Tbh for the price of Mwezi vs. some of the other places we stayed at, we weren’t expecting too much. Mwezi well and truly exceeded our expectations. Was one of five places we stayed on the island, and apart from Park Hyatt - was by far the best.
We stayed in the apartments, which is perhaps better described as a cabin. The ability to order groceries for delivery was fantastic, after so much time on the road, it was nice to be able to cook a few meals.

The prices were very reasonable, not the extortionate prices seen elsewhere on the island.

Only thing was that the apartments get really hot in the midday sun and the Ac struggles to cool. But since you’re only a few feet from the pool, it’s no big deal.

The food was very good, we found a lot of the meals at resorts on the island to be a bit ‘meh’, whether it was the seasoning, ingredients or the cooking skill - it would just taste a bit flat. Mwezi was different. Really flavourful food, we enjoyed every meal!

The pool at the apartments was incredible, the best on the island. Our toddlers enjoyed playing on the steps. Compared to other salt water pools, the salinity was quite low, so we never had that salt eye sting.

The team there were very friendly and helpful and definitely added an extra shine to the stay.

We worked while we were there, and the wifi was fantastic. We could do video calls from our balcony, inside, or in the main pavilion where we had lunch. Would highly recommend it for people looking to work remotely.

I only wish we’d stayed longer!

We were lucky enough to have our wedding at Mwezi in February 2023.

Over 30 of our friends and family joined us in Zanzibar to celebrate our wedding and we booked out the Mwezi bungalows for 5 nights.

I would first like to start by thanking Mwezi for such an incredible stay and wedding day. They really went above and beyond in terms of accommodating us. Elga and Sine were so helpful in supporting us with planning and Billy was fantastic with the execution of the day.

The staff are amazing, so friendly and a lot of fun – they made sure everyone feels so welcomed. They dealt really well with our large group ordering food/ drinks through out the day and set up a special place for us in the evenings to eat together in the restaurant.

The grounds here are beautiful, a real paradise in nature vibe. The bungalows are stunning, and all our guests were blown away with how beautiful they are. The pool area is great – it is very big with a shallow area so those who didn’t feel comfortable swimming could still join in the pool fun. We stayed in the beach house which has a lovely private area out the back with views of the sea and beach. It felt very safe and secure.

The food is really good with options for vegetarians (which I am). There is a good variety of the menu so you can choose snacking bits or full meals.

Onto the wedding day! I really cannot express what a brilliant job Mwezi and our wedding planner Pamela from Castaway Weddings, did in creating perfection for us. We had the ceremony on the beach outside of Mwezi and the reception in the Mwezi grounds around the pool. The set up was stunning! We opted for a plated starter, and seafood buffet for the mains which was set up by the pool for easy access. We also had a vegetarian a gluten free option for those who needed it. We finished with fruit platters and cake. The canapes we chose for after the ceremony were delightful and it is safe to say no one went hungry! The staff kept was fed and watered throughout the evening as we danced away on the dance floor by the pool. We finished off the evening by all jumping in the pool in our wedding get up which was really fun!

For anyone looking or thinking about getting married here, I HIGHLY recommend it – we couldn’t have possibly asked for a more beautiful location, friendly staff, great food and a place which now feels like home.

A HUGE HUGE thank to everyone at Mwezi, we cant wait to come back!

Nice place with good pool and well decorated room. The sand everywhere can be a bit messy though and the beds are way too hard to sleep comfortably. The location is quiet, if you prefer a place where you can be mobile by yourself this is not the best spot. You are very dependent on taxis and trips organized by the hotel. Another downside is the customer service and the billing system, the staff is overly nice to you in general and when greating you but when it actually matters they can be very rude all of the sudden. We had some drinks on our bill that were ordered by another room, after telling the staff this they sent another person that in her own words 'came to deal with these guests'. When she realized the charge was indeed wrong they didn't provide us with a new bill for more than an hour because they wanted to find the actual room number that ordered the drinks first. This is a bit unprofessional, when you realize you made a mistake please make it right with us first. Finding the correct room is something we shouldn't stay up for since we had nothing to do with this mistake.

So unique and natural hotel! 😍You can feel yourself like in a little paradise! Jungle around you with pool in the middle and sand under your feet.
Bungalow has comfortable and clean bed with net to protect from mosquitoes. (I didn’t see any). We had a ceiling fan so it wasn’t too hot. The room was cleaned in the morning and in the evening. Everything were good. By the way, we even saw monkey on our roof one night. You are really close to nature. :)
All staff are friendly and doing their best! Halo to beautiful Nurry and to Francis with big smile. Waiters so nice and polite. Big thanks for the cooks in restaurant! Food is delicious.
From this place it easy to go on various tour or just visit another beach. Like Paje that very close.
I was pleasantly surprised with beautiful island Zanzibar and people who lives here. Recommend to visit! I would like come back ❤️ Asante sana for everybody☺️

I was staying at the La Luna Suites part of the resort. The suite is beautiful and well cleaned. You can order a lot of different food and drink to cook for yourself to a reasonable price.

I really appreciate the complementary drinkingwater in the glassbottle which you can refill to reduce plastic. (And that you support the beach clean up!)

The whole resort is biult beautiful and there are a lot of fruittrees like banana, papaya, coconut, which spend a lot of shade.

The 2 pools are huge and clean. There is plenty of space around and always enough sunbeds for everyone.

The whole resort is well organized and you feel like in a 4-5star resort.

A special thank you goes out to Jackline, who remembered my name from our first conversation and made me feel really welcome and at home here.
And to Cathrine, a trainee at housekeeping who kept my room clean and was always really friendly to me. I hope you‘ll get the chance to learn beeing a barkeeper one day.
I wish you all the best!

We were first family who had stay at new part od resort called Luna - new summer houses in europian style equiped with A/C.
Whole resort Is very nice, cottages in African style, big swimming pool, beautiful reception And mostly very nice people working there, taking care about quests every time you needed something.
If you stay there, you should visit "svahili dinner" which is each Wednesday. You can eat local food, listen Local music band And dance with them. We really enjoyed, we were 2x 😍
We Also saw monkey coming to us, where we were ať swimming pool, it's probably citizen of mwezi.

Special praise goes to Emanuel and Khamis who work in service:
Very friendly and attentive, quick and always open to questions when choosing dishes. Very attentive at the Pool regarding orders.
Everyone was really warm, but especially These two.

We decided to book Mewzi for our wedding. All of the bungalows had been booked and on our big day Mwezi let us convert the pool area into the location for our wedding breakfast and put down a dance floor with the ceremony taking place on the beach.

Billy and the Mwezi team were out of this world amazing!, They were welcoming and supportive even with a few last minute changes. They worked really well with the castaway wedding planning team the food and drinks were excellent and the BBQ was perfect, they even helped us get some pizzas in for the end of the night from further down the beach. We had 32 guest staying in total and everyone loved the venue and the team, they cannot stop talking about how great it was and many want to go back again in future.

We couldn't recommend Mwezi more highly, it was our perfect rustic laid back vibe and a great wedding destination. Thank you everyone who helped make our big day so special we will remember you always and hopefully be back again in future!

Hi Tony, I found prices to be pretty much up to par with other hotel restaurants along the beach. I remember having a cocktail the first night we arrived, maybe roughly 8$USD. Never had anything else after that. Hope that helps!
