Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A short walk from the beach, a quiet hotel on the main street. The hotel complex consists of 3 buildings, in the main building there is a bar and breakfast room downstairs, behind the building there is a small swimming pool with sunbathing chairs. the hotel itself is in good condition, the rooms are in retro style and would need a little repair (the refrigerator door link was stuck with one screw, the water pipe of the toilet pot was dripping, some lights in the room were not lit), otherwise it was quiet to stay at night and there was no noise. The breakfast was poor, perhaps you had to go relatively at the opening time so that things didn't run out, on a couple of days the coffee was transparent, perhaps very, very weak. But for those who only want to stay overnight and move around the island during the day, the village and hotel are perfectly suitable, there are plenty of taverns and cafes nearby, the beach is rocky and the water is mostly pebble. The water gets deep very quickly, so the area is not recommended for small children.

We had a sea view room and it was fine. The bed was big and comfy and there was plenty of storage space. And the sockets were in the right places (how often are they not!). There was enough hot water except on rainy or very cloudy days. The bathroom was OK. It worked. Not fashionable but it did the trick. We didn't use the breakfast facilities for reasons nothing to do with the hotel itself so I can't comment on that. Antione was really friendly and what we saw of the cleaning staff, so were they. The only let down was the pool. The photographs give the impression of a large pool. It isn't. If you wanted a pool for exercise rather than lolling about in, I think you'd be a bit disappointed but there are other pools that you can use. I would stay there again.

Basic accommodation. Description said Pool and Bar. Pool is bath size and the bar is shut
Breakfast items are first come first served so missed out on a lot
Good position for many restaurants and bars. Having explored there are certainly numerous better places to stay

The good bits first. I had effective aircon, fridge, a comfortable bed and received clean line along with towels every two days. I experienced hot water most evenings except when it rained. However I did notice that the pressure reduced when more guests arrived. There are two main members of staff that you will see (only between 8am and 3 pm) and they do their best to help with queries.
I found breakfast to be adequate for the type and size of the hotel which included, fruits yoghurts, jams, boiled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, toast, bread, cake, coffee, juice and water.

The less good bits. The room was in the older part of the hotel, the original building by the side of the road. My door handle was a threaded bar, it seemed to be the inside mounting of a ceramic handle that will have been broken long before my arrival. The room furniture is dated and an attempt had been made to brighten it up by paining it white by hand. There was no sower curtain or wall mounting attachment for a rinse. The shower tray/Greek bath had a moulded basin to stand in and a seating area, it was bizarre and uncomfortable but got the job done. A standard shower tray is much safer and more comfortable to use. I did not notice anyone attending the bar during the day, this was probably because the small equilateral triangle pool isn't used very much and didn't really seem that inviting.
Overall this wasn't good value for money and I wont stay there again. However if you are tempted to stay ask fir photos of the room that you have been allocated. If the owner can't/won't stump up for a new door handle it sets expectations really low that any investment has been made.

We have recently returned to Norway after two wonderful weeks at the Hotel Michaelia in Petra. Our views are of course coloured by being two well grown-up couples who don't much like being roasted beside a pool, and are looking more for the genuine Greek hospitality than for luxury and the cool professional attitude you can find in the big hotels whichever country you visit.

Nevertheless, we could also see that a family of five, with children from 5 to 10 years, enjoyed their stay immencely.

Our room had balconies towards the sea, with only the road between. A wonderful place to sip an ouzo while watching the spectacular sight of the sun going down into the Egaean, before going out for dinner.

The rooms were adequate, spotlessly clean and with AC. The breakfast buffet had everything we needed, and the garden was a nice place to sit and relax with a cup of coffe in the afternoon.

We can't talk about the Michaelia without mentioning the owner and our hostess, Maria, a wonderful woman who made us feel very welcome, and had very interesting plans for the future of the hotel. We are looking forward to return and see what happens.

But please, Maria, don't do anything that changes the atmosphere of your hotel, it's just perfect!

John

Loved this hotel! The service was excellent and very very friendly! It's located just across the beach and I could just sit in the balcony and gaze at the sea for hours. The breakfast was very delicious and the place was really, really clean everywhere! I certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy his holiday.

We stayed here for a week. The hotel is a classical pearl in functional style but has seen better days. The pool area is nice but had a wasp-nest under the floor. The room was ok, the toilet smelled weird and the coffee was undrinkable! The breakfast is not worth the money. It’s better to eat at a restaurant or buy your own food. A nice garden and beautiful location directly by the Mediterranean!

Very near to center. Just 2min by walk. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. View is wonderful. Very close to beach. Market is near to hotel. No coffee-tea facilities in room. No idea for pets. You can park your car, in front of the hotel, free.

My first time ever in Lesbos and the stay at Michaelia contributed to a lovely experience. Rooms are small, but in Lesbos you want to enjoy the beach and seafront tavernas. Bathroom rather small and a shower curtain should be installed to avoid soaking everything. The front rooms have lovely view of the bay in Petra and the sunset. Rooms tend to get a little warm in the evenings, but a split air conditioner solves the issue. A little noise from traffic at night, but generally a quiet place. The staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help.
