The room was renovated brand new and they took us only 80 euros per night. We didn't have a reservation, but dropped in to ask for free rooms. Air-con, rain shower, nice big bed, every day cleaning service, etc...
The hotel was kept by a french couple. They both spoke excellent English and were very friendly! There is a beach just across the street and some shops and restaurants in about 1,5 km walking distance. But if you stay here, eat at the hotel!! The food was good and the view from the terrace is nice. Ok priced ok breakfast.

We chose the Cap Riviera after reviewing TA member's comments. We were not disappointed. From the first meeting at reception to the departure 5 days later we could not fault the hospitality from all the staff. The room (well appointed, tasteful bathroom) we chose had a balcony with a sea view, it was also tastefully decorated on a South Seas theme. Lovely to wake up to the lapping of the sea on the beach outside. On the down side there is a little noise from the traffic on the road below but it is easily shut out by closing the french window.
Also the food is lovely, servings can be a little large but you don't have to eat the whole serving, (I am a war baby and have a compulsion not to waste any food). There are 2 other eating places nearby in easy walking distance, but their menus are limited. If you want to eat at some of the Saint Aygulf restaurants you will need transport (about 1km).

Excellant value, I will go back and stay at Cap Riviera again next year.

excellently located for visiting St Tropez, Cannes etc and a 30 second walk acroo the road to a small beach in a cove..however you cross the main coast road through the Riviera to get there...very very busy!!
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful - the restaurant was excellent (with a great view of the Med from the terrace). We had a garden room at the back of the hotel (in a little courtyard) which turned out to be a good thing, as it meant we were away from the busy road noise. The garden suite we had was a very large room - clean and fresh...although a very small bathroom.

I read enthusiastic reviews here, and chose it for a few days of rest. In general we are satisfied, and we could consider coming back, but my expectations were much higher than what I found in reality. Even if any judgment is very personal, I think some reviews are far too high.
We must say that there are very positive notes. Price is competitive for the area and location is perfect, being the hotel just in front of a nice and quiet beach (in May). The owners are also helpful and very kind. It is in a good position to explore the riviera, but to go anywhere you need a car, being it far from any town centre.
The "but" now. Rooms are very small, furnished in a simple way but freshly painted. I was disappointed to find as wardrobe a shelf cabinet closed by a curtain. Not a single drawer available. OK if you stay a couple of days, but for longer period I would not know where to put my stuff. The bathroom is basic, and almost IN the room, from which is separated by a sliding door. There is anyhow a good shower. The problem is the ventilation: the bathroom of course does not have a window, but forced ventilation is not there as well...Not to have it as a steam bath after a couple of showers you need to keep the door open, so finally the bathroom is IN the room.
Cleanliness: the pile blanket was full of hairs! and the floor, washed every day, had the hairs moved around more than removed. Not to mention the net with spider in the breakfast room. This was definitely below my standard.
There is no minibar in the room: this means that you don't have the possibility to keep fresh beverages in your room and that during summer your make up products will melt :-(
Service: the breakfast, not included in the price (+7.5€) is bread, croissants, butter and marmalade, together with coffee/tea and economic industrial orange juice. There is no possibility to choose, no ham, cheese, yogourt,..
For this cost they could offer more.
Mind that there is nothing in the hotel, apart from a snack bar that anyhow closes at 9pm.
All in all it is a good value for money choice, but surely not a dream place.

We are currently 5 nights into our 7 night stay at the Cap Riviera & we are absolutely delighted that we chose this hotel. It is literally across the road from a very clean secluded family beach. We are staying in a sea view room with a fantastic outlook over the beautiful blue med sea. The room is very clean, well equipped & tastefully furnished as is the whole hotel.we have eaten in the hotel on several evenings & the food has always been delicious & good sized potions, breakfast on the terrace each morning is equally as good. At the rear of the hotel is a lovely quiet garden area where you can choose to sit in the sun or while away an hour so in the shade with a good book. The road outside our sea view room is quite busy during the day & into the evening with traffic noise. But is not so bad as to prevent sitting & sunbathing on the balcony & at night with the shutter closed the traffic noise is almost completely shut out. We have / are having a superb stay at the Cap Riviera and what really makes this hotel so different / much better than others is the friendly, helpful and attentive service from our hosts Alain & Patrizia as well as their staff. Saint Algulf is about 20 - 30 min walk to shops, restaurants & a small harbour. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Alain and Patrizia are wonderful hosts. The location is unbeatable, perched on a hill, nice breezes, great view, not too far away from St Maxime's/St Raphael/St Tropez's hustle and bustle, if that's what you want. While there is no pool, who needs one when the sea is across the street and many other beaches are within walking distance as well? The breakfast was lovely, they will make you whatever you want. The family rooms at the hotel were perfect, two separate rooms adjoined by a door and the children's room had enough for 3 kids with 3 beds (which is hard to find). The hotel is extremely clean, the beds comfy, the sea facing rooms have an amazing view and I believe most rooms have a very nice terrace. We didn't find the traffic that loud at all, and the AC was the most quiet I have ever heard yet worked very well when needed. The only suggestion I would make is perhaps to have more fresh fruit (peaches, melon, berries) for breakfast and on the menu in general. In fact a lot of the eateries/hotels we visited in the S of France are surrounded by these lovely markets with delectable fruits and veg and yet what is being served in the restaurant is obviously not from those markets? That and if they added robes in the room, I'd say it is more like a 4 star hotel :).

