We’ve been travelling for over six months and this is the best hotel we have stayed at so far. We had lunch in the bar and grill with a group of cousins, the servers were very patient with a large group - we were distracted with introductions while ordering and they returned to check they had our order correct. Meals were lovely, we had the seafood chowder, battered haddock (it was huge), chips, champ and it was all delicious. We enjoyed lunch so much we stayed in for dinner - the scampi was magnificent and the haddock was ordered again! We stayed the night and were blown away with the newly renovated rooms - so comfortable, spotlessly clean and huge. Tea, coffee and biscuits were very much appreciated. The bed is huge (something we’ve not encountered very often in our travels), great pillows and we had a brilliant sleep. It may be minor, in the morning I really appreciated the hairdryer being close to a mirror! We’re already planning to return before we head home. Great staff, from Reception to the bar and restaurant staff - we felt very welcome. Breakfast was a stand out for the fact we were asked if we wanted toast and it was made to order - fresh and warm. We are really impressed.

As a family we had the opportunity of just staying 1 night in the hotel. From check in to check out everything went smoothly, they also allowed us an early check in as we were attending a family wedding near by. The rooms newly refurbished to a very high standard, had a light lunch in the bar which was very tasty, a very good selection for breakfast the next morning. Reception staff very helpful will be definitely back some time and recommend the hotel to other people. We could not find a fault anywhere.

The location is ok.
The staff didn’t seem very welcoming. It being my first time at the place, I never received enough information or guidance apart from being given the card at check in and being told my room was on the first floor. I felt lost
The remaining things I was supposed to figure out by myself.
The restaurant, no guidance there too. There’s a note that says wait to be given a table/seat. But whenever I went there nobody showed me where to seat . On Saturday my partner and i went in, some lady only asked if we were having tea or coffee, never told us where to sit, we chose a table by ourselves and the same person who never showed us where to sit came to tell us we can’t sit at that table but should find another one. Still she wouldn’t tell us which one but it was for use to figure out which table is allowed and which one isn’t.
The food isn’t something I liked. The fried eggs were all lying in oil, sausages not lacked if pork or beef. I don’t it pork, I don’t know why they were so I just avoided them.

pillows were too hard and the mattress wasn’t comfortable. I spent 3 nights there and I developed fatigue first night until my last day. I couldn’t sleep on the pillows because they are too had and uncomfortable. I had no iron in my room and when I went to ask for one the receptionist insisted that it was in the room. I had to argue that I checked everywhere and didn’t see it and that was only when she said she’d ask someone to find me one.

There were also kids that kept running down the corridor on the floor making it had to have a nap during the day. I can talk about a lot of things but let me just say I wouldn’t stay at this place again. The services I received didn’t amount to the money I paid.
Very substandard.

Stayed I the Dunsilly for a night in July 23, I think it was room 218 which we were allocated, unfortunately our experience was not good, as soon as we got into the elevator we knew things were very old, then we found the room to be a blast from the past, it was like a step back to the 80's the room had old pine wood units with brass light fittings, the mattress was an old sprung type mattress which I git very little sleep on, the bed sheets felt like they were made of some sort of hard industrial polyester material, the sink in the bathroom had a crack that ran the full width of it, the chrome on the taps was completely worn off & they are not mixer taps so it's either hot water or cold, the shower over the bath was ancient, it was the worst shower I have ever had, half of the water was leaking from the shower head, there waa a discoloured shower mat thing with looked very very old indeed, the TV on the wall was small & old, the remove was cheap & basic, it did not work very well, overall it was a very old fashioned room which we were glad to get out of.
The next morning we decided to try the breakfast which we were charged an additional £12 each for, I was poor, the cooked breakfast was obviously cooked I one batch early & was left to sit, the bacon was fatty & greasy, the sausage was dried out, the soda was rock hard & the beans were cold.
The thing I don't understand is that the hotel was not busy that night & it seems to have some slightly more modern rooms yet we were put in an old room, why do this ? This place needs a lot of money spending on it, all I can say is beware of this place if you want a good night's sleep go elsewhere.

We (friends and I) went to Dunsilly for a Christmas lunch menu. 4 courses for £30.

My starter of salmon terrine, described as served on a bed of mixed leaves with a lemon & dill crème fraiche, was not as described. My plate had two small slices of salmon terrine, served on a bed of raw onion and cucumber. I expected some toast - as is usual with terrine or pate, but none was offered. Disappointing starter.

My main course of roast turkey and ham was even more disappointing!
I looked at the piled up plate that was put in front of me and I realised immediately that I had made a bad choice. The top of the pile was an almost circular slice of ‘turkey’. It was not a slice carved from a turkey breast. It was a slice of re-formed turkey, tasteless and chewy. Underneath the ‘turkey’ was a large lump of stodgy stuffing, and underneath that was a slice of rubbery ‘re-formed ham’.
I ate some of my main course, as I didn’t want to make a fuss in front of my friends.

I envied their daube of beef - beautifully braised and cooked to perfection, and the fillet of salmon which looked amazing.

In summary, there’s a lot of turkey dinners in and around Antrim town, and there’s bound to be better than this.

Lovely food (the Indian) from the restaurant and staff were friendly.
The bedroom would need to be cleaned better, there was quite a lot of dust in room- especially on top of tv, sills above tv and above the bed.
The cooked breakfast wasn’t the warmest however it was tasty.

We love staying at this lovely friendly hotel. From arriving in reception to the restaurant staff right through to the cleaning staff everyone is so friendly and makes you feel welcome. We have stayed here numerous times over the past 6 years while visiting family and have always had good service and a nice comfortable room. The breakfast is so good with plenty of choice. We do not really eat in the restaurant as visiting family so eat with them. The staff cannot do enough for you I requested a fan in the room as I get hot overnight and reception got one for me straight away. The rooms are very comfortable and the bed is so comfy, plenty of tea and coffee provided if you run short just ask reception and they get some for you straight away. Only thing I could say is rooms are a bit tired and could do with a quick spruce up but does not take anything away from your stay. The hotel is lovely and clean and we have stayed at a couple of other hotels in the area in the past but always go back to the dunsilly.

On Wednesday Night 15 June 2022 six family members dined at Dunsilly. I had looked at menu on Line previous to visit and decided I would order Open Prawn which is one of my favourites but it wasn’t to be. When I ordered I was informed NO PRAWNS so I ordered second choice which was 100%. Bit disappointed 1st choice not available. Should have been told this from outset. My wife had looked forward to Trout but was disappointed in portion as was my Son in Law who ordered same dish, bit overpriced for portions received. Staff were friendly courteous and attentive and food was served promptly.
