We stayed 4 nights at Oxygen in one of the ocean view villas. Although a bit more pricey, it was hands down one of the nicest and most unique places we have ever stayed, so it was totally worth it. Waking up to the sunshine, views of the ocean and jungle is something that I will always remember. My husband and I loved that although you feel like your submerged in nature and solace, the villas still offer all the modern amenities to make a stay more enjoyable. The beds/pillows were super comfy and the cleaning staff does a great job cleaning up multiple times throughout day as it’s easy to drag in a lot of mud and what not. Beyond the villas, the pool area, bar and restaurant area were also gorgeous and perfect for relaxing. The best part about the pool and location is that the sun will not hit the area the entire day so it’s not like you’re baking outside like you would be at a beach location in Costa Rica. This made it super enjoyable because we could sit by the pool all day and relax. The spa/massage was also spectacular and reasonable pricing. The food is fantastic but do be aware that it’s smaller portions for dinner at least, so for my husband who is 6’6” and eats a lot, that meant we did eat offsite at times just due to him being more hungry. The road to the hotel is def rugged, we are from Colorado and this road is very similar to getting to a hiking trailhead, so make sure car is 4x4. Our first rental was not and we got stuck going up the hill. Last but not least, the staff of Oxygen was amazing. They were beyond helpful and so attentive to our needs…shout-out to Luis and Gayvin, they were so amazing!!! They are some of the best bartenders/mixologists ever, the cocktails and margs were incredible. Highly recommend Oxygen to any couple wanting a relaxing and unique stay.

Beautiful property, incredibly friendly bi-lingual staff, great restaurant too! Rooms were very peaceful and comfortable; the staff comes by and tidied up at an almost alarming rate (not a bad thing at all). The waterfall hike in the jungle was awesome too. We booked a snorkel trip to Caño island through Oxygen and it went great - they made us breakfast early, and the trip itself was a blast. My wife and I stayed at Oxygen on our 10-year anniversary trip and we absolutely loved it.

This hotel is so, so very close to being an incredible place to stay.

You definitely need a 4x4 to get here as it’s up a steep path, so heed their advice!

The welcome drink (a pina colada) was a great touch, and something that we hadn’t come across in Costa Rica yet. A cool towel on arrival as well would also be a great touch (something you get in other hot countries).

We arrived about 1pm, were told that we couldn’t have our room until 2, which was fine, but we were then told nearly an hour later that we actually couldn’t have it until 3, which was a bit annoying considering we’d been waiting. If we had known it was 3, we’d have just gone into the town.

When we got into the room, it was really nice - the guy who took us there showed us all the features of the room, which was really helpful. Its nice to be able to shut out the actual nature (AKA the bugs) but still be able to experience it, which is what’s great about this place... and it’s so nice to have aircon! The room was lovely and clean, but the toilet did whiff a bit. I mentioned this when we checked out and I did actually get an email from the hotel a day or so later saying they had replaced the toilet seat, so hopefully that solves the problem!

The breakfast was good (I had the breakfast burrito) and I can’t say for lunch or dinner as we went out. I can’t quite understand why breakfast isn’t included in the room rate and you have to pay separately - that seems mad to me, especially as the breakfast is really reasonably priced. I’d rather pay a few $ more upfront and have my breakfast included, as I think paying for that additionally takes away from the ‘luxury’ feel.

The pool area is really nice. It’s relaxing, it has a great view but it’s annoyingly close to the dining area and reception.

The staff here are great and this is definitely some of the best service I experienced in Costa Rica (where for the most part, I feel the service is lacking).

Again, this is so, so, so close to being an amazing hotel. Just a few small changes could really take it up a notch and would mean it would get a 5* from me if I stayed again. So, fingers crossed!

The place to go? Yes

Dear Bonnie, Thank you for your honest and constructive review, I appreciate you noticing and mentioning how Oxygen sets itself apart from other Costa Rican hotels providing exceptional great service. I was the person that wrote you the next day to let you know we had resolved the issue you brought up. Please write me back with your suggestions on how we can improve, most changes we make to be better come from our guest feedback. I want to let you know that we include breakfast in all reservations received directly via hotel website, phone or email. As you mentioned, our breakfast prices are very affordable, however we cannot include it in reservations made through third parties because of the large commission fees they take. We hope to have you back soon! Jorge Andres Guerrero Hospitality Expert

Where do I begin the service was AMAZING. Mauricio was our driver from the airport he was so patient as my flight was delayed he also stopped on the way for us to grab food. We were greeted by Henry who had amazing service it was super rainy and he provided us with umbrellas upon arrival and had our bags delivered directly to our room. Anything you may need they make it happen at Oxygen i even had local food i wanted and Isaac assisted in my ordering and it was delivered to my room.
Anytime i needed fresh towel they came very fast we communicated through whats app via the reception desk.

Luis and Lady kept the food orders very accurate and the drinks were perfect. I can’t wait to come back next year!

Thank you for an amazing rain forest experience Oxygen!

