We stayed in the Theofilos Superior for 10 days and it was superb. Yet we heard from other guests that they had some complaints about water pressure, electricity and broken shower parts. We did not have those problems whatsoever. The family who manage this hotel are very sweet, they seem to work around the clock. I would have given 5/5 if the wellness and second pool were operable.

Theofilos is a complex of older and new apartments in the heart of Petra.
I have stayed in both and there are many differences. So before booking here make sure which side you'll choose.
The rooms in the older building are standard (not spacious, not all renewed); in the new building they are superior (huge all grand new decoration with big balconies).
The studio we last stayed was a superior one and there were kitchen facilities like home: mini refrigerator, microwave oven, electric kettle and coffee maker and two stovetops!
Breakfast is served in the old building and it's satisfying.
There is an air-condition without extra charge, every day room cleaning and free parking and wi-fi.
There is one more new outside pool, an exercise room and an inner whirlpool at the lower level of the new building.
All staff was very kind, friendly and helpful.
We surely enjoyed our staying here and we'll come back.

First of all- as other reviewers have pointed out- it must be made clear that there are two, quite different hotels, with the name Theofilos . One is the older building - which I suspect is in need of renovation, and the other one is the Superior - where we stayed-which is brand new with a large pool and nice public areas. The rooms have the great advantage of being really spacious- almost huge! ( strangely enough the beds are small and the tv tiny!) . The bathrooms are also spacious with jacuzzi baths but, unfortunately, they present some problems( water leaking under the bath , to name one).. The staff are really nice and do more than their best to satisfy the guests ( a special thanks to adorable Eleni) . Most rooms are equipped with everything you need to make your own breakfast - which is just as well because the breakfast ( included in the price) served in the older building is poor quality and the coffee horrible ( the truth is that when you pay about 50 euros per day , you can't expect much) All and all it is a fine economical choice and Petra is a great location to explore the magnificent north part of the island.

We stayed in the new part of the hotel. We ask to upgrade from the old cheaper part of the hotel. The rooms in the older part of the hotel are good but don't accomadate 4 people so we ask if we could upgrade so my sister, her children and myself could stay in one place. It wasn't expensive and it was definitely worth it. The apartament was fantastic. Great room, nice breakfast. Friendly staff doing everything to make your stay comfortable.

We (couple 50+) just returned from Theofilos Hotel at Pétra, Lesbos and had great stay at these premises. We stayed in a very nice specious studio (incl. kitchenette) at the Apolo building of Theofilos Superior. Initially we booked a double room at the Classic hotel but changed it to Superior upfront after I mailed the hotel for an upgrade. We got a very prompt reply from the friendly manager Dimitris (who speaks Dutch as well!) that we could have the upgrade to Superior for a modest surcharge that we paid after arrival. We didn't regret it! The Superior rooms/apts are really very nice. We checked the Classic rooms as well; they are smaller, have a bit dated furniture but really good beds and also have AC. However, for a modest surcharge you will have much more comfort at the Superior. Staff is very very friendly and make you feel most welcome. The lady at the Superior poolbar (Wula) is a true sweetheart and makes delicious dishes for very modest prices. We had lunch with her almost every day of our stay and she always did her utmost to serve us delicious food. Half a liter of good white housewine will cost you Euro 3,50......Housekeeping is very friendly and professional as well, fresh towels every day and daily cleaning service (except Sundays). Beds are very good, we had good sleeps every night and the AC works perfectly. Bathroom was OK as well, always plenty of hot water, and enough space. Both pools at Classic and Superior are very clean and so are the surroundings at the pools. Breakfast is good, plenty of choices and fresh baked eggs, scrambled eggs, cheeses, ham, melon, Greek yoghurt, cereals, French toast (baked the Greek way, very nice if you eat them with a bit of honey or jam), cakes. The only thing we didn't like was the coffee at breakfast (too weak and too salty to our taste) but Wula at the poolbar makes very nice (iced) coffees for a modest price. However, we advice the management to place a coffee or nespresso machine in the breakfast area that makes cappuccino, espresso etc. (against a charge for instance 2 Euro, I'm sure that many Dutch will use it). Distance to the seaside and the center of Pétra is a 8 minute walk only. Nearest ATM about 12/14 minutes walk. The walk to the center of Pétra is a pleasant occasion through some picturesque Greek streets/alleys. However, not so suitable for people that cannot walk properly due to the rugged and uneven pavement of the streets/alleys, but we enjoyed every walk to/from the center. Most of the Island population will greet you in a very friendly way. They truly appreciate if you greet them in their own language ("kali mera" during the day, "kali spera" after 5pm and "kali nighta" when you wish them good night). In Pétra you will find many nice restaurants, bars, terraces all against very modest prices. Our favorite restaurant (we went there 3 times!) was the Mermaid restaurant at the end of the boulevard (seaside). It's easy to find, when you walk down to the seaside then turn right at the sea and keep on walking for about 10/15 minutes and you will find the Mermaid (family)restaurant on you left at the seaside. Really fantastic (fish) food (ask for the catch of the day). Their red mullet together with their special rice (made by "la Mama" herself) is HEAVEN!. Prices are less then half the price we would pay for the same food in Holland and their white housewine is served for a price you would pay for a bottle of mineral water in any Dutch restaurant. Last but not least, the media did a lot of negative publications regarding the island of Lesbos (inconvenience due to fugitives) and this did hit their economy very hard. However, during our whole stay at Pétra and the tours we made to other villages we have not seen a single fugitive! We will certainly come back to Pétra AND to Theofilos Hotel. A big "thank you" to Dimitris, Wula, all friendly staff at Theofilos and to all nice Lesbos people who made our stay a most pleasant occasion!

