leave it on all the time, to circulate the water). Staff very friendly and helpful. Basic accommodations, but adequate.

Specifically paid higher premiums to stay here after reading that it was dated, due to fact that only one with spa pool.Arrived to confusing signage as motels spread across both sides of road & told spa just round corner of reception ( downhill & not visible). Later that evening with toddler went to have spa had to walk across road (freezing) and down driveway with no signage and then put my foot in to test & screamed. The temperature was boiling. Couldnt get it covered fast enough & worried for little one the whole time. Told manager who claimed they tested earlier and it was okay, if I waited( in togs with toddler) he would cool it down, completely disregarded health & safety risk & then to top it off told me if had issue with unit across road I should have said something at start and had to carry next morning breakfast across road whilst looking after toddler on own as well. Managers were completely unhelpful. …

Dear Kim I am extremely sorry for you after reading your comments. Your comments are very important to me as I take every criticism to improve myself in the service of my Guests. I will endeavor to explain the points you have raised. 1. TV the TV is as good as any and is used by all our Guests with no one ever coming up with your type of comment. Could you please elaborate more as to your expectations of a TV? 2.NO Alarm??? Do not understand what you mean. 3.Shampoo and Conditioners are only provided on request and so you had all the right to ask for this and you would have been issued 4.Our Larger rooms are across the road and have not been of any issue to any Guest apart from you. 5.The Spa also has been there for Donkeys years before we took over but we hear you and may consider another Spa across the road to satisfy the likes of you. 6.You indicate that the spa was over heated but the guest before you who had used the Spa earlier left pretty satisfied so am getting confused with your comments. 7.Yes most of our Guests view their rooms before settling in and I would have appreciated the same from you. 8.We were going to bring the Breakfast to your room but insisted on taking it yourself so we thought you were so kind not knowing that you would not Pay for the Breakfast. Please send us the cost of your Breakfast. May I just ask if all this comment was about not paying for the Breakfast? Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Karam(Manager
