We do not offer luxury, but we do offer simplicity and the chance to get back to nature. Our beach huts are stylish yet basic and constructed from local materials using local methods. Each faces its own private beach and is equipped with western facilities. The island has no mains power so there are no flat screen television or mini bars, but we do stock cold drinks in the restaurant and our food is freshly delivered every day. We use solar panels to provide 24 hour lighting and we have a diesel generator that is on for several hours each day providing 200-240 volts to charge up your gadgets. We pump water from an underground lens and harvest rain water whenever possible. We aim to minimise our impact on the island land, cutting back trees and growth only where essential and leaving habitats intact. Free WIFI is available at our WIFI hotspot and local mobile phone networks cover the island. With no mains electricity, no cars or bikes and very little light pollution, Tranquillity offers you the chance to see, feel and listen to nature as nature intended. Campsite and private beach camping available as well.

This was the highlight of our Vanuatu trip. We had such a wonderful day snorkeling and visiting the turtle rookery. The team - Nemly, Linda, Margaret, David and the two Robson's - looked after us so well. Learning about, and getting to release a Hawksbill turtle ("Vivian") from the rookery on my 50th birthday was really something special.

Tranquility, serenity, peace. This is the real Bonnie Doon. 30 minute ride from airport, 15 minute boat ride to island, then peace. Dolphins, dugongs, turtles, fish and coral galore. Straight out from your Bure or within a short walk. No car noise, no street lights, only sound is from other guests or the lapping ocean. Thick black nights = maximum star gazing. Take the time to get to Fred’s Beach. It is spec-tac-ular. Ask the kitchen for a picnic lunch as you’ll need to spend hours there. 75 minute hike, private beach, crystal clear water, deep coral, little cave to explore. You won't want to leave. The best part is the tour guide, Boots the dog. She will take you there, stay with you and guide you back (take some fresh water for her as there’s none and she won't leave until you’re done.). There is nothing luxurious about the living quarters at this resort, it is very basic which is the highlight IMO. Do not come here if you’re a sook. 4 hours of electricity, 1 wifi hot spot, dinner is placed in front of you and it’s that or nothing (which removes all the thinking about meals and you’ll be famished). Lots of walking and sightseeing or you can chill out in a hammock. Reef shoes and a torch are a must. One highlight is attending meals with the other guests and comparing what you’ve each discovered over the day. Some great connections made. Diving can be arranged twice a day, snorkelling and sunshine all day. The major downside for us was seeing how the owner (Owen) and his best buddy (Stan) treated the local staff members. Rude, obnoxious, unappreciative, belittling, penny-pinching, smug old dudes. Any suggestions or variations are denied just because they don’t like change. No repairs or upkeep has been done in years. The staff work 12+ hour days and some stay on the premises. No amenities allowed, half the roof blown off and they’re permitted to eat whatever the dogs don’t and some bread. I do not joke. At our Bure early one morning, Stan called out that a light had been left on overnight and he was coming down to turn it off. I replied that we were still sleeping (1 woman, 2 children), he then ENTERED OUR ROOM to turn the light off. When confronted, both he and the owner justified his actions as being totally acceptable. Like, what now? Again, I do not joke or embellish. If this is how they feel entitled to treat paying guests, imagine how they’re treating staff! I can think of many 4 lettered words appropriate for these two Australian people. The staff are gentle, kind, hardworking and will do whatever they can to make your stay better. Be kind to them, bring them gifts as they deserve all the love. The new manager, Evante, has some great ideas for small improvements – like the bonfire! A great evening for everyone. Hopefully she’ll be given some leash unlike other past managers who have burnt out inside 2 years. FYI – she loves talking about horror movies and we happened across a dolls head on one of our walks. We may or may not have scared the crap out of her by putting it on the well. Pure gold! Love you, Evante. This is our second time here and we will be back for sure! …

Beautiful and natural place. Really enjoyed spending my day there, and I went for diving. I was a little bit disappointed by the spot chosen by the group. Except a small hole with some hot water coming out, nothing much to see. But nice boat, nice people, and beautiful country.

