This is probably our 10th visit over the past 5 years or so, and it never disappoints. Was really nice to stay in Lodge 6 (a lodge we haven't stayed in before). The positioning of the lodge couldn't be any better, close to the lake, and more importantly gets the sun all day! It's a propper little sun trap and we have come away having caught the sun by spending most our time sat outside or in the hot tub. Couldn't have timed it any better weather wise at all 18th to 22nd April. If your in to your fishing, its well worth taking your gear, I always catch hear using simple tactics and if I'm honest I don't think most the fish have ever seen a hook, they are in pristine condition, free from any mouth damage etc and they really do scrap hard. I honestly think there is a real opportunity to develop the lakes further, possibly reduce the number of reeds (as they are spreading well in to the lake now), add some additional species that would thrive in the lakes such as Tench, Chub, Ide. People would then come specifically to fish the lakes alone, with Angling holidays so popular in the UK. Here are just a few of the Carp caught over 4 days, fishing just 2 to 3 hours a day, mostly evenings/late afternoons. Lost count how many we ended up on in the end! Many thanks for yet another enjoyable and much needed short break!…
We booked a lodge for a last minute weekend getaway (booked late on the Friday afternoon!) and rocked up at about 8pm. The office was very friendly and helpful when arranging the booking and collection. Out of hours pick up of keys and instructions were very well organised and easy to follow, and our first impressions were fantastic. The lodge itself was very clean and had everything. Great view and very peaceful setting, could just hear the seaside in the distance, which we loved. I think it is very reasonably priced and would thoroughly recommend to anyone considering booking a stay, we are already eyeballing dates for a return visit :)
Wow what can I say. We booked this early this morning and arrived late this evening. I checked in over the phone with the lady who was so lovely. She organised for the gates to open when we arrived which is great as it felt really secure. Got the keys no problem from a Fri box and found our lodge easily. The lodge is to die for. Everything you could wish for. When we pulled up you can see why it’s part of the autograph range. Beautiful grounds and it’s dark so I’m excited to explore in the morning. The lady left some logs in the lodge for the wood burner which was so kind although when we arrived it was lovely and warm anyway!! The lodge is super spacious and has 4 beautiful size rooms. The kids are in their element as they all have TV’s and great internet which is a must when you have kids with devices. Everything you need is here and if anyone reads any bad reviews. Ignore them !! Lodge was clean and hot tub huge. Haven’t even tried it yet but we are over the moon and cannot wait to spend the next few days here. Couldn’t recommend this enough.…
Family of 9 stayed in the Oystercatcher lodge, 23rd to 27th December - The lodge was beautiful and very spacious with staff on-site who couldn't be more helpful and friendly (Thank You, Paul!) The location is ideal for a quiet and relaxing stay, the hot tub had plenty of privacy and everyone from children to adults loved it.
Had a lovely weekend in Dovetail 28. Pet friendly, spacious lodge big enough for 2 couples, a toddler and a dog. Large hot tub with colourful lights. Can imagine it would be fabulous in the summertime with lovely views at the top of the lake and being able to make use of the veranda and outdoor space. This just means we will have to come back in June 😬
