Stayed for one night prior to taking Route 62--wished we could have stayed longer. rooms are very nicely done and offer good views over the estate which includes olive trees and mountain foothills. took may of the well marked walking/running trails. The staff were extremely good. The evening meal was a bit more expensive than most of the others on our trip, however the food was good and, overall, we were very pleased indeed with our stay.

Our 9th visit! Only missed 2018 because of hubbie's illness and fires in Montagu. The new owners (from 2016) have maintained and improved the luxury we love here. It manages to balance extra high luxury with warm friendliness of staff who are here year after year and welcome us like family. Super views you can stare at all day. Lovely pool (only sadness is the gazebo jacuzzi that was destroyed by fire), super spacious rooms with private terraces. Delicious breakfasts part buffet/part served and evening meals so you can relax and not have to drive into town. I really enjoy the resident ostriches who make for amusing company and the informative morning walks through the huge estate. Home grown olives and olive oil. Can recommend the Protea Farm tractor ride - better on a clear day.

Shouldn't tell about this hidden gem but it would be unfair... Very nice rooms with great views over the olive trees and the valley. The food was really great and the complimentary olive oil tasting with the producer made our day! Don't go there, we would like to be able to book a room in future and once people got to know how good this place is...

We stayed for 3 nights to explore Montagu, a small town we normally only drive through. What a find Galenia is! From the moment we walked in, we found welcoming staff and excellent service, we could not have asked for more. Everything is spik and span, the rooms very luxurious and immaculate.. King size bed, linen and pillows are excellent quality. Lovely pool and comfortable pool loungers. The dinner was outstanding, but a 4 course meal at night is a bit too much for our liking. Breakfast was delicious with lots of fresh fruit and home made juices.. And then there is the view! From every place you can see expansive views of the mountains surrounding Montagu. We did a couple of the walks on the farm, which we enjoyed. We really, really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back rather sooner than later. It will be hard to find a better place in Montagu.

Only wonderful things to say about our stay at Galenia. Top service, fabulous rooms, excellent breafast. One of the friends we were travelling with celebrated his 50th birthday and at Galenia they thought about everything by giving him a nice and welcoming stay with even a bottle of champagne and a special dessert. In a few words the best of the best.

This was our second visit and it was as good as our first. The rooms are lovely, large and beds and showers are comfortable. Meals are good. Breakfast is included, while lunch and dinner are optional. Dinner is a choice of two meals (meat and veg) with tasty soup and starter and dessert. It's a great spot to use as a base to explore the area and the GM is highly visble and actively asks for feedback every day so issues can be addressed.

We’ve been to Montagu before but decided to try somewhere different this tme.
A nice place with comfy and spacious rooms, each with its own fireplace all set up and ready ‘to go. A stocked minibar that can be charged to your room. A large bathroom with a huge tub and separate shower, plus an enclosed toilet.
The communal areas were lovely and very comfortable with a fully stocked bar…fortunately as we had one day when the weather was awful and it was a lovely ‘nesting’ spot.
Breakfast and dinner was very nice. And some interesting walks nearby. A quick drive to Montagu itself where there are a few restaurant options if you wont to eat away from the lodge.
As a summary I would definitely go back again.

Amazing 🤩 stay at this lodge , great vibes , the room are very confortable , the site is also very good for hiking .if I may recommend one person at the hotel is Charles , he took so good care of our party .He knows everything about hospitality and should have a great career in front of him , the owners should be proud of having him in the team , he raises your flag very high . I would also like to express my thanks to Patty who took us on a hike , she is a good professional with lots of knowledge about the environment in Montagu , we had a good hike because of her. Hikes are recommended in the area.

Galenia Estate is a few km outside Montagu in 550 ha of beautiful natural flora. The cottages are top notch with a very comfortable bed, views, nice amenities, a fireplace, and a large bathtub. Perfect for have a glass of wine and letting the days activities melt away. The food there was absolutely stupendous! Everything was fresh and delicious. I really wish they would open a restaurant in Cape Town. I'd be there every week. They grounds were lovely to walk on. Saw an ostrich who kept us amused. There was a pool and hot tub, but sadly we didn't have time to partake. The service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the Montagu area.
