Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is alright, however I noticed I smell of sewage in the passage way of our room. We also noticed the wifi is very spotty and you have to sit outside to use it which is annoying considering you’ve got tiny fleas and mosquitoes biting you whilst using it. I would find somewhere else to stay.

It is located near beach. 5 minutes walking. But you have to pay 6 USD each day to use the beach. The rooms are old. Beds are not comfortable. The madress is covered by a plastic layer which make it very noisy and uncomfortable. Very old TV. Very little bathroom. Difficult to close or open the door when you where inside. Breakfast is traditional with coffee and rice and egg. there is a pool. It is 45 minutes walking to busstation. The family that owns the hotel are extremely nice and helpfull people.

We enjoyed the location (near the beach) and we enjoyed our stay except for a few hiccups. It had a nice pool that was well kept. However there were other things we saw to do, such as a gym area and a game room, but no one on the staff shared with us how to use them or access them. There was a good restaurant on site, but we had a lot of problems with slow service (food was good). One night we ordered pizza at the end of the first half of soccer and after the soccer game ended we were still waiting for the pizza. When we complained (the rest of my family group is Costa Rican, so everything was in Spanish.) the restaurant staff got an attitude that we were all put off by. In summary, it is a nice property that seems to have some staffing issues.

I stayed some nights here and i was concerned about the quality because of the price. In the end it was just enough to stay close to the beach because you just need a place to stay. A pool was in front of the room so it was great. The restaurant was the best part because food was delicious and very affordable. The beach and national park Ballenas is very close so you have everything to enjoy your holidays!

A very marginal hotel, thankfully only stayed one night. The whole place needs renovating and refreshing. Rooms small and moldy. Pool area Ok but not inviting. Lots of concrete. Slept on the ground floor in front of the passage way so lots of noise

We make it a point to stay here every time we are in Costa Rica. You need for nothing when you are here. The restaurant serves great food, the pool is refreshing the rooms are very comfortable with cold air and hot water. Its close to the beach and shopping. We have been as a couple, with our family and will be back this August again as a family. Looking forward to it, The family are great hosts.

Owners came and found us. We were lost. Modern, well kept buildings, friendly staff, found us neighbor/ local that could translate. Family owned/ staff could understand our needs. Taught us some Spanish. We needed mid vacation Laundry service, provided. Hotel, set up Whale Tour and took us to site. Made sure we had an English speaking guide. Large Country maintained beach, short walk to great Vistas. Landscaping with flowering planters. Near stores and other restaurants. Large shower with hot water. free wi fi. Large pool around courtyard, with outdoor shower/ bathrooms. Night security. Ice available. great a/c unit in room. Handicapped access to ground floor rooms and pool area. Breakfast served with local fresh fruits. Off season for them, weather was great, no rain. Hated to leave, felt like visiting family.

We arrived at Nido del Halcon during the busiest time of year without a reservation and they made room for us, all six of us. The rooms were so clean, the beds were amazingly comfortable, there was hot water (which is hard to come by in Costa Rica), the pool was wonderful, the beach was super close and this was the only hotel we stayed in that the a/c didn't keep us up all night because of the noise and it was icy cold. The hotel also provides a chauffeur service to town! The food in the restaurant was delicious and they were incredibly accommodating with our modifications/dietary needs. Beyond that the family that owns this hotel was lovely to be around, genuinely sweet and caring people. They spoke English and helped us with our travel plans and even let us store our computer there while we traveled the rest of the country for a month! We are already planning another trip to Costa Rica and planning on staying there again. Plus, Uvita is one of the nicest beaches in Costa Rica!

Lumpy pillows so bad we went out to Mondo Imports and bought some (not a bad idea for a long trip here). Beds are a single layer of foam on plywood - like sleeping in an RV. Noisy fridge and wakes you up when someone drives by, it starts raining, etc (Stayed in room #1). Pool was shallow and way too warm to go in during the day (almost hot tub hot). Lighting was poor and the blinds were thin. Every time we went into the restaurant they told us they had no food (can't be normal), Rooms do NOT have safes - just one in their office (?!?), location makes walking very difficult, shower doesn't drain well, Millipedes and termites were common in the room (to be expected i suppose).

Now for the compliments - Decent value, nice watching birds around the pool area, great WIFI, good housekeeping, fridge worked well (but noisy), AC did the job and parking was secure. Shop around you'll likely find better...

We enjoyed our room! The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating! It was a lovely place to stay close to many things. Breakfast was a typical Costa Rican breakfast with delicious fresh squeezed orange juice!
