Warm welcome at reception (which is in the pub)
Accom is separate building
Easy to find
Parking was a bit tricky as the pub was busy
Beds comfy and crispy
Functional
Bathroom fan was running all the time
Breakfast isn’t included, as they are stuck in the 90s and have an expensive itemised menu. Mm. Time to move with the times guys.
Room clean
Air con was effective
Desk chair comfy (8 hours of sitting & working)
Heavy doors keep it quiet
Altogether a nice stay

I booked a stay here for myself and my husband as his birthday treat... Also, because we both work with the NHS and needed a bit of R&R. We initially found the booking rate incredibly reasonable, especially for a full breakfast and nights stay for two (came to £77.90). I had called on Thursday afternoon to prepay for Friday night and spoke with a wonderful gent named James who arranged for this to happen. When hubby and I arrived on Friday afternoon we were met at reception by a lovely lady named Sadie who gave us our room keys, explained how everything worked (which was massively helpful in itself as we are both autistic) and explained by showing us room plan where we would be staying. We went to our room, which was very very clean, serviceable and definitely worth the money. We did have a minor issue with the sink plug getting stuck but Sadie came to fix that straight away. The bed was delightful, very soft and comfortable mattress, clean linen, and pillows very plump. Walls were a bit thin toward the morning as we heard everyone using the stairs and opening the front doors but we were well rested, so this really wasn't a problem. Breakfast portions were huge, we were greeted at our table by a lovely lady who explained how the drinks worked, she even got me a decaf tea and gluten free toast (i am coeliac and had not realised this option was available). We both had something continental and the main option, and told we could order more but after the continental options were eaten, we were struggling for room.
We've agreed that this is one of the best date nights/experiences we've ever had, in a 7 and a half year relationship, and will be delighted to return in the future.

Place offers a good room, bed was comfortable and room was clean and spacious. We booked a family room which was advertised as all on the ground floor, but we were allocated on the first floor which is a bit of a struggle because we have a pram with us. Check in was quick and easy. Across is pub managed by the same property offers great food and drink plus you get 20% off if you booked directly through them. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Cost cutting first - Customer second.
Pros
Pleasant staff
Easy parking
Modern facility
Quiet
Comfortable beds
Well placed for multiple main line shops
We stayed here for 3 nights – here are the facts of our experience so that you can make your own judgement...
Cons
On the first day we were given 2 tea bags 2 milks coffees and sugars in the room and no biscuits.
Two soap dispensers for all washing needs (Eco friendly).
No fridge.
5 hangers.
The Air Conditioning was a joke. We really would not like to have stayed there on a very hot day, it was completely ineffective, bordering on unbearable on a normal day..
There was no bottled water – you buy it at £3.30 per large bottle at the bar.
One bedside light was out of action, but judging by the other one it wouldn’t have made any difference even had it been put right – low wattage.
Apart from above, the light was poor it was hard to read anything.
No toilet brush – not good if you’re a couple.
Toilet door kept seriously sticking shut when you were in it.
Official policy for breakfast, as per the menu, is EITHER cooked breakfast OR cereal, toast etc, luckily both staff and customers ignored this. The menu does not mention marmalade, again, fortunately, there was some.
Everyone in the restaurant got totally black inedible toast and were moaning. When drawn to the attention of the staff they just said that was the way it was.
On the second day of the above the toaster billowed out smoke right across the restaurant and we had to call someone from the kitchen to sort it out. They didn’t rush because it was obviously a regular occurrence.
As a result I rang their Head Office Customer Services where you can leave a message (unmanned). I stated that as we were paying around £110 per night plus breakfast we would quite like to have some toast. The voice inbox stated that someone from customer services would get back to us within 24 hours. Guess what – they didn’t.
We have stayed in a Marston’s hotel before but this time was the last.

From first impressions we thought, oh this is nice, that is until you realise they are two separate buildings and you have to battle through people in the bar with your cases to reach the small reception desk when the Hotel part in in the other building, clearly in a poor position for those wanting to book into the Hotel. The room was basic, and I mean basic, no toiletries in the bathroom except wash gel on the wall. The bathroom was in dire need of a refurb, the grouting looked like it had been applied many times due to problems of some sort, it was very run down. The room it self definitely needs painting, dirty scuff marks on the walls and I can't even imagine how some got so high. The room smelled musty, that was the air conditioning.
The bed, I have to say was very comfortable, the most important part I suppose.
Breakfast was a disaster, the bacon looked like it had been boiled rather than fried or grilled, the beans were tasteless and watery.
Sadly there is little choice for Hotels in this area, which is where we needed to be, definitely not worth the price, which seems so high as they have no competition. If one of the bigger chains with the purple bedding opened here, this Hotel would suffer greatly, they need to up their game and present itself as a want to go to destination, rather than I can't find anything else destination.

