somerset lodge is the best place to stay in Montagu. We were warmly welcomed by David. The room was very clean and nicely furnished, microwave , fridge everything you would need was there, Coffee, tea! A little pool to cool down in. Breakfast isn't served anymore though, but there are plenty of places near to the lodge where you can sit...

David is a friendly chatty host. He has a beautifully furnished and maintained home. We had a small room, but everything looked spotless, was stylish, and worked efficiently. We enjoy having somewhere to relax outside. The pool is small, but has good sun beds. It was a shame that he has stopped serving breakfasts, as the dining room looked so...

We stayed 3nights at this hotel....our room was quite small with a bathroom in a strange hallway, but within the room...this was one of the CLEANEST hotels I have stayed in....spotless with great white linens.....the pool is tiny with only 4 loungers....the area was quite small, but it was never a problem....we had a lovely porch with great privacy...we would stay...

Beautiful room, tastefully decorated, clean with gorgeous linen. Serviced daily, staff very discrete. In a quite safe area, unfortunately too far to walk to the restaurants. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

The room was pristinely neat and clean. Tastefully decorated and very comfortable. There were little extra things like a bar fridge for keeping things cold, 2 comfortable chairs for relaxing, aircon plus ceiling fan. The room itself was comfortably spacious and the furniture was good quality. The bed linen was neat and clean. En suite bathroom was clean and neat...

The owner Dave was very friendly and helpful to accommodate us on arriving very late at night, on short notice. Our brief stay was pleasant and the overall attention to detail about the place and quality of this facility was excellently maintained and managed overall.

We arrived early but that was not a problem, David offered us a lovely seat in the lounge while the final touches were being done to our room. We had room 'Clifton', 5 steps from the communal pool. Small room but amazingly complete. We forgot to reserve breakfast but that too was not a problem when we showed up unannounced....

Very clean and airy room with lovely white bed linen. Bathroom was modern and we liked the fact you had your own outside side table and chairs. We had a lovely continental breakfast which was set out in the dining room. David is very welcoming and happy to help. Guesthouse is well situated and less than 10 minutes to walk...

Charming host. Comfortable clean spacious accommodation. Excellant quality linen. Pleasant location. All the facilites one would want in a self catering unit. Milk in the fidge to make tea or coffee on arrival. We would happily return when next in the area.

“It depends on what you plan to go there for.We choose BISHOPS ROOM which is close to the pool and is slightly bigger than Clifton(also close to the pool but has a better view of the beautiful paintings). The other two rooms are self catering and are therefore bigger but further from pool. If you not fussy, then any room is fine”

“try to stay in the room called "Hilton". It is huge and calm, unfortunately the wifi is quite slow there. I think in other rooms not that far from the reception the signal will be stronger.”
