I stayed at Dos Monos South for 3 nights in a private room and enjoyed it very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the location is great, the common areas are great to meet people. I would highly recommend staying here.

I really like the place, the rooms are very clean and looks great, beds are comfortable. the only bad thing is that even though there is a sign of non smoking in the common areas, people still doing it even the guy that prepares the breakfast in the morning was smoking where we all were eating. Besides that the Hostel is great

We only stayed here for one night in a private room but it was enjoyable. The hostel itself was very clean. The Argentinian guy at the front desk (forget his name) was very helpful and welcoming. The free breakfast of banana pancakes and coffee was delicious. Location was excellent - 2 minute walk to beach, and just steps from many restaurants/bars. Only downside for us was the setup of the beds in the private room we had - bunkbed style with a double bed on the bottom. My boyfriend and I would have preffered if it was just one double bed, but we knew that's what it was going to be upon booking so can't complain too much! Overall was a great stay and would definitely go back.

I was suckered in by the idea of a few cool nights sleep, however the AC is set at 27c or 80F, so it's actually much cooler outside with a lower temperature and a breeze. I guess if you sleep outside, you miss the smell of 6 people sleeping in a tiny unventilated room with a heater on in Costa Rica. The first night nobody was around to turn down the AC, even the security guard was missing. The next day, I asked very nicely if they could turn it down, but they just said yes and did absolutely nothing about it, so night 2 sucked as well. Stay somewhere else so you aren't disappointed.

Very good location with clean rooms; but no hot water in the shower. Nice staff :)
The ac doesn t work quite well. Hot during the day and freezing at night. But it's worth the price. The rent surfboards and have a nice kitchen!

we came to this hostel few days ago. we also have been traveling for 2 month so we booked and visit a lot of hotels and hostels along the way. we booked 2 night in this place, at first the place looked cool, clean and well design, but we felt that there is no proper place to hung out like usually there is in hostels. they have like a big table outside but the hostel surrounded by fences so it feels like the room is basic, you dont have any reason to stay in it, and if you wanna enjoy company of others you also cant, so basically a place only to sleep in. but the worse part was the girl that works in the reception. i never saw something like that. there are 2 girls the one we did check in was very very nice, but the one that replace her on night shift...terrible. we asked her for some thing and her answers where behind rud, not professional and she is the only reason we didnt stay extra night and left first thing in the morning. during the evening we had few word exchange with her and to be honest i was ready to leave santa teresa because i was so pissed off. hopefully her manager or the owner of this place will take care of it (she was very tall and with pony tale).

Great place to stay at. It was in a good location and close to good surf spots. Good walking distance to restaurant, bank, stores. The people that worked there were really cool and recommended surf spots.

The first thing you notice is the welcoming managers Josephina and Vanessa that takes care of you during your stay. They fast become your friends and help you out in everything from calling a taxi to managing excursions and shuttle service etc. Don't know something - ask these wonderful ladies.

The hostel is in a very good location - close to shop, restaurants, cafes and most important to the beach.

It's possible to rent a surf-board and also arrange surf lessons if needed.

Each morning you get freshly baked pancakes with fruits, but if want something else, the kitchen is fully equipped so you can prepare your own meal.

Only distraction could be the dust from the road, but it's the magic of Santa Teresa you can't escape if you want to travel there. Rooms were cleaned each day, but if you don't take care and come with sandy shoes in the room, of course, it's going to get dirty fast.

Anyway, would definitely recommend this place for solo travellers, backpackers, couples and friends who want to enjoy a great atmosphere. For me, few days stay turned out in two weeks because of the people I met and place itself.

Great staff, location, and accommodations. Can’t be beat!

Stayed in private dorm and the hostel had A/C, surf boards to rent, and connections with all local companies to book anything else you can imagine.

The staff is extremely helpful and always available when you need them.

One of my best hostel experiences.

A mate and I spent 4 days in Santa Teresa/Playa Carmen and had a blast surfing, yoga, eating and drinking our way through the beautiful sunsets. The only downside of this hostel is it's at the south of the town so a fair walk to SOME of the nightlife. But its fun, free breakfasts are pretty good, the beach is close, board rentals and surf lessons with Micky really really good (i'm intermediate and have never had a surf teacher with so much experience, enthusiasm and who really observes and helps you get better - really passionate and fun guy!). `Vanessa was really helpful, thank you! We stayed in both shared dorm and private room, both great for the price. Security guard all night was good for peace of mind though we never had any hassle in the town.
