Easy check in and check out.
The staff didn’t seem very welcoming. It being my first time at the place, I never received enough information or guidance apart from being given the card at check in and being told my room was on the first floor. I felt lost
The remaining things I was supposed to figure out by myself.
The restaurant, no guidance there too. There’s a note that says wait to be given a table/seat. But whenever I went there nobody showed me where to seat . On Saturday my partner and i went in, some lady only asked if we were having tea or coffee, never told us where to sit, we chose a table by ourselves and the same person who never showed us where to sit came to tell us we can’t sit at that table but should find another one. Still she wouldn’t tell us which one but it was for use to figure out which table is allowed and which one isn’t.
The food isn’t something I liked. The fried eggs were all lying in oil, sausages not lacked if pork or beef. I don’t it pork, I don’t know why they were so I just avoided them.
pillows were too hard and the mattress wasn’t comfortable. I spent 3 nights there and I developed fatigue first night until my last day. I couldn’t sleep on the pillows because they are too had and uncomfortable. I had no iron in my room and when I went to ask for one the receptionist insisted that it was in the room. I had to argue that I checked everywhere and didn’t see it and that was only when she said she’d ask someone to find me one.
There were also kids that kept running down the corridor on the floor making it had to have a nap during the day. I can talk about a lot of things but let me just say I wouldn’t stay at this place again. The services I received didn’t amount to the money I paid.
Very substandard.
The next morning we decided to try the breakfast which we were charged an additional £12 each for, I was poor, the cooked breakfast was obviously cooked I one batch early & was left to sit, the bacon was fatty & greasy, the sausage was dried out, the soda was rock hard & the beans were cold.
The thing I don't understand is that the hotel was not busy that night & it seems to have some slightly more modern rooms yet we were put in an old room, why do this ? This place needs a lot of money spending on it, all I can say is beware of this place if you want a good night's sleep go elsewhere.
My starter of salmon terrine, described as served on a bed of mixed leaves with a lemon & dill crème fraiche, was not as described. My plate had two small slices of salmon terrine, served on a bed of raw onion and cucumber. I expected some toast - as is usual with terrine or pate, but none was offered. Disappointing starter.
My main course of roast turkey and ham was even more disappointing!
I looked at the piled up plate that was put in front of me and I realised immediately that I had made a bad choice. The top of the pile was an almost circular slice of ‘turkey’. It was not a slice carved from a turkey breast. It was a slice of re-formed turkey, tasteless and chewy. Underneath the ‘turkey’ was a large lump of stodgy stuffing, and underneath that was a slice of rubbery ‘re-formed ham’.
I ate some of my main course, as I didn’t want to make a fuss in front of my friends.
I envied their daube of beef - beautifully braised and cooked to perfection, and the fillet of salmon which looked amazing.
In summary, there’s a lot of turkey dinners in and around Antrim town, and there’s bound to be better than this.
The bedroom would need to be cleaned better, there was quite a lot of dust in room- especially on top of tv, sills above tv and above the bed.
The cooked breakfast wasn’t the warmest however it was tasty.
