We had a wonderful week here at Furore, the accommodation was perfect with 2 lovely patios overlooking the blue blue sea. The apartment was spotless with great facilities, super fast internet and free parking. Rosa and the residents of Via Mola were so friendly and helpful and with us having no Italian everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The local bus is the best way to get around, driving was a nightmare to say the least, Rosa has all timetables for local buses and ferries and we really felt that it was much easier and less stressful to use those rather than our car. Quiet, peaceful and away from the tourist droves it was a perfect haven
My family drove a car from Rome to stay in Furore and along the Amalfi Coast for my 30th birthday. Though the drive up to Furore could be challenging and scary at times I loved having a car (probably more of a challenge listening to backseat drivers than the actual driving itself). However at this location you are across the street from the bus stop down to Amalfi and walking distance to groceries, bar and a restaurant. Staying here Il Rifugio di Ela was my favorite part of my birthday trip. The evenings outside having dinner with my family, the towns murals, the views and the convince/hospitality make me wish we had stayed more than 3 nights!
We have just returned from an enjoyable 10 night stay at Il Rifugio di Ela. We travelled from Naples airport in around 2.5 hours, but that's because it took us 1.5 hours to find our way out of Naples due to the complete lack of signage - make sure you turn right out of the car hire centre and not left if you hire a car at the airport. We received a warm and friendly greeting from our hosts and given a thorough tour of the accommodation before allowing us to de-stress from the the flight/Naples. They then acted descretely for the remainder of our stay which we appreciated. The accommodation was spacious and excellent. It was simply furnished but everything was as it should be and the private garden (ca 300 metres above sea level) offered a stunning view over the Amalfi Coast. I enjoyed many an hour relaxing, looking at the view and sampling the excellent Furore wine purchased locally. Furore is spread vertically over 500 metres which means that the drive from the fijord to the top is around 20km - I am not kidding - it is a 30-45 minute drive and at the end you are no more than 3 km horizontally from the start!! There are some excellent places to eat along the route but if you don't want to drive there is an excellent pizzeria next door - the owners don't have fantastic English but their patience with our poor Italian and their friendliness and desire to make you welcome and give you what you want was a delight - lovely people :) The pizza and wine is excellent too. I have one issue with the accommodation that needs calling out. The property was previously a B&B and as such the two bedrooms are separate entities connected along an external walkway. This would be ok with teenagers or two groups of adults but might be a problem if you have young children as they are effectively in another building. The Amalfi Coast is a very popular tourist destination and as such can be extremely crowded and hassly - the location of Il Rifugio di Ela allows you to enjoy the area but retreat to somewhere calmer at the end of the day.…
Beautiful view, beautiful place, spacious rooms, clean, amazing service and great hospitality of Antonio´s family. We stay days longer than it was planned and we would stay unitl now if possible. I can only recommend it. Worthy to drive every day to the coast towns.
Incredible views, very clean and wonderfully fresh rooms. But the best part of our stay was the hospitality of Rosa, Antonio, Daniella and Chiara! They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and cared for. They went above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed from finding the right transportion and advising us on excursions. Breakfast on the terrace was delightful and delicious with a fabulous view of the ocean. Can't say enough nice things about Il Rifugio di Ela! Highly recommend it. When I return to the region I will definitely return to Furore and stay with Rosa and her family again! Thank you Rosa!
