Stayed for 2 wonderful nights. Ewan is an amazing host, very friendly and nothing is a bother. Room was so lovely and very clean and comfortable, especially during the covid-19 situation. There are hand sanitisers throughout the guest house at every door entrance also.
I was particularly pleased with the guest kitchen which was fully functional, with everything you needed and was great to have a fridge.
Breakfast was outstanding, cereal, yogurts to the most amazing cooked breakfast and unlimited toast.
Ewan recommended places to eat for us and we were not disappointed with his choices.
I could not fault the guest house and wouldnt hesitate to stay again.
The surroundings are so peaceful which resulted in the best 2 nights sleep in a very large comfy bed.
Thanks again for your hospitality Ewan, you have an amazing guest house.

Stayed here in July for four nights. The hotel is situated outside of town and set in a tranquil setting overlooking fields and hills.
The room and en suite bathroom were very modern and lovely with plenty of space. Our room had TV, hairdryer, coffee and tea facilities, kettle, biscuits and a bottle of water. Fans were also kept in the cupboard. It was quite warm during our stay so Ewan supplied us with an extra fan even though we didn't ask for it which we thought was very nice of them. Everything is spotless and well cared for.
Cooked breakfasts were fab, ordered the day before to our requirements. There was also yogurts, cereals, juices and fruit layed out to accompany the cooked breakfast and toast. A hot pot of coffee or tea is also brought to the table when your seated. We didn't need lunch we were that full!! 😊
The entertainment is laid on by Xander the alsatian pup most mornings. If he's not running off with his bag of chews closely followed by Ewan, it's the clock he's managed to get 😂. Such a cutie.
There is a well equipt kitchen with fridge/freezer, laundry facilities, microwave, crockery and cutlery for guests to use which is a great asset after a long day out and about. Guests are also able to use the breakfast room to eat take away meals etc and there's a lounge that you can watch TV too.
All in all a fab stay. It will be hard to beat a host as good as Ewan. Nothing is too much trouble for him. He's helpful, chatty and makes you feel at home. I forgot to bring home a hoody and he posted it without hesitation. We will definitely be revisiting Southpark *****

My partner and I stayed at Southpark Guest House for 2 nights in early April this year and would happily return. Ewan, the host, was very welcoming and remained attentive throughout the duration of our stay and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was made from the highest quality ingredients and was enjoyed whilst taking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside. In our room, we were treated to a selection of hot drinks, biscuits and flavoured water and in the bathroom, cotton buds and talcum powder. We had two very restful night's sleep in a well-appointed room and even had the use of the communal kitchen. Next time we will stay for longer. Highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of staying at Southpark for four weeks. The accommodation was clean, tidy, very comfortable and well appointed. There was a guest kitchen to allow prep of food for your time away. Breakfast was brilliant with everything you would ever need to set you up for what you have planned during the day. My room was spacious with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Euan, the host goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you require, nothing was too much.
If you are in the Dumfries area and need a place to establish a base for your stay this is it. You won’t go far wrong.
Thanks once again Euan.
Mike

The property is located just outside the town centre which was lovely as it was so peaceful. Ewan, the owner was fantastic and very helpful.

Our room (room 3) had just been done up and we were the first people to use the room apart from Ewan’s family. It was amazing! The room was so spacious with an enormous bed and a new en-suite with a bath and rainfall/power shower.

The resident’s kitchen area was a great idea for a B&B as you could top up your milk pots and sugar etc that you need for your room. You could also make yourself something to eat if you didn’t fancy going out or having a takeaway.

The breakfast choice was brilliant and it was absolutely delicious.

We absolutely loved this property and would highly recommend it and we will definitely be back.

Thanks again Ewan & Donna.

Had a three night break at Southpark House being looked after by a perfect host Ewan.
The house is located on the outskirts of town where it is quiet and away from traffic. There is good car parking available whiich to me is an important asset when selecting where to stay.
There are extensive views of countryside especially from our room, room 3.
The room was very well appointed with tv and tea and coffee makings, flavoured water and biscuits. The bathroom was goid with and excellent overbath shower.
Breakfast requirements were left in reception the night before. You can change breakfast requirements daily if you wish or Ewan will just produce your first request each day. Always freshly cooked and piping hot. Cereals, fruit, and yogurts are also provided.
The premises are spotlessly clean and you are made to feel welcome.
This was our third visit and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you Ewan.

I am a Radiography student and have many placements throughout the academic year lasting 20-26 days each time. I chose Southpark because of the facilities and location to the hospital. The single room was perfect for me with every thing you could need. The kitchen was handy with a washing machine and tumble dryer great for washing my uniforms after a shift. Ewan was a good host and nothing was too much trouble. The room was warm during the winter month I was there and Ewan even cleared my car of snow! The views from the room lovely too. Good for key workers and holiday guests with good facilities. Quiet location too.

I would like to say a huge thankyou to Ewan for his hospitality. We had the best weekend. The guest house has absolutely everything that you would need even the little touches in the room such as chocolates, flavoured water, talc powder, ear buds and little things in the bathroom. The rooms are modern and really clean and fresh. The guest house felt so warm and homely as soon as we arrived from the fire on on in the lounge to the amazing countryside views. Ewan could not of done anymore for us and was so friendly and lovely. The lounge is joint on to a conservatory where you sit for breakfast and the breakfast was 10 out of 10 with beautiful views and the tv on quietly. Honestly this place is a 10/10.

Thankyou so much. See you again soon!

Natalie and James :)

The room was exceptionally clean with a very large comfortable bed. It was very quiet and peaceful with fields at the rear of the property. The bathroom was fairly large with a bath and a powerful power shower. The hot water was always hot.
The room had a flat screen TV, Wi-Fi and tea/coffee making facilities. A guest kitchen was also available if you needed it. There was also more milk and tea/coffee sachets if needed.
The breakfast was superb with the sausage being especially tasty.
The host Ewan was pleasant and helpful throughout our visit.

There was little that we could fault.
The rooms are on the first floor and some guests may find the stairs difficult to climb.
The Wi-Fi occasionally cut out but resumed again fairly soon.

We decided on a 3 days break in the borders and on spec, booked this Guest House..
Made a great choice, Ewan the owner, was an ideal host providing all to meet our needs - always asking if all was OK. Due to the 50% offer in place we tried to book in town for an evening meal but ALL were fully booked, he asked if we had been successful in our endeavor but reported no :-(
He then offered to pick up a meal and we eventually ordered Fish and chips which we could eat in his conservatory !
Post our enjoyable meal we went to pay him but he said "My treat" ..cant get better than that....
I would recommend this establishment at any time, you will enjoy your stay. Well worth the 5 star rating