My partner and I had such a lovely 6 nights stay in the Oxygen jungle villas. It is a magical place, all staff and the owner are so helpful, kind, friendly and they have the attitude “everything is possible”. Their cook and bartender were very flexible and DJ as well, mostly of time the music was tranquil and relaxing, you wouldn’t hear it at your private accomoodation. We stayed in the “glass” little cute house which gave us feeling like we are a part of nature and has all that a modern world can offer. In the resort there’s a swimming pool with an exceptional ocean view and the forest around. I also highly recommend their massage located in the forest right next to a river bed with waterfalls and a few little ponds. A local lady will give you a pressure of your massage as you wish, and after that you can take a bath in one of river ponds (the water comes from the mountain so it is very clean).
As this place is in a heart of the mountain, do yourself favor and get a 4x4 car if you plan to rent one and want to enjoy some trips.
We were travelling around Costa Rica for 4 weeks and stayed in different places as well but this one was the best for us and a very special one.
We really loved the place and we hope to return there again.
Pura Vida!

There isn't enough good to say about this hotel and its surroundings. The rooms are separate glass villas all very privately set in the jungle, with outdoor living rooms. We loved sleeping with the curtains open and watching the world around us. The infinity pool is epic with a view of the ocean and monkeys fooling around. The restaurant is incredible and will save what you don't finish and serve it to you the next day with added bread or salad. The service is 5 star! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The nearby places are great - there is a euro flare in the city, and we loved finding live silver dollars all over the beach

At first glance, the glass villas and stunning infinity pool are likely to be what sets this hotel apart. The glass villas are fantastic for keeping an eye out for wildlife, and for gazing at the stunning surrounding jungle, and the infinity pool is every bit as inviting as it looks. But the service is the true win: Bryan, Danielle, Steven, Roy and the rest of the team are amazing at helping you to have the best holiday possible. The food is also incredible.

We didn't hire a car; taxi costs in the region of $220 each way from San Jose airport. Not having a car did limit us slightly in terms of exploring Uvita, but we took full advantage of the tours organised by Oxygen - the snorkelling and hiking in Corcovado were both fantastic and highly recommended! We also tried surfing although for us as beginners the surf was a little too rough, so check on the day.

This was an absolute wonder. We called ahead of our reservation date and asked if we could store our luggage two days before arrival (we camped in Corcovado) and the hotel staff held our luggage until we arrived. Wonderful service. Upon our actual checkin, we were greeted with smiles. A welcome drink next to the pool was a great touch. We were also upgraded to a sea view suite which was a very pleasant surprise. The restaurant was great, also situated on the edge of the pool with great views of the ocean. The room was excellent. Spacious, very clean and the outside terrace had a very large couch to watch the numerous birds flying right in front of our eyes. Breakfast was included in our stay and was delicious. The hotel is perched up high so the views dominate the ocean. Nice location away from the hustle and bustle from the town of Uvita. Would definitely stay at this establishment at any time. Parking on site. Secure and safe. There is not much to do around the hotel but there is no need to leave, this place was just amazing. Thank you!

This place is a bit more expensive, but it really feels like everything is completely taken care of for you. There is always a staff member at the front desk that will help with anything you need. Rooms are absolutely amazing. The breakfast was perfect. You order off a menu, not a buffet. The late morning and early afternoon snacks were great as well, guac with home made chips, hummus and pita bread. There is always someone there to bring drinks or food, it felt very luxurious.
I did make the mistake of renting a 2 wheel drive SUV. I thought it would be big enough, but that road is no joke... I got stuck. Definitely my own fault as they clearly told me to rent a 4x4 or get a 4x4 taxi.

The oxygen jungle villas is jungle paradise. I stayed in the new jungle spa room and it was absolutely amazing. The room is the most secluded one out of all the villas on the property including a soaking tub and lounge sofa on the spacious terrace. The bed was very soft and the villa had all the amenities I needed to make my stay comfortable because I forgot a few things at home.

The staff at oxygen jungle villas are extremely welcoming and friendly, they make the best drinks and are very knowledgeable about their craft. They remember everyone’s names which makes the experience even more personable compared to any other hotel. The chicken quesadillas are the best!

I also had a massage at the spa by the river. By far the most unique luxury spa experience I’ve ever had! Imagine getting a relaxing massage in the middle of the forest with the sounds of the river passing by. AMAZING!

What I loved the most about this place was that they operate around the idea of being completely natural, fresh, and healthy with everything that they do. Oxygen jungle villas made my trip to Costa Rica memorable and I can’t wait to go back!

Activity prices vary depending on the activity. You do have to pay for your transportation for all of the activities on top of the activity. We took a taxi approx 10 mins from the hotel to a brewery in town and it was about $15.

Hi there. The prices are typical mid- to upscale restaurant prices for the USA. I’ll try to post a copy of some of the menu. The food is very good and definitely worth the prices. Breakfast is usually included, which is huge and amazing. They will also pack to go breakfasts for days you have early tours. Or bring food to your villa. All at no extra charge. They are very accommodating. Someone else posted they had trouble picking vegetarian items but that was never our experience. They have plenty of choices and were always willing to make adjustments.
