Great place, simple, cool and efficient. The rooms have the essential confort, the crew is perfect: Bayo is always ready to satisfy your requests, Eddy could arrange anything you need...don't look further, Coco Beach will give you the best experience.
We were there for Christmas and we adore everything.
Food is purely delicious, the best we found

A delightful place right on the beach. You step out of your room and you're in the sand.
Romantic, zen, simple, just what I needed after 10 days of safari in Tanzania. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a little deck you can sit on and enjoy the sunset or sunrise

I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN AND I HOPE NO ONE WILL EXPERIENCE THE DISGUSTING USE OF LANGUAGE AND TREATMENT WE RECEIVED, IT WAS AN UTTER DISGRACE, I WAS SHOCKED!!!!

I went to Jambiani for holiday and I am very very glad to say that I did not stay here at Coco beach but rather the much more pleasant and friendly Jambiani White Sands Resort located about 500m from Coco beach. We were on a half board basis and so we would go out for dinner or lunch depending. So on one of our first nights we went to Coco Beach for dinner. We arrived at about 9 for dinner and the lady in charge either a manager or owner. We sat down to eat and she approached and asked us to in future to come a bit earlier, she was a bit rude about it and I thought 9 was not too late as I am on holiday but myself and my girlfriend didnt take much note and so enjoyed a decent meal and a VERY EXPENSIVE GLASS OF POOR WINE.

We then decided to go back there for a new years eve to have dinner and then move on to a more exciting time. We arrived this time earlier as she had requested, no one was outside to help us and so there being a few open tables I pointed to a spot and told my girlfriend to take a seat while I go find the manager or someone i could ask if we could join for dinner. I walked inside and due to her last attitude I spoke very politely and asked her so kindly if she had space for us for dinner, she looked at me and with a raised voice and snotty attitude and said " NO NO NO cant you see we do not have space!!!" and once again still being polite I said but there a still lots of open table out side as she only had 1 large table of about 8 and 2 or 3 other more table of couples....she then replied with "can you not see how small our kitchen is we cannot cope with you for dinner", a bit shocked at her remarks I said thank you walked back to the table to collect my girl friend, she followed us and I told my girlfriend that they did not have space for us....she was also a bit confused by all the open table available, The lady then saw we had a bottle of wine with us and once again with a rude tone she asked if this was my bottle of wine, I said yes and she then shouted at us and said how can we bring our own bottle of wine. I said its new year and i didnt mind paying a corkage fee, she then told us "GET OUT GET OUT, how can you bring your own wine you must learn how to behave", we very gladly walked out and mentioned how rude she was. Now where I am from in South Africa you can take your own bottle of wine to the most exquisite and you will just need to pay a corkage fee and I have been to many restaurants in Europe and South America who do the same.

My issue was not about the wine but rather how she spoke to us in the first place before she even knew we had our own bottle of wine, I mean surely she could have so kindly said to us "Im really sorry but our kitchen is rather small and we will not be able to accommodate you tonight" or perhaps "Our kitchen is really small and could perhaps accommodate you but your food may take a long time and if you dont mind waiting then you are welcome to stay. and perhaps when she saw the bottle of wine she could have so politely said "please in future you are not allowed to bring your own bottle of wine" (which I might add was a wine I brought from SA because I knew no place would have that wine and which I was very willing to not drink if anyone requested so). Every other place in Zanzibar I went to you were able to bring along your own drinks(not that I did), even at the Langi Langi Hotel in Nungwi(a very fancy hotel) it says on the menu you are welcome to bring your own drinks.

Everything worked out for the best as we made our way further down the beach and stopped at many lovely places who if didnt have place for us so kindly told us that they couldnt accommodate us and who even still tried to make a plan and we found a lovely hotel with the most friendly manager who let us have our bottle of wine and didnt matter what time we arrived for dinner, he was even so kind as to organize us a secluded dinner with prawns larger than the lobster from coco beach and I payed less for 2 servings of prawns( 3 large prawns at nearly 20cm each) drinks and desert than I payed for 1 lobster that we shared and 2 glasses of wine at Coco beach.

Take a walk along the beach there are so many places with really good service nice people good food and where you can have a nice dinner with your own choice of wine looking over the ocean. I was disgusted by this womens attitude to her customers and cannot believe someone like that is in the hotel and catering business and many people who had also been there agreed about her attitude.

I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN AND I HOPE NO ONE WILL EXPERIENCE THE DISGUSTING USE OF LANGUAGE AND TREATMENT WE RECEIVED IT WAS AN UTTER DISGRACE, I WAS SHOCKED!!!!

We went there to eat for New Year's eve and had a wonderful dinner and the Belgian manager treated us very kindly. She saved our night.

We then went back on 2 January with two friends ( we were 4 in total) and she completely changed attitude! Firstly she hurried us to get our orders to the waiter, and then she came out at 930 telling us to hurry up and leave because it was past 'bedtime' for the hotel guests. We wanted to order dessert and the waiter brought us the menu but the manager told him 'why did you give them the menu it's too late to order dessert. Just bring them the bill'. We hadnt asked for the bill yet. My two friends were horrified.

Then she came again and said 'we are closing' despite a table of 15 people being next to us still sitting and chatting and my boyfriend still sipping his wine. She then added - listen to this: 'you were lucky i gave you a table tonight'.

What the hell??????? We are PAYING GUESTS SO YOU (NOT US) SHOULD BE LUCKY THAT YOU HAVE ANYONE IN YOUR RESTAURANT WITH SUCH A MANAGER!!!!

We paid, got up and left as my very polite friend was about to lose it. But she didnt. We left in disgust.

Obviously the owner of Coco Beach doesnt give a damn as they dont even respond to bad reviews on Trip Advisor so I guess the split behavuour Belgian manager will keep her job and continue to be rude to guests.

Dear Coco Beach owner haven't you seen the bad review about theanager from other people????? Take action!!!!

A small resort right in front of the sea, peaceful, quiet, simple but with everything you need. A walk through the village of Janbiani gives you insights in the everyday life of locals. Breakfast is amazing, staff incredibly friendly: highly recommended!

Coco Beach is a small set of comfortable and roomy bungalooos that really make you feel like you are at your own home--but on an exquisite beach. The staff was very accommodating and food was delicious. Further, it was super safe. Really all of Zanzibar is safe. Bo, the general manager was helpful. She hooked us up with a local fisherman who let us join him on his boat. He fished and we snorkled. Great experience.

We fled to Coco Beach from another hotel nearby which was not to our liking and I was delighted to have a clean room with good storage facilities, even a room safe. The bathroom was good and functioned well. Most to my liking was a sense of peace and privacy as all the rooms were situation in such a way as to allow this.

The manageress could not do enough for us. She was charming. The food was always good and sometimes really excellent. I particularly liked the fish of the day and on the snack menu the chapattis with curried vegetables was utterly delicious.

I had only one small complaint which was that the staff seemed to want to hurry us to eat all the time.
