La Tonnara is located in the middle of paradise, looking out towards the spectacular Monte Cofano. The resort has all kinds of facilities and services so that your stay is truly delightful without a worry in the world, these include: a restaurant with an à la carte menu, swimming pool with wonderful coastal views, private beach area, the tower museum, tennis courts and football pitches, a lounge bar, water activities, tours of Sicily’s nature reserves and trips to Trapani’s amphitheater, among others. The resort is located where the tuner fishers, known as tonnarotti, would arrive at the end of the afternoon with fresh tuna after a hard day’s fishing at sea. They are the inspiration for the decoration and design of the spaces, creating an environment where marine elements combine with Majolica pieces, authentic ceramics hand-painted by the province’s residents. La Tonnara di Bonagia will stimulate all your senses. Our priority is that you leave with a smile from ear to ear.

Just left this resort and it was fabulous. Lovely resort, helpful staff, beautiful rooms, and an absolutely stunning pool.

The only small thing for me, was that the dinner, buffet style, didn’t have any fly covers, so flies walked all over the food.

Another small thing is that (out of the control of the staff, of course, but something they could maybe address) the closest shop (the MD) is about 1km away, so if you want to go buy water it is a bit of a trek. It would be good if they had a shuttle for a small fee, or even a little convenience shop on-site (with low prices! Water is an essential!!) but of course if you drive, there is parking so it’s really something to help those not in a car.

A shuttle bus from trapani town to the resort would be useful as well for non-driving guests, again for a small fee (it’s only about 15km away so perhaps investing in a minibus or seven seater van would be a benefit for them? Charging enough to cover fuel plus say €5 per passenger would work, I think? Might be worth costing out to see if worth it. I paid €25 for a taxi there, which as a solo traveller was a lot for a short journey, but I guess for a couple would be fine….

Oh, and they say Wi-Fi is free, but when I went to link to it there was a cost, so not sure what happened there?

Will definitely return. It was a gorgeous resort and I really enjoyed my time there. But will defo borrow a friends car to get there and get my water trips done!

The location is very special, an old tuna factory converted in hotel but the overall experience in this hotel is very disappointing. Starting form the "+". Rooms are large and clean, beds are confortable. There is a panoramic view to the sea and the surronding mountains, romantic sunsets. Now let's move to the "-". There is not beach, there should be a strip of grass but there is only soil with sunbeds. Sunbeds were realy dirty. The platform to access the sea was crowded by people, not hotel guests. One evening we went to the hotel restaurant we had booked in the morning. We were "welcomed" by a rude waiter shouting us because according to him we had no reservation. I explained him I had booked in the morning at reception following the instructions we received at our arrival. He said I had to book directly with him, this is quite unusual and not very professional because I didn't know who he was nor where to find him. At the end we got a table and during the dinner he came to apologize because he better checked and he found our reservation. We are human we can make mistakes but his behaviour and arrogance were unacceptable. We waited long time to be served. Food was good. The morning we left no one form the staff to help with luggages. This hotel doesn't worth the price.

Superb stay in this gorgeous quaint hotel in Bonagia. The reception staff were so helpful and kind and made us feel like we could ask for anything. The breakfast buffet became a bit of a fight in the morning, but learning more about the Italians around a buffet, we couldn’t eat during the dinner buffet dinner either for this reason. No shade on the staff, but if you’re going up against this beast then get your elbows greased. The pool area was superb as was the beachy area. Room was clean and beautifully decorated. Our view was absolutely stunning, overlooking the small fishing village, courtyard and we could even see Erice on top of the hill. Desperately romantic and the perfect way to end our trip. Thank you so much!

This hotel has the potential to be a really relaxing, enjoyable, refreshing experience but unfortunately, it is not...

The location is excellent, beautiful sunsets, however the hotel rooms, though bright and clean, lack fundamental qualities required for a restful holiday. Paper thin walls and a primitive 70’s drainage system mean you get to know your neighbours intimately, hearing their every toilet flush and what film they are watching into the night.

We visited during Covid so of course expect some compromises, but breakfast is shambolic. A very angry seeming thin pale waiter holds court over the breakfast bar, rushing guests to choose their food like school children, barking orders and creating a very stressful atmosphere.

One evening, we tried to go to the hotel restaurant as the local one was closed. This same waiter was fuming with rage at our audacity for not having booked in advance and basically shouted at us (this was not flagged at check in) “You need to let us know in advance” he repeated. This was rather shocking and in no way welcoming, especially considering that I am seven months pregnant and was only looking for a bit of dinner, in the hotel we were staying at for six nights.

