What an amazing hotel - couldn’t fault it. Beautiful setting, stunning room, delicious local food - breakfasts even included local haggis if you wanted! and Glen and his wife were so kind and helpful giving us ideas and advice for what to do locally. Don’t miss this gem!
Last night Julie & I stayed in the best ever B&B, Spean Lodge - run by the amazing Glen & Suzanne Wilson. We were picked up from the train station and treated like Royalty throughout out stay. In everyday this humble couple went above and beyond
... and that is because Great Glen resides at Spean Lodge! We had an outstanding time at Spean Lodge. Glen and Suzanne are fantastic hosts. Glen took the time to make us feel very welcome. He took care of all of our needs, told us about the history of the place, and provided helpful recommendations for our onward journey. The house is beautiful and we loved the grand guest lounge. Breakfast was delicious as was our packed lunch, complete with homemade cake. Unforgettable stay!
We had a fabulous stay. Breakfasts of champions, lovely room, owners so nice and helpful. And the house is so evocative and furnished brilliantly. It is possible to come here without a car. The local bus services are excellent, also the train. There's probably a week's worth of entertainment to be had without needing a car. And all the facilities you need in the village. And we came in February, when the season was hardly up and running. So book the sleeper train and go!
Have just travelled back down to Yorkshire from spending an amazing 3 nights at Spean Lodge. The accommodation (B &B), breakfasts and hospitality were faultless. Glen and Suzy, the Proprietors, are welcoming and cannot do enough for you. They are so knowledgeable about the area and provide an insight into the history of the Highlands. We have every intention of returning.
Lovely location and beautiful rooms. But the best part of our stay was the fantastic hospitality that Glen gave us. Nothing was too much trouble for him, from picking us up on the off chance from the station, recommending a fantastic walk and places to visit in our next stop. Would love to go back again for a longer stay.
What a find! A fabulous large house full of all sorts of lovely antiques and interesting items. We received a very nice and thoughtful email before our stay with details of local restaurant/eateries with contact details etc. for booking in advance. Glen couldn't have been nicer, greeting us warmly as we arrived on a 'dreich' evening. Our twin room was comfortable and quiet with a superb ensuite bathroom and everything was absolutely spotlessly clean. The complimentary tray had biscuits, hot chocolate, tea etc and delicious Columbian coffee, the nicest cup of coffee I have ever drunk in a hotel room! Flannels in the bathroom meant I didn't have to travel back with wet ones in my bag. We met Suzanne in the morning who also greeted us warmly and our breakfast was absolutely delicious, we both had a bowl of fresh fruit, Greek yoghurt on mine, full Scottish breakfast for my husband which he said was perfect, and exactly the right amount, generous but not excessive. My yummy porridge followed by perfectly poached egg on toast were superb and all in their fabulous dining room with views of their lovely garden. A perfect start to the day which left us ready for the 10 hour drive without feeling over full, just right! We will certainly stay again and highly recommend you check out this little treasure of a place next time you are in the area! Tips for other travellers: Get there early to give you time to look around the house and use the drawing room, lots to see and read there, great place to relax.…
Earlier this month we decided to go away for the night and we happened to stumble on this little cracker. The hosts and are absolute delight and are probabaly the most welcoming hosts we have met. The breakfast was superb and the rooms and lounge that we had at our disposal were 2nd to none. A credit to the Scottish hospitality trade. Will definitely be back. 9.5/10
Spean Lodge is quite simply one of the best places we have had the pleasure of staying in. From the moment we walked in through its doors we knew we had come to stay in a very special place. Our bedroom was beautifully laid out and spotlessly clean, the breakfasts were delicious (thank you Sue) and the grounds delightful. However, what really made this a stand out stay for us was our host Glen. He was so attentive, knowledgeable and always prepared to the extra mile for us. He is someone we will always remember with great fondness. We stayed in a number of places during our Scotland holiday, but nowhere came close to the Spean Lodge. Book here and you will not be disappointed, an amazing place to stay.
What a beautiful place to stay. Glen and Suzanne keep a wonderful home and make you feel so welcome. Glen could not be more helpful in anything you want to do in the area. The rooms are excellently kept and extremely clean and tidy. We are already planning our next trip.