Warm welcome and started the stay off really well.
Receptionist warm friendly and exactly the right person to greet you for a stay good impression.
Requested ground floor due to health issue and it wasn’t even discussed or even mentioned when we arrived was told we were on the first floor and there is no lift.
Room is very basic, tea and coffee is handed to you in a brown paper bag (Covid safety) key is the normal credit card type. Bathroom has hand soap however bring your own shower gel (I normally do on every stay) there is no small bottles some hotels have stopped this.
There is a hair dryer.
One hand towel and two bath towels.
Bathroom bin was full of rubbish and had not been cleaned with hair on the skirting boards of the bathroom. I placed the dustbin and reported it at reception who dealt with it straight away and apologised ( I will mention the hair tomorrow)
Returned after our day very tired and wanted to request two pillows and a spoon however there was no one available from the hours of 8pm until 10pm when the night porter should come on. So I would recommend making sure you check everything in your room before you go out for the day/evening as there is no help.
Settled in for the evening with no spoon or wooden throw away sticks and a TV which has sound issues and needs looking at or replaced.
Another night we have here fingers crossed the stay improves.
The hotel is ideally placed and is surrounded by three beaches, retail parks.

I am sad to say that the service and quality of food has taken a nose dive in this location.
We often go there for breakfast on a Saturday, and for the last four weeks, we have have had cause to complain.
First, we were served with half an adult portion, and half children's, with items missing.
Second week, the poached eggs looked like they had been whisked in the water, and items missing.
Third week, items cold, missing and a 12inch hair in the food.
This week, food cold and missing. When the plate was returned, food was still cold and missing.
This is on top of the regular occurrences of tongs missing, dirty crockery and cutlery, and a general lack of empathy and enthusiasm.
This is the last time we will attend there.
I understand that we are human, and will make mistakes, but I have never seen this many.
Maybe you should consider putting it on the menu.

Although a tad pricier than most budget hotels, we had a basic well-designed room with a large comfy bed. Got a very quiet room as requested and friendy efficient staff. Free parking always a bonus and a restaurant opposite where we had a very inventive veggie meal in very pleasnt surroundings.Breakfast was buffet as we ordered continental as we needed to be out early. Have to say the light warmed croissants were the best i have ever tasted. Just the perfect kind of hotel for us.
One little quibble was the booking website was a little confusing and the advanced check in form was a bit much. We left it and just turned up and the check-in in person couldnt have been simpler. I will always look out for Marstons across the country as they are a chain.

On initial booking I had booked one room as a room suitable for a disabled person to use also twin beds , and a normal double room which was OK.
On arrival after a 9 hour journey I was offered two double rooms no twin beds and no disabled facilities. I was extremely tired and could not belive what the person On reception was saying.
No comprise was offered only a twin bed room upstairs, I am extremely disabled and was not prepared to negotiate the stairs as no lift was present.
I accepted the two rooms offered but was not impressed with the person on reception. As we have stayed there on 3 other occasions I would have expected some sort of assistance.

I wanted to write a review just to say how comfy the bed was, and that's really important to me being disabled, but rare to find in a reasonably priced accommodation. I was happy with the room for the price. My mum would have liked more space on the bedside tables, some drawers and a coat hook. We had a meal in the restaurant on the first night. It was lovely quality food, a good portion and good service. I would definitely stay again if I was going to that area in Kent, I really liked the place and is was very manageable for me being disabled even in a non accessible room (because I like a bath) although I'm not in a wheelchair.

Check in time is between 14.00 - 23.00 hrs
There is a bus service from Westwood Cross just across the road.there are several private hire firms and it's a good straight road approximately two and a half mile s.
Hello,
Walking to Margate is possible however, the route is via busy main roads and would take an estimated 40mins. We are located at Westwood Cross shopping centre and right on the main LOOP bus route. Bus travel is inexpensive (£2.60 for a return or £4 for a dayrider), buses go every 10-15mins and it's a 15minute ride to Margate (traffic depending)
we have bike racks at the front of the building, but if you wish to you are more then welcome to take your bikes in to your rooms. let us know if you would prefer ground floor rooms if this is the case as we do not have a lift.
Kind regards
Sami