Instead of being chastised, we left and got a take away pizza which was probably much nicer. We did complain but the staff did nothing to make us feel more welcome, and the waiter continued with his attitude at breakfast, so we stopped going.

There was one lovely waiter, who wore glasses, who really was welcoming and polite. I hope he gets promoted soon, as without him staff really do lack all the qualities needed for hospitality.

Whilst the resort was fine, it was not a great location, the room was very dated and an uncomfortable bed and worst of the food was diabolical. The food was sub-standard, not generous at all and above all not tasty! This does not represent the authentic taste of Italian food and standards. I hate to say this but at times mosquitos were landing on the food which were exposed.
The service was mediocre - staff could barely speak English and some were in fact unfriendly and did not seem to take pride in their jobs. The temparature at the pool was cold and the spa was controlled by the lifeguard but only if you ask him to turn it on.

This resort is not of 4 star quality. However, they had a free wine tasting session and gave a free bottle of wine upon arrival. It's ok if you don't want to venture out or taste better food.

I got the suite, which was rightfully shown having an amazing window looking at the sea. Unlikely the window was so dirty that it was impossible to see anything.

The room did not offer mini bar (it was a suite), and was missing most of the standard amenities (e.g. napkins).

At the check out, the staff didn’t even bother to ask how our staying was.

The location would be really amazing, it’s a shame it is poorly managed.

Nice pool and you can go directly into the sea from a platform. The room was very dated and old fashioned - needs updating. We only had breakfast in the hotel which was ok. There is a pizza van in the evenings in town go there for fabulous authentic pizza in the evening.

Together with my boyfriend (which is speaks italian) we arrived in the hotel and the first impression was let‘s say a not very welcomming .. Then unfortunately we had very long discussions with the reception cause they showed us 2 rooms which were totally different to the one we booked but finally after 1 1/2 hours we had our room. I’m really not a negative person but honestly especially one person at the reception which later claimed to be the manager (but wasn‘t the manager only the substitute) was very unfriendly and I just don‘t understand why ..Since I am staying in a lot of hotels caused by my job I have a comparison and that following thing never happend to me in my whole career... in the evening two people entered our room with their card the receptionista gave to them ..
After that situation I wanted to talk to the manager cause well that‘s a big safety problem.. so next morning I went there because they said the manager would be here but instead it was again the cheerless receptionista with the words „hi I am the manager“ (which she obviously wasn’t ) It‘s kind of questionable if this is the right way to treat your guests..

mistakes happen we‘re human but proffessionalism is shown in the way you react afterwards ..

Just one last thing as we left the hotel there was one very friendly guy (salvatore?) his service was really over the top and we were even allowed to get a little breakfast even though it was very early thank you very much that was a great service of you!:)

Dear Ms Meghan, first of all I would like to thank you for selecting "La Tonnara di Bonagia" for your vacation in Sicily and for taking the time to send us your feedback. I am truly sorry to read that we were not able to match your expectations and to correct the situation before you left the property. I would like to inform you that the lady you spoke to is indeed our accommodation manager, nevertheless I wish to apologize for our inability to make you feel listened and well taken care of. The highlighted situation will certainly be a reason for me to arrange some additional guest relations training in order for all of us to be more attentive to our guest's needs. I will certainly share your positive words with Salvatore and I will be available should you wish to contact me to discuss about your experience personally. With my deepest apologies and best regards, Steven Ceschia General Manager

We arrived at the hotel angry because there was no sign for the hotel and we had to drive the same road twice. To find a hotel, you need to follow the sign - "museo di tonnara!
When entering the hotel territory, it is not easy to find the reception, because it is hidden behind the word "porticiollo" (for a foreign tourist it does not mean anything and a small reference to the reception on a sunny day is not visible). The confirmation email does not indicate that check-in is from 15:00. All this made us angry and to discuss with the front desk staff.
Fortunately, the next four days were more than great: the hotel has a great location, panoramic views, a family-friendly pool (customers are provided with beach hats and towels), a beach (very small sandy area, rocky coastline but very clean water), clean and comfortable rooms. Compliments should be given to the staff - very professional, polite and available, especially Davide, Isodoro and Nicola. Great restaurant - in terms of the style and food. Every evening we were going to the restaurant with impatience to find out what the menu for this evening will be like! Ahh, another thing - a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset.

"-" no reference to the hotel, no reception reference (instead of "porticiollo" which says nothing to the foreigner), no confirmation of the chech-in time from 15:00 in the confirmation email
"+" location, panoramic view, family-friendly pool, beach (small sandy part, rocky coast, but very clean water), clean and comfortable rooms, professional and friendly staff, great restaurant and choice of food.
