Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely apartments with a great pool and poolside bar, staff are excellent and the hotel is close to all of the attractions of Perissa, especially the brilliant Dorians pub ! The beach is just a few minutes walk in the opposite direction

Unfortunately for us this was the worst holiday experience we've had. very small tired room with constant smell of sewage, salt water to wash and brush your teeth with, tiny bathroom, no facilities in the room like bottled water, huge spider web in corner of room, poor quality breakfast with very little choice, broken sunbeds around the pool, noise from other guest at 04.00 in the morning, the list goes on. Staff were friendly and helpful, apart from walking into my room without knocking while I was using the toilet! We only lasted 2 nights before checking out and moving to another hotel at our expense.

The Gardenia is a friendly family run hotel in a great location halfway between the main strip and Perissa beach. Our room (number 17) was spacious and well appointed with an extra large balcony capturing the sun most of the day. The service was excellent with the towels changed daily and the bed linen every other day. The reception was friendly and helpful regarding trips, bus services and local amenities. Pool was a good size too and just warm enough to swim in despite being mid October. All in all for a reasonably priced, clean and friendly base in Perissa the Gardenia fits the bill.

What a lovely hotel. Location is a quick 5 minutes walk from the beach and the nearest supermarket is the same going in the other direction. The welcome we received when we arrived was great and everyone connected to the hotel is so helpful and friendly. We were given some sound advice about site seeing and the buses. (I will mention that some of the buses can be really full and you are packed in. My wife and I spent our whole journey at the bottom of the stairwell). The hotel and our room was very clean do hats off to the cleaners. There was a nice sized pool with plenty of sun beds and brollies. A nice little bar area for drinks and snacks. The breakfasts were adequate with hot and cold options. A lovely hotel and a lovely holiday

My daughter and I stayed for a week from 29 August. We stayed in a deluxe studio which was great for my daughter and me. The studio had a terrace that opened directly onto the pool. The studio had everything we needed and was modern, exceptionally clean and comfortable. The receptionists were really helpful with advice during the stay. Gardenia is really central and I would definitely recommend it

Just back from a pleasant week in Perissa having chosen Gardenia as our base. We were greeted warmly on arrival and shown to our room. It was a downstairs room facing the road with a small balcony that got the sun much of the day. The room was a reasonable size with decent wi fi, air con and a smallish flat screen tv that had functioning hdmi and usb sockets ( Firestick owners take note). Aircon is included which is a bonus. Toilet and shower room typical Greek, no problem. Towel along the floor against the door kept it quiet enough at night. We were B&B and that was the same each day with selection of teas, coffee, juice( cordial) cereals, breads, preserves, bacon, eggs, weird sausages, cheeses and salads. The usual sort of continental offerings. Choice of in or out to eat and it made a pleasant start to each day. The pool area is great and we always got a lounger, there are shaded areas too and a bar/snack bar serving good priced drinks and food. Pool is large and deep, cool initially when you get in but after that it’s fabulous. It isn’t a big hotel, less than 40 rooms, and room service was every day it appears. We politely said no a couple of times as it really wasn’t required. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend it to anyone unsure about visiting.

Check in was simple and efficient. Safety deposit boxes are available in reception for €1 a night which we thought was very reasonable. Our room (13) was very compact but comfortable enough. The bathroom had seen better days and could do with an overhaul. The sink slanted downwards so it was difficult to leave anything on it and there wasn’t a shelf so no alternative for storing toiletries. The toilet was in a tight corner which would be no good for a larger person. Shower had to be held to be used. Not uncommon in other places we have stayed in Greece. Cleaner kept the room clean. Bed was comfortable. Fridge in room. Breakfast was adequate to get the day started. Nothing fancy but good. Swimming pool and area was very clean and tidy. Pool was cold but it’s very deep (3m) at deep end so no chance of it ever getting warm. Pool bar was nice. Food good. Reasonable value comparable to restaurants outside. On the whole a good hotel in a good location just a short flat walk to the beach and most restaurants and short flat walk to Main Street bars and restaurants. They are a fair bit cheaper on Main Street.

Stayed here for 1 week 7th to 14th September 2023. Hotel is spotlessly clean and the sheers and towels are regularly changed and are brilliant white. If we ever needed towels and asked we always got them. Lovely pool but can only be accessed by ladders (there are 3) which doesn't suit everyone. The water us salt water and is a good temperature but the pool is quite deep and the shallow end is only shallow for about 2 foot across. The pool bar serves drinks food and snacks but was competitively priced compared to local restaurants. I had the special one day, stuffed pepper and tomato and potatoes for €9.50 which was delicious. The rooms are typically basic and a bit dated but all have air con and a safe which was only €1 per dsy. The bathroom is quirky with a stone step in shower which I haven't seen anywhere else but it was fine to use. Reception staff were all helpful but some had limited English but always tried and did get the job done. Breakfast is €10 per person per day and was OK. Selection of cereals, bread to eat or toast, pastries and cakes, cheese, ham, salad, yogurt, honey, tinned fruit, juice (not great), tea and coffee. Also some hot items: beans bacon, sausage, scrambled and boiled eggs but its not always very hot. The hotel is on a side road but us ideally situated for a walk along the road to restaurants, bars, shops and two 24 hour bakeries. Walk the other way to the beach and loads of restaurants. Fab holiday and would go back.

Arrived approx 10.30pm, greeted by a lovely receptionist called Andriana who showed us to our room. Very basic but clean. 1st impressions were impressive. Needed some local information the morning after, and was met by another courteous receptionist called Natalie. We spent time around the pool area and pool bar and had some great food prepared by Flora, who was great company. Beer and food was reasonably priced. Had a great time and would definitely return. Having read some previous negative reviews, we did not see anything but people being polite and helpful.
