We stayed at the Santorini Palace as part of a tour. In comparison to the other 3 hotels we stayed as part of our trip, this was the worst. The best part of the hotel was the location to restaurants and shops in Firostefani. It is a longer walk to get to the Firo shops but definitely walk-able. The room we were given felt like it was in a dungeon and was across the hall from the staff quarters. The staff would leave their door open and the cigarette smoke smell was very strong in the hallway to our room. Our room had an outdoor jacuzzi, but the water was so cold we didn't use it. Some of the staff was friendly and helpful, but others at the reception desk were bordering on rude. The breakfast buffet was good and offered many choices. We normally ate breakfast on the outdoor terrace which was lovely. The swimming pool was large and offered plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas.

It’s true that there are far more stunningly looking places available to stay in Santorini, and we debated how to play out our holiday for a while. East vs West of the island? Fira vs Oia vs Imerovigli? 4* vs 5*? So we settled on Santorini palace. We based our decision on value for money and position……and we were super happy with our choice. We got this hotel at a very reasonable price through Jet2 (which left more spending money…..think London prices for eating and drinking and you won’t be far off). This hotel couldn’t really be in a more perfect position. 5mins walk into Fira for all the bars and restaurants and shops, but it’s so quiet here you wouldn’t know it. 15mins to Imerovigli for more restaurants (I wouldn’t stay here tho because it’s true what people say. People are paying four figures to stay in some of the hotels here and you have zero privacy. People constantly walking in front of your hotel room. No thanks) Back to Santorini Palace. The room we were given was just down from the breakfast room, I wasn’t too keen, thought I’d be woken up every morning by breakfast goers. Not true tho, couldn’t really hear it and it didn’t disturb us much as breakfast didn’t start until 8am. Breakfast itself was a buffet and had cooked options, fruit, cereal, toast….the usual really. The room was a good size, a bit sparse but I got used to it. Fridge to keep drinks cool, decent bathroom. We had a little balcony, but mainly used it for drying clothes. The pool was really nice. We never really struggled to get a bed, people seemed to come and go throughout the day. We like to have chill time round the pool, so not fighting for a sun bed was important to us. Pool bar prices not extortionate. Room was cleaned every day. We had a late night flight back so asked for late check out (usual time is 11:30), they gave us a couple more hours so that was good. People go to Santorini for those postcard views, you need to be around the west side of the island for that. But be warned with this comes lots of steps! The East side is for the beaches, it’s flatter but far less picturesque. We hired a car for a couple of days and toured the beaches on the east side and down the south of the island. I’d recommend this as we had one tussle with the public transport and didn’t bother again, it’s inadequate for the number of people using it and taxis aren’t that cheap either. The hotel has plenty of free parking. Oia is good for the sunset and classic pictures, but it does get busy (the sunset is just as stunning from anywhere on the west side of the island). It’s also right at the top of the island, so you’re far away from the rest of the island up there. Staying at this hotel you’re 25-30mins from everywhere on the island! This is why I’d highly recommended this hotel. Good hotel, decent breakfast, nice pool, very central, good value for money.

just returned from a super week at this lovely hotel. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted and everyone working on reception during our stay were fantastic. Friendly, helpful and genuinely nice people. The hotel itself is very comfortable, nice rooms and public areas with a lovely pool area with plenty of space. It is kept spotlessly clean at all times and we really enjoyed staying here. Great choice for breakfast with a lovely sunny outdoor eating area if you prefer eating outdoors. The location suited us perfectly with an easy 10 min stroll into Thira itself, either by the incredibly scenic clifftop path or by the lane we soon discovered which runs behind the hotel and leads you straight into the centre. There is a very good choice of restaurants close to the hotel and it's also handy for a walk up the hill to the picturesque village of Imerovigli. Would definitely stay here again.

Location - brilliant. Just north of Fira town centre so you're not in the thick of it, but less than a 5 minute walk away from everything you need. We stayed in a 200 room which was in the middle of the complex, and had a garden view, but we spend very little time in the room whilst on holiday - if a view is important to you, the rooms on the upper floors definitely had good views. Cleanliness - let down a little bit here to be honest, which spoils the review. When we checked in we were asked how often we wanted the rooms clean as they only now clean upon request due to Covid. We asked for daily cleans which didn't come, and required prompting and re-prompting. Not great when you've been out all day and have purposefully left towels on the floor rather than hung up so they are changed, and they are not... Services - Plenty of free parking outside, definitely have a walk down to Tony's just down the road to rent a quad! Booking included breakfast which is buffet style and pretty comprehensive, albeit quite a lot of tinned rather than fresh fruit other than melon which was a little disappointing. Rooms are all very modern with good AC that works well and isn't intrusive volume wise. Plenty of sun loungers by the pool, which is adequately sized and free returnable towels to boot with no deposit or any other unnecessary carry on. Staff - very polite, friendly and attentive, aside from the cleaning issues being ignored. However, the cleaners who we spoke to in passing were also all very polite and friendly. Overall, very good value for money in terms of what you get, where you are and what is within very close walking distance.
