Stayed here in February 23, with my partner and family. I contacted them prior to arrival and they arranged a very efficient taxi from the airport.on arrival at the hotel we were greeted with a drink and full explanation of the provision and area from the staff. The manager was available daily if needed. Staff couldn't do enough for us. The rooms, there's 10 bungalows around the pool- very clean and comfortable, cleaned daily, they also went in at night as it gets dark to make sure mosquito nets have been pulled round the bed. The staff helped us arrange trips and a day safari back to the mainland. This accommodation is literally on the beach, just down a few steps where many water sports are available. The areas outside of the hotel are a real eye opener but beautiful too. Zanzibar is a beautiful place to visit and still unspoilt by major hotels and tourism, I hope it maintains some of this

We simply loved our stay here. We stayed over 2 Weeks here and we really felt like at home. All the staff was absolutely lovely, the bungalows are super nice and everything is very clean. Sometimes our room got even cleaned in the morning and in the evening. For kiters the best is the certified IKO school directly at the beach if the hotel. All of them were great and awesome too. We really had the best time and are sure to come back soon. Asante sana everyone!! Marius & Julie

I loved this hotel from when I first walked in. Very calming and just beautful. The bungalows are amazing and so clean. They have a great outside area and the lady's who do the housekeeping do an amazing job every day. Jamiel was so helpful and kind during my stay...nothing was a big deal to ask for. The food was great and drinks very reasonable. I ate here every day besides for 1 dinner. They have music playing in the communal area which adds to the ambiance. They also have plug points everywhere to charge your devices and of course the WiFi is really great in all areas. The breakfast you get as part of deal is great with a fruit plate, juice and then your choice of eggs/onlete etc. More than enough to get your day started. I would def stay here again. Such an amazing little spit

"+" The first expression was great so that we made a mistake and we extended the stay in advance just after arrival and to be honest - that was the biggest misunderstanding ever! I would just like to say "thank you" to Roger - he works here. He was the best what happened to us during this too-long-stay. He always remembers what we eat for breakfast so we did not need to ask several times for butter/salt/ketchup, etc... While the rest of the staff sometimes behaved like having their heads in the clouds and we always needed to ask them to bring additionals. That was quite irritating. "-" Actually, I do not know where to start. Because from the very beginning everything seemed to be lovely. But that was just an illusion. Firstly, let me start with the breakfast options as this is very important and it's included in the price. If you like eating big breakfast - you'd better prepare yourself for paying more. Because during our first breakfast one guy from the staff (unfortunately don't remember his name) took our order but we realised that the omlette is done with two eggs only so we asked him to do with 4. He said he would ask the chef and come with the answer. He did not come to inform us. Just while serving the food he said the chef said no. I was like yyy...okay but this is not enough so we want to order something more for breakfast. We ordered two scrambled eggs and you know what? In the evening, we got the bill to sign that we need to pay 2 dollars for two extra eggs. This is unacceptable. While you're staying in the one place for 9 nights, this kind of breakfast becomes boring and repetitive and it's unhealthy to eat the same things every day. Just be aware that the breakfast has poor options. Secondly, I would like to mention that if there is no manager available in the hotel (what happened everyday for a couple of hours!), if you get hurt / there is no chance that you get the first aid kit from the staff. There was the situation that I cut my finger very badly, I was bleeding but I was also out of my adhesive bandages. It was around 8 P.M. I came to the staff asking for some help because I couldn't stop it but the lady said the manager is out now so she cannot help me. In this hotel no one knows where the first aid kit is. Ok, thanks for your help. Last but not least, the manager - Jamiel. He seemed to be friendly but actually he was not at all. We realised that the staff is scared because of him. He said them to charge the guests for everything. Literally! Once, he realised that we bought some fruit in the village and came with it to the room, he talked to me saying not to keeping the fresh fruit in the room as when the ants come, I would be in big trouble. I said ok but what to do. He advised me to bring the fruit and they would keep it in the fridge. I said wow, thank you. That's very kind of you.... in the evening, the bill prepared to sign with 1$ charge for keeping the fruit in the fridge. There was no fridge in the room so he took advantage of the opportunities every single time to charge 1 dollar even if you would like to keep one mango in the fridge. Horrible. I also need to mention that when he was out, the staff was behaving in a different way. While we bought some drinks when the manager was in the office, the staff charged us even for ice cubes, can you imagine? But when he was out, they just didn't. That was also interesting that when the manager got back to the office from the break during the day, he was the most important for the staff because they served him first - coming with an ashtray and a bottle of water (always when he showed up) while the customers were still waiting for their orders.

