The Gardenia Hotel garners praise for its exceptional cleanliness, with daily room service maintaining both rooms and common areas to high standards. Nestled in a prime spot, the establishment is just a short stroll from the beach and local attractions, endearing it to many travelers.
While rooms are noted to be clean yet somewhat dated, they offer solid value and essential comforts. Guests commend the generally attentive service and appreciate the pool area, though some have noted service and amenity inconsistencies.

The Hotel Gardenia is a lovely little gem nothing is to much trouble we requested a room with a pool view unfortunately on check in we were allocated a room facing the Main Street but first thing nxt morning we were offered a room across the corridor facing the pool . The pool area is lovely and the pool bar great .
The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis , and fresh sheets changed three times during our stay .
It’s in a lovely location a few mins stroll from the beach and just off the main road running through Perissa you will find Bob’s bar on Main road and it is great for all thou football lovers an Sport in general .
We hired a dune buggy for two days (120€) it’s a fantastic way to see the island though we found Thira and Oia to be very busy an very touristy though as it was peak season it was to be expected, we found a breathtaking place to watch the sunset at Caldera sunset view restaurant just 10 mins drive from Perissa we had a lovely romantic meal watching the sunset a real Shirley Valentine vibe.
We found the prices very reasonable a pint served in a glass straight out the freezer was €4 practically everywhere, an a meal for two with drinks was €40-€50…..Cocktails from 7/8€ though on the beachfront they were pricey nearly double. If you like music there are bars along the seafront with live music (Waves Bar ) deserves a special mention a fantastic duo who had the place rocking . There’s lots of cocktail bars also along the front.
The beaches aren’t great on Santorini and Perissa beach is dark shingle and getting into the sea was a challenge as it’s wet stoney and covered in algae so extremely slippy ……!!
We’ve travelled extensively throughout Greece,Turkey and the Mediterranean and Santorini has got to be one of the nicest places we’ve been to and the Gardenia a very special place .
We will return for sure as it was an amazing holiday all round ….,,

We stayed here from 29/07/22 to 05/08/22. This is a cracking little hotel, run by a lovely family. We stayed in room 16 which was perfect as it had a balcony overlooking the pool and bar area. The room was clean and tidy, which the cleaning staff worked very hard to keep clean every day. It is basic, as per most Greek hotels, but the air con is included in the room which is a nice touch. (on other Greek islands I have been to there has been a surcharge to use this) The only thing to bear in mind is the beds are quite low and very firm, but not uncomfortable.
The pool area is lovely and the bar is run by Fratzeskos and Flora who are both charming and very friendly. (Flora is an excellent cook!) 2 beers for 7 euros was a good price too. The pool and showers are salt water which isn't ideal, but tbh that is a very minor gripe in what is an excellent little hotel.
Breakfast is pretty much the same choices each day, but was tasty and the breakfast staff work very hard to keep it all topped up and the breakfast area clean and tidy.
The location is perfect, down a fairly quiet road less than a 5 minute walk from the beachfront and less than that to the main road in Perissa.
The best thing I can say about this hotel is that I would 100% come back to stay here without hesitation. 10/10 Loved it!

After booking a last minute holiday with easyjet, and reading some mixed reviews, I was a little apprehensive, but there was no need to be at all.
It is a lovely, authentic, Greek hotel. The room was basic but clean, with a good sized balcony. The cleaners came in and cleaned every day and provided fresh towels, the aircon worked brilliantly, and the shower was always warm. We were B&B and still had a fridge in our room which was a bonus. The food was ok at breakfast if your not a fussy eater - it is as you would expect. The pool area is beautiful, good sized pool and plenty of loungers. The water in the pool wasnt too cold either as it sometimes can be on holidays. The pool bar is cheap with a good selection of toasties, Greek Salads etc. The staff are lovely and the location of the hotel is great. A few minutes walk from the sea front where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from, and a few minutes walk in the other direction, inland, to the local supermaket, shops, and more restaurants, bars and the bus stop into Fira.