We were in Lesvos island in Julys first week. The island is very nice, no disturbing music bars or discos. Hotel is in the middle of the ordinary peoples houses, it is a small village with three maybe four churces. Houses have max two floors and they are clean and nice looking. Locals are very polite and friendly like everywhere in Greece. Kids could be out and play quite late.
Allthough we had breakfast we had to buy some delicates from the local bakeries, food stores because prices are in very low level if you compare them to Finland. Food in restaurants was fresh, exellent good and excellent cheap. Weather is quite hot and the wind is weak and warm, warm is water in the sea too.
Petra is a small village where not so much to see. It is place where you can go and totally relax. No young people, most of tourists were a little older who were there to spend a little longer time.
Hotel Theofilos is nice , a quite large hotel with an older part and with a newer part. Both hotels had an own swimming pool. All rooms had aircondition that included in the price.
Breakfast was normal bread, cheese, ham, eggs, tomato and cucumber style with coffee, tea and juice. But personal is so nice and friendly and helpful as it can be. In the Lesvos island is more small villages to visit and they are in our next summer objects. This island is a place were you can forget your work and other sorrows or trobles and relax. We truly recommend this hotel and place.

Although the grounds of the hotel are beautiful, the rooms of the classic part of the hotel need a serious makeover! The bed was small and we were afraid of it breaking at any moment. The bathroom is tiny. The shower head was broken and the toilets were leaking. The TV only has Greek channels. The WiFi didn't work in the room...the cleanness of the common parts could be better. There are birds nests on the hallways and in the week we spent there the bird poop never got cleaned off the floor. we went off season and some amenities were closed : no fitness center, no spa, no restaurant... 😕 The halfpension is exclusive drinks and was a meal without choices. The staff is very nice, like I said it's a family hotel. But there. Is room for improvement.

We go for trip with our kids team and we reserved this hotel. In the site it looks nice but there is a trap........ Behind the photos you see of the new hotel with pool and nice colors there is another part of the very old hotel. It has a pool with no water and the building must be 40-50 years old . The rooms was very dirty the blankets have hair on them ,we have no hot water (they fixed later) ,in other rooms there is only hot water and no cold water. The food was not good and the coffee terrible. It was the worst hotel I ever been in my life....Real sorry for them ....

The hotel consist of in 2 parts: one is the superior just modernized and the second one is classic that needs a modernization. We staied overnight in the classic.
Windows and doors should be changed due to the noise that don’t permit sometimes a comfortable sleep.
When I am on holiday I don’t like watching television, but I suggest to put at least one channel with the news in English.
The position of the hotel is good to visit Petra and to have a walk in this nice village although it is not so close to the beach.
I suggest to rent a scooter or a car to see and swim in the southern beaches of the Island for me better than the northern.
Breakfast is good and the staff is kind.

At the beginning we had major problems, the first room we got smelled disgusting, the second room had a broken air conditioner and we had two floods. So it all depends on what kind of room you get. We had a third luck and the last room was OK. We had a little kitchen that has an old sink and a small but good fridge. The bathroom was very small. Hotel had his own swimming pool. WIFI didn't really work. Cleaning ladies were very friendly, and the old lady (I assume the owner of the hotel) was unkind. Just to let you know, Petra is a small village where you don't have so much to see and you don't have a place to party. The location of hotel isn't so nice because you have to walk 1 km to the sandy and nice beach (I recommend the beach under a beach bar Yako Summer).
