This ski lodge isn't the fanciest in the world, but it gets the job done: clean room, quiet common space, friendly staff, etc. They provide transportation to and from the Tongariro Crossing for a charge, which is necessary as the trail isn't a loop. However, I'd suggest passing on the optional breakfast. It's ten dollars I believe, but it wasn't...

Hi Jacob , thank you for staying with us. Your $10 breakfast was the continental option of cereal/fruit/yogurt/ toast/juice/tea/coffee. Was a shame you didn't enjoy it. Sorry for that.

We took a family room with ensuite facilities which for 2 people travelling with a lot of luggage was just about enough room. Nothing too fancy altogether the rooms are quite worn, the beds a bit overused and the bathroom does not have any heating so it gets rather chilly on there. The common area is nice with a big...

Nice location, not too far from mt ruapehu, friendly welcoming host at the reception. Didn't like the attitude of Russian waitresses, they were quite rude when we asked simply for some plates as we brought our own dinner, but the lady at reception really helped us out. Room was tidy and so was the toilet/shower area. The table tennis and...

Visited in the off season for the Tongariro trek.. Bruce, the owner was really helpful in finding out the weather and recommending us not to go on our first day.. we were lucky enough to have great weather on the second day.. The owner really went out of his way to help everyone out.. The rooms are basic but comfortable.....

A cosy, warm place to spend the night! My room was beautiful and warm on arrival, and I had a fantastic sleep. I enjoyed the lodge- communal lounge space with fire, bar, shared dining room and little extras like a drying room and hot tubs. I wasn't there for skiing but would stay here if I return to the area!...

There is a great atmosphere. Staff are so friendly and helpful. They seem set up for us. Kids loved the hot tubs and the games room. They have been telling me they want to stay longer. It's not super fancy so I feel like I can just relax.

This was a 2 night quick family trip to the snow for my birthday. Yes, thats right...21 again :) We stayed 3 days here. We only had the opportunity to go skiing on day 2. Most in our group have never seen snow since we live in Australia. So we hoped like hell that the weather cleared enough for the...

I was quite looking forward to an adhoc trip to Whanganui stopping off at National Park over night. The drive from Auckland as usual a great trip. I appreciate that Pipers is a ski lodge so did not have huge expectations as I would do a normal hotel. Booked via Trivago and got a good price and decided to add...

We stayed at Piper's for a week and although the weather was not conducive to skiing every day the owners were very helpful in giving us information about alternative things to do. Although this is not the most modern property, it is clean and run by a wonderful couple who will do all they can to make you feel welcome...