We got a package deal with Easy jet which was on sale, and we knew what we were expecting when it was that cheap and a 3* hotel in Santorini….please read below.
What we got, was not what we expected. It was shocking and should not be sold to people at all. We only stayed 2 nights out of 7 because it was that bad!
I will start with the good bits…it was clean for what it was..the cleaners make an effort to make it presentable which is nice. Otherwise, nothing good to say hence the 2 star rating
Firstly, the pictures you see are pretty deceptive and the good looking rooms…there is probably only 2 of them in the whole place.
We were room 6 - which is on ground floor. Next to us was a cleaning cupboard and a few doors down was the breakfast room…NOISE NOISE NOISE from 6am until ungodly hours.
Not pleasant at all!
In our ceiling there must be some sort of water pipe, and whenever someone above (or somewhere in the place) turned the water on, all you can hear is water running through pipes..the first night we were there, my partner was woken up by it being so loud, she thought the water was in our room (not exaggerating either)
Drains were incredibly smelly, to the point you’d walk into the room and first thing you smell was Poo! I know they cant control the drains much, but it was by far so bad as if the sewers were directly Below us!
The water was full of Salt and the lady at reception had the cheek to tell us that it was like that everywhere on the Island..we quickly learnt that was not the case when we checked in to our other place, hardly a hint of salt in that water. Liars!
The room was super dark, even with all the lights on, it was dark. Only option was to open the curtains and doors (and get extra sweaty) which meant everyone walking past can just see you! No privacy at all.
The bed was like being in prison! Mattress was no thicker than a tortilla ! It was so thin and old, so uncomfortable! Wouldn’t even give us an extra pillow!
The bathroom in general was horrible! The curtains looked all mouldy, and they didn’t even keep the water in, may aswell just shower in the whole bathroom. Not to mention the shower head had no holder! So imagine, Salt water, shampoo and holding the shower head, whilst trying not to flood the place, whilst smelling foul Smell from the drains all at once…terrible! Come out the shower sweatier than I went in.
Lastly, the pool looked good, but good luck getting a bed. Everyone had towels down even tho there was 4 people there (this was 11am) it was a joke and quite frankly, glad we didn’t stay at the pool, as the beach pools was much nicer and only a few minutes up the road.
All in all I recommend you spend a little more and stay somewhere else.

This is a quiet, relaxing, clean small hotel. We had a studio overlooking the pool. The room had a fridge and sufficient utensils and a portable electric hob if you wanted to cook (we didn’t).
The shower was hot and powerful and the rooms were cleaned well on a daily basis.
The pool was lovely, not crowded and there were enough sun beds for all. The only thing I would mention is that perhaps a small amount of maintenance could be given to a few of the sun beds and chairs and the dining area to the right of the bar just needed a little tidying but this certainly didn’t detract from the charm of the hotel.
The pool bar was good, Mythos beer very reasonably priced as were the snacks and small meals served.
I would have given the hotel 5 stars if there was a hotel bar or somewhere to sit and drink/eat in evening once pool bar closed. Other than that the hotel was a wonderful place to relax and unwind - near to beach (care taken when entering water as rocks very slippery) and lots of lovely places to eat.

Hotel near shops and not far from beach, restaurants and bars. Nice pool area with a lovely lady Flora serving drinks and snacks. Rooms very basic, bathroom tiny with hand held shower. Our room overlooked waste ground and a nearby building site, best rooms are the pool rooms. The breakfast was good with a large selection but the ‘hot’ food was always cold even at 8am when the breakfast room opened. The kitchen/ cleaning staff work very hard and supply fresh towels daily. All in all a pleasant stay

