Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are just home from a 2 night stay. What a beautifully set hotel. The staff are just so nice. So welcomming every single one them were just so lovley. They work unbelievably hard. The precautions that they have set out for the current covid situtaion are excellelent socail distancing is well held up they are doing a brilliant job to keep everyone safe.
This place is the best location for the Falls of Shin litterly 5 mins walk to it. They are a must utterly beautiful.
The hotel is immaculate. I have no idea how they work as hard as they do and can still be so welcomming and take a geniune intrest in there customers.
The food was amazing - resonably priced as well. I cant wait to book again I woud highly recommend this hotel it will not dissapoint you. Also the landscapre that it was set in is just breathetaking.

Didn’t stay at this hotel, but saw several people visit who were.
However we ate at the hotel many times. Fraser and Heather and the rest of the staff couldn’t be more helpful, always welcomed you with a smile and even though we hadn’t booked in to eat they always fitted us in.
Lasagna and garlic bread and the macaroni cheese was delicious as was the scampi and chips, very reasonably priced too. So if your ever in Rosehall be sure to visit.

Just got back after a 2 night stay at this hotel ! And oh my it was AMZING ! The staff were so lovely and friendly, rooms are beautiful and fully equipped. It was my partners birthday and the chef made him a beautiful birthday cake with some candles 🥰 and oh my god the food the food was absolutely amazing! Hands off to the chef I really can’t describe how beautiful all the food we had was, breakfast and dinner it was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant is open to anyone you do not have to be staying at the hotel to eat there so if anyone is ever passing this area I definitely recommend you paying a visit to eat there.

Thanks again everyone for a fantastic stay we absolutely loved it and we will definitely be back !!!

A marvellous little hotel situated close to the River Cassley and the Kyle of Sutherland.
We have stayed in this Hotel on a number of occasions but it just gets better and better.
Fraser brings to the hotel a level of hospitality and friendliness that is unsurpassed. From checkin to checkout nothing is too much trouble and he strives to anticipate your every wish. The food is exquisite and plentiful, the rooms comfortable and relaxing.
What more could you want!

We had been travelling around Scotland in our campervan and decided we needed a night in a warm cosy bar with good Scottish fair. The Achness Hotel provided the goods. We were greeted by Fraser on arrival who was very accommodating and got us booked in for dinner. His ‘right hand women’ Heather served us in the bar who was equally brilliant. We had a great dinner cooked by Fraser and then sat back in the bar and enjoyed a few whiskies with the man himself. Staying overnight in the car park we then had a great breakfast in the hotel the following morning with a egg cooking demonstration in the kitchen from Fraser! All in all, a hidden gem of a hotel with brilliant staff. Donald, the Ghillie on the Cassley, also looked after us the next day and we even managed to catch a salmon! We will be back.

Where do I start . We on arrival was greeted at reception by the lovely Heather. She showed me to my room and was very professional and bubbly. Rooms are great comfy beds and pillows great sleeping environment to be in after a hard graft. Meal times well can't praise the food enough and again was served up by the lovely Heather. Portion size was mega and food first class one of the best steak pies I have ever had . Nice wee chat during and after Heather was very informative of the local area and very pleasant to chat with. Breakfast I can only say if you go for the full monty don't plan any heavy work loads as I made that mistake all be it 3 mornings in a row lol. Over experience fantastic and Heather wore many caps and smashed every aspect of the job. Credit to the owners . And not to forget Donald great guy loved the wee chats . Big Rab

Wonderful setting in beautiful unspoilt surroundings for a birthday lunch for my mum, staff could not be any more helpful or friendly, big shout out to Heather and Mhorag for decorating the gazebo and for their excellent service and overall kindness. The chef/ manager couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Food was plentiful and delicious. Mum had a delightful birthday lunch. We will definitely be back, many many thanks

Arrived on the HT550 to a very warm welcome for early dinner the staff are amazing and very welcoming to hungry cyclists! They even have an option to make you lunch for the next day. Would highly recommend dinner or staying if on a cycle tour. We had to sadly leave the comfort and push onto the Northen loop.

We were driving to Dornoch and with a car of hungry kids stumbled upon the Achness Hotel. Popped on and the host said they were just stopping serving but would chat to the chef and see if they could help. Thankfully they agreed, it was excellent.

The food was old school comfort food, but done to an exceptional standard. It hit the spot with 4 plates left almost empty.....the only barrier to an empty plate is the generous portions.

We honestly loved the bar, the food and the service it was all first class......even the dog had a wee treat. Will definitely be back next time we are in tb area.

You are so right! Done in error. I have stayed at this hotel too on the same riding holiday and enjoyed it. Had great food at this hotel and fun in the bar. I will have to work out how to delete it. Apologies and thanks.