Response from Customer Care, General Manager at Nur Beach Hotel
Responded 24 Apr 2021
Dear Wiktoria First of all, thank you very much for taking your time to write a review of our hotel – it always helps us to see where we can improve, and your total of four reviews of our hotels (which seem to be your first reviews ever on TripAdvisor/Booking.com) will help us to address any discrepancies that might occur. As you say yourself, the first impression of Nur Beach was favorable, and from our experience, this positive impression stays with the majority of our guests during their stay in any of our hotels – unfortunately not with you. When checking with the staff and management of Nur regarding your complaints that you listed below, we were somewhat surprised to hear that you had not raised any of these points DURING your stay in order for us to make sure that we can address these issues – this is our philosophy of service as we aim to accommodate any special requests and address any lack of quality as soon as possible. It would have helped us to hear more about your experience while you were still at the hotel instead of reading about it when it is too late to assure a positive memory of our hotels. Nur Beach – just like any other hotels on Zanzibar - does not allow food from outside to be brought onto the premises, let alone into the room as any food kept in the rooms attracts ants and other rodents and creates hygienic challenges. In addition, fridges in hotel rooms are not common in Zanzibar (due to unstable electricity, fire hazards with the local building material such as the roof of Nur Beach bungalows). As you say yourself, the manager tried to assist you with food within the realms of the hotel policies, which should have been communicated to you upon arrival. Nur Beach offers good accommodation while also focusing on the quality of food in the restaurant as well as the overall experience of its guests when it comes to beach, pool, and village – interestingly you did not mention anything regarding the latter but decided to focus only on the negative points. We read with interest your detailed observations of the staff behavior and the relationship between management and staff as well as the “manager not liking his guests”. It is a shame to see that it seems to have given the wrong impression – we can assure you that this is the first time we have heard of it, and usually, the service to the guests is a team effort of both staff and management, which have been working well together for the past year, considering all challenges. Your example of the staff knows what the manager expects when he arrives shows us that the staff has received decent training in terms of attention to detail and special requests, therefore contradicting your point of lack of service quality. However, as we do not want other guests to have the same impression as you had, we will check more regularly. The same goes for your comment regarding the breakfast – this is the first time that guests reviewed the breakfast as not being enough but we will keep an eye on it. We will address the training of staff to make sure that there is consistency in service and access to band-aids at any point – Roger seems to be the right candidate to lead this training. Considering all your negative comments about Nur Beach and Fun Beach, we find it very interesting though that you decided to go back to Nur Beach after your stay at Fun Beach because you did not like the A/C (that was not working at Fun).

Covid restrictions made adjustments to the celebration of the silver wedding and brought our "newlywed" couple to Zanzibar, to Jambiani Beach, to Nur Beach Hotel! Thank you to fate and circumstances for this. The holiday turned out to be bright and unforgettable, like the nature of this place, like the Indian Ocean, like colorful locals and sports visitors ! Staff of our hotel: Jamil, Kelly, Fatma, Rasim-thank you for the atmosphere of genuine cordiality and hospitality! We rested and rebooted in a small bungalow, which was cozy and clean, cool in the heat, dry and warm in the rain. We fell under the charm of the "field field", delicious mango and papaya, many hours of walking on the tide. We visited the nearby Kuza Kawa and Josiani, and the distant Stone Town and Nungwi, saw starfish, shells the size of a man's head, huge century-old turtles, charming Tanzanian children. For the first time in my life, I tried octopus, lobster and sour cream apple, saw how papaya, mango, passion fruit grow. With a few nuances, we liked everything! I'd like to go back !