Stayed here for 1 week 7th to 14th September 2023.
Hotel is spotlessly clean and the sheers and towels are regularly changed and are brilliant white. If we ever needed towels and asked we always got them.
Lovely pool but can only be accessed by ladders (there are 3) which doesn't suit everyone. The water us salt water and is a good temperature but the pool is quite deep and the shallow end is only shallow for about 2 foot across.
The pool bar serves drinks food and snacks but was competitively priced compared to local restaurants. I had the special one day, stuffed pepper and tomato and potatoes for €9.50 which was delicious.
The rooms are typically basic and a bit dated but all have air con and a safe which was only €1 per dsy.
The bathroom is quirky with a stone step in shower which I haven't seen anywhere else but it was fine to use.
Reception staff were all helpful but some had limited English but always tried and did get the job done.
Breakfast is €10 per person per day and was OK. Selection of cereals, bread to eat or toast, pastries and cakes, cheese, ham, salad, yogurt, honey, tinned fruit, juice (not great), tea and coffee. Also some hot items: beans bacon, sausage, scrambled and boiled eggs but its not always very hot.
The hotel is on a side road but us ideally situated for a walk along the road to restaurants, bars, shops and two 24 hour bakeries. Walk the other way to the beach and loads of restaurants.
Fab holiday and would go back.

Just returned from 9 days at this Hotel arrived late in the evening greeted by a friendly receptionist who shown us to our rooms, Rooms a little dated and basic but functional for our stay as we only ever really slept in there.
Rooms were always very clean always fresh we stayed in Room 26 and the cleaner we have to say was exceptional always did a good job and we often saw her working very long hours and always doing her absolute best she is a credit to this hotel.
Breakfast offering was decent a good selection of products available made by the hotel staff was always available.
Pool area was nice staff worked hard to keep the area not sure about the pool itself as didn't see it being cleaned during our stay. Sunbeds decent was never a mad dash for a sunbed in the mornings. Pool Bar reasonably priced lady that ran it friendly and made some very nice home made food often had lunch there decent offering on the menu that was available. Beer was decent also.
Enjoyed our stay at the Gardenia and would certainly stay at this hotel again. Hotel is located in a decent area close to bars and restaurants and the main promenade of perissa where there was a good selection of places to eat and drink.

Visited the first day of the 2024 season, booked via a travel agent so was unsure until I arrived what to expect The plus point, great location. Short walk from sea front, with own pool hotel and meet some lovely guests. It was very clean, room turned over daily and I felt very safe even with a ground floor room facing the quiet street.
Places for improvement the hotel was incredibly tired, needed a revamp. The breakfast dining area had far too many tables and chairs in a small space meaning some tables were left unoccupied as there wasn't space to back to back chairs to be pulled out to sit on. The cooked breakfast was the same daily with some "interesting" combinations, and fresh "juice" being cordial. The cooks doubled up as the cleaners and it was difficult to know staff from holiday makers as there weren't uniforms, name tags or something that it was easy to guess.
Any issues with the rooms yielded a charge. A couple that visited every year for 7 years and were known by the hotel staff we charged over €120 when they requested another room due to mobility issues to access the room by stairs the same charge whrn another requested a room that was on the shaded side of the hotel. I wasn't happy with my room, buy accepted it as didn't want to waste time on hy holiday addressing after flagging to my travel agent who appeared disinterested in helping.

Stayed at Gardenia from 13th -24th august, great hotel in a great location down a side street, turn left for the beach about 5 minutes and right for a supermarket for your water and other bits also Dorians bar just below on the right hand side which is great value and Grandmas recipes for food which they also deliver to Dorians!.
The Hotel is a great base with a good pool area and people do put towels down but I had no issues getting a bed but I suppose it should be addressed as people do disappear.
I had an issue with my pop up plug in the sink which was resolved straight away,my only niggle was the shower as it only had a single brick tray round it and no curtain and every time we showered the room was wet as well with only a tiny little floor towel that did very little, luckily I had a spare beach towel to use but again something that could possibly be addressed with a shower curtain.
Would like to mention the staff, room cleaned and towels changed if left on the floor, bed changed every day if needed, pool bar looked after by the lovely Flora who works on her own and does lovely food, you may have to wait to be served when she is preparing in the back but are you in a rush when your on holiday?.
All in all a great stay and met some great people,Would and probably will stay again,if not would pop in just to say hello to Flora,Just think Greek and enjoy a lovely laid back holiday, the Greek people and the Gardenia,Thank you😃.
