Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First time at this site. Should have came here years ago. Site was very clean, pitches decent size and location was excellent for anyone wishing to do water sports in Lough Neagh which was a couple of minutes away. This site was also ideal to use as a base to go to Lisburn, Belfast and Ballymena and was close to a lot of good places to eat. There is a large play park at entrance for young children.

Stayed here for a weekend, family of 5. Decent pitch, fully serviced. Best part was location. Great views and facilities at the Lough Shore. Kids enjoyed the information centre at the Gateway building and playing along the wee shore. Brilliant playground for them too, but note it's outside the caravan park gates for needed to be fully supervised at all times. Nice walk into Antrim Castle Gardens where there is plenty to see and do. Few food trucks/street food, Made In Antrim dirty fries were delish. All in all a great stay!

We went to six mile water for the first time, we stayed for two nights and were highly impressed. Very spacious campsite and very well kept. Facilities all spotless. Great amenities within walking distance.
There was a water disruption this weekend and the groundsman was great at keeping us updated with what was going on. The toilet blocks had to be closed and water was turned off but they supplied portaloos and each caravan was given a case of water. They reacted very well to a situation that was beyond their control.
We will definitely be back!

Was really disappointed with the campsite.
This site isn’t secure from the public as anyone can walk round/ under the barriers and in to the site. We didn’t see any staff members at the site at all and we stayed for 7 days.
We were tent camping and although well sheltered from wind, the grass area was not maintained and we were dodging what looked like either human/dog poos along the side of the pitch and burnt out camp fires.
The loughshore is such a beautiful place and it’s a real shame the facilities don’t match this. We are now camping at Jordanstown Loughshore Campsite which is completely safe and secure from anyone other than campers which is perfect when you’re camping with children.
In terms of convenience to Antrim, this campsite is really close to everywhere. 20 mins to Belfast, 1 hour to the coast and close to Junction 1 and Antrim Town Centre.
There are plenty of lovely walks around the lough.
I would avoid camping in tents at this site especially if you have children.
Sadly will not be back.

I have never left a review on tripadvisor before but feel compelled to as a warning to other families who may be thinking of staying there. My family and I stayed there on the weekend of 9th to 11th August. We had been having a lovely weekend as we have had many times before at six mile water when on the Sunday evening a group of about six traveller families and their caravans were admitted to the site, despite only one of them having prebooked! They proceeded to arrive and unpack their various children and dogs etc. We spoke to the site manager who informed us that there was nothing he could do about it and they would be staying for five more nights, so at this point we decided to pack up and leave despite having paid to stay another night. We felt so uncomfortable with the whole situation. I am appalled that the council feel it is appropriate to allow travellers to stay on this site where families are trying to enjoy their holiday. No doubt they will churn out their standard reply to a negative review but won't actually do anything about this situation! Be warned, avoid this site if you don't want to be holidaying with travellers!

Thank you for your feedback and I am genuinely sorry that the behaviour of other guests marred your stay at the Sixmilewater Caravan Park. I would like to take the opportunity to discuss your disappointment personally with you and I can be contacted at info@antrim.gov.uk Antrim Borough Council is legally bound, through Equality legislation, to accept and process bookings into the Caravan Park in a way which does not discriminate. Council takes all bookings in good faith and customers sign up to our caravan park’s terms and conditions at time of booking. Council will not tolerate any behaviour that breaches the rules and regulation of the caravan park and will take measures required to ensure that the high standards of behaviour are maintained on site. On this occasion we were not aware of any breach of our terms and conditions. Please be assured that we continually monitor our booking procedures to try and ensure a pleasurable stay for campers and caravanners who use the park.

My wife and I have been coming occasionally over the past 10 years to the Six Mile water caravan park on the shores of Lough Neagh, We had our weekend turned upside down when we arrived on Friday 4th April, to discover a van belonging to travelers occupying our touring pitch, I had to go and look around to get the lady owner to remove it, so I could get my motorhome parked, the same thing happened on Saturday when we came back from shopping. As other contributors have said they were in complete contravention of site rules as follows: entrance and exit gates were propped open after hours, no attempt was made to collect waste water in fact I saw basins of what appeared to be waste water being thrown on the grass, vehicles were being driven against the flow of traffic having no regard for small kids playing. nearby, Loud music coming from vehicles late into the night, laundry scattered across the perimeter fence. I have no doubt that any of the above contraventions would have resulted in me being asked to leave the site. I would ask Antrim Council where have your site rules gone? or are there separate rules for "travelers" You have let down your loyal staff who have carried out their duties excellently over the years, you have also let down all the families who come to your park, for what would appear to be a short term financial gain

Just spent the bank holiday weekend here as usual it was fully booked but very peaceful. Great location for kids and us old folk. Great for walks and close to Antrim town centre within walking distance. The travellers have moved on and no evidence left of their visit. We will definitely will be back.

After a busy few weeks, we were looking forwarding to getting a quick weekend break not too far from home. We didn't visit six mile water last year as the season before we stayed and there were at least 10 traveller caravans outside the site trying to get in and parked in the car park, leaving a huge amount of mess and they were able to access site walking through it.....my possessions didn't seem safe when we went out and I was put off by it. My friends suggested trying it again this season. On arrival I was greeted by the friendly staff but was not told that there where now at least 13 traveller caravans in the site, and actually right beside us.....we all felt uneasy and these are my reasons why......firstly the amount of traffics this caused in a small site, driving 300 metres around the one way system the wrong way to go to laundry or toilets, this was constant, especially in the evening time, horns were tooting ,music blurring from cars. The gates where also left open when they entered in or out of site, again a security issue for us. The rubbish that was left in the grounds was disgusting, the toilets had all the toilet roll taken out and the mess left behind in these facilities where disgusting. After speaking with the staff on several occasions, as we couldn't relax with the on goings, they informed me that Antrim council will not discriminate against travellers. ThisI totally understand but. If it was my family that drove around the one way system the wrong way repeatedly, left the gates open, left rubbish lying around the site, parked wherever I felt I could, treated the facilities in an disgusting manner would I be asked to leave? I believe so, looks like rules were made to be token and security should have been on site 24/7, the lovely gentleman attendant stayed a little bit later on Saturday evening but really Antrim council you should be ashamed to call this a 5 star park when all you have done is push tourists away. I speak for many visitors this weekend who will not be returning to the site for this reason.