Bliss I asked my hubby what I should call this review and he immediately said “ Basic Bliss” as that is how we felt about our stay at Tranquility. Yes, the rooms are basic - a thatched hut (fare). They are comfortable, privately situated with some bush between each one, a verandah out the front, a hammock in the trees and your own private bit of beach that is closer or further away depending on the tide. But they are also the most relaxing and rejuvenating place to be! There is an ensuite about 10 steps from the fare and if you’re lucky you might get to shower with a coconut crab watching! The Bliss would be the warm friendliness of the staff and the complete relax/chill of being there, walking along the beach at low tide, going for a swim or snorkel as the mood takes you, kayaking with turtles, having dolphins swim alongside your boat, what more can I say. And the most amazing meals in the dining fare with other guests to chat about what you’ve been up to. Douglass and Thomas they were the best meals we had during our 3 week trip, thank you. Wish we had stayed longer. I would recommend Tranquility to anyone who is happy to do basic and simply enjoy!…

What a great place to stay! We had a three day stay (housed in “Fare 4” - one of the rustic huts that sit about 15-20 feet from the water’s edge). They have done a very nice job of separation of the housing. As a result, you feel you have ample privacy. There is some solar lighting and a generator runs for a few hours each day, so you can charge devices. Cell signal was good. We really enjoyed the two main hiking paths (one going south to “Skull Cave” and one that goes north and then west across the island to “Fred’s beach”). Both require some scrambling. The Skull Cave path involves a little more detective work along the way to make sure you are actually on the path (but the random green and blue twine and dabs of paint on trees help you keep on track). The three meals a day in the restaurant hut were enough and quite reasonable given the simple cooking facilities. We snorkeled off the beach in multiple locations. The water was clear and there was a nice abundance and range of fish. We drove ourselves to the ferry collection point which was an adventure in itself - involving multiple wrong turns as the map directions were not quite clear. Look for the sign to Tranquility, which may be hidden by tall grass. If you get to the store (coming north from Port Vila) past the Trees and Fishes Retreat, then you have gone too far.…

This place is exactly what I was looking for: away from the fast life, in a world of its own, the ocean on the doorstep, a hammock and shade. Living simply in the thatched huts in the warm tropical air is marvellous. I came to terms with the insects. Long clothing, mozzie coils (provided) & DEET-based repellent kept me largely in one piece. The mozzie net works wonders; you awaken to the bird calls and crash of the waves. Dinners were excellent, thanks to Douglas the chef’s mastery of a non-electric kitchen. Thomas the gentle overseer is a charm. Finn & Marie were wonderful; easy going, extremely knowledgeable and reliable, and just generally lovely to be around at mealtimes and on the one (very safe) non-accredited “discovery dive” I did. Book directly for a small discount compared to the aggregator multinationals. Paying with card is about 2.5% extra so I paid cash I took from Port Vila. The path to Fred’s beach is mapped wrongly on the old maps and very confusing to find. I couldn’t find the turn to cross the island, and then had to walk through thick jungle on the return because the tide had come in. Hopefully they’ll be updated soon. Internet is poor so if you need much buy a data SIM before leaving Vila. Congoola tours kept my luggage for the day till my flight departed; they too are excellent. Indeed all the staff, from the drivers to the maids, were wonderful & the place is incredibly special, even if you just want to sit in your hammock in peace. Highly recommended.…

I've been to Tranquility twice for one night each time, but always come back feeling as if I've been away for a week. The fares have everything you need, are very private and just a few steps from the beach. The meals are always delicious, even if you're vegetarian. Best of all, the diving is amazing. The new managers, Marie and Finn, are kind, patient and go out of their way to make sure everyone has a wonderful time.

We stayed for three nights and completed our Open Water Certificate with Mick and Vicky. They are incredible! Such wonderful patient teachers. We can't say enough about them both. The diving is stunning. We loved our beachside bungalow and will be back.

Gorgeous reef and dive sites, a short scenic boat ride from the mainland island of Efate. Go for a day trip or spend the night (or a few) in an island-style bungalow right on the beach. Very relaxing! Go for the meal plan so you won't have to worry about a thing. Take a stroll to Fred's beach or the caves. And watch out for dolphins on your way back to the mainland!

Basic facilities but that is all you need when you are in such idyllic surroundings! All fares are on the water with decent space between fares so you have an absolutely stunning view in the morning and enough privacy. It is definitely paradise with lots to do for everyone in the family. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage boys and did plenty of walking, scubadiving, snorkeling, relaxing by the beach, kayaking, joining the coongoola day trip, visiting the turtle sanctuary, chatting with other guests... There is wifi but you don't need it! There is electricity at set times in the day but you don't need it! There are plenty of activities on offer which THE BEST resort managers Jenni and Hunter will tell you all about! Robson will take you to and from the island with a dolphin show if you're lucky! Tomas and Douglas are the A team in the kitchen who make sure you don't go hungry! And let's not forget the guide dogs Boots and Socks as they will walk anywhere with you to make sure you're on the right track! Definitely go there if you're planning a Vanuatu trip!…