We spent a couple of nights here at the begiining of September and were delighted with every aspect of our stay. The owners speak excellent English, and were very helpful in sorting out problems with hire car, lost keys etc. We stayed in a family room at the front, with great terrace, and two large bedrooms. The road didn't bother us at all, and the hotel was within easy walking distance of a beach with 2 very good restaurants. The snack menu at the hotel was also delicious. Wish we had stayed longer, and would certainly stay there again.

Awful, awful, awful.

I don't leave many reviews nowadays but I felt OBLIGED to write this one.

I'll cut most of the GOOD and most of the BAD and stick to the MAIN thing...

We did NOT sleep very well at all during our stay. We paid EXTRA to have a SEA view and in fact, what we were paying for is the worst nights sleep in living memory.

The floors are TILE floors.

The problem is, when you drag a chair over a tiled floor, it makes this WEIRD dull 'fingers down a chalk board' noise.

And that noise TRAVELS. Through walls. Through ceilings.

Our room was next to the dining/drinking/communal area so whereas we should have just gotten the usual 'rude' people above or next door, we actually got it again and again and again...

Laughing from people on the terrace.

BEEERP... a chair dragged across the floor.

Then you'd start to fall to sleep.

BEEERP. Another chair dragged across the floor.

BANG.... A door closes in the corridor.

BEEERP. Chair goes again.

Loud conversation, over the top 'drunken' belly laugh... BEEERP.

You get the picture.

Again. And again. And again.

I looked at the time and they were doing this as early as 6am the first morning of our stay... Maybe they was cleaning the room and moving all the chairs?! Preparing? Who knows!

And it was going on until gone 2am the night after!!!

Absolutely ATROCIOUS....

Don't get me wrong, the hostess seemed very nice but for what I paid for the hotel, I expected better. I never got to tell her as she wasn't there when we left and I figured there was no point complaining whilst we were there as she'd already said they had no more sea view rooms available (guess we go the unfortunate last resort room)...

Anyways... It ruined our trip.

I was extremely pleased I didn't book 3 nights like I was going to and we had that little sleep those nights, we decided to cut our trip 10 nights short!!! And drove back home early.

Proper ruined it.

To the owners. Get some FELT for under the chairs and you will resolve half the problem. Really. Such a simple fix. And cheap.

But anyways.... Yeah, I won't go into the fact that the location is in fact in the middle of nowhere. You'll risk your life crossing the road for the beach. The decor of the rooms is similar to smearing dog sick on the walls. Your body will turn OFF your shower, WHILST you have a shower due to the style of taps, the door latches will literally CUT you if you bump into them hard (as I did twice)....

But yeah, even with NOISE CANCELLING headphones on to TRY and get some sleep, I still struggled.

Beware of reviews that talk extensively about how the staff or owners are, I find these reviews to be left by people that the owners have built a 'relationship' with during their stay...

Probably the drunken ones laughing and moving their chairs all night keeping the others awake...

Oh and before I forget... The WIFI is TERRIBLE. I mean. THE WORST. And don't think your 4G roaming will do it. The signal is BAD.

I really needed my WIFI to work as I had some important stuff to do and when booking it said that customers consistently rate their WIFI as excellent... this is NOT true.

Do NOT trust this. I knew it was no true the moment I got there and the owner told me the wifi was not good. Trying to soften the blow somewhat. If you need reliable high speed Internet, do NOT stay here. It's BAD!

There... said it...

Dear Guest, thank you for taking time during your holidays to write this review. We are very sorry about all this but we would like to point out that : 1. why didn't you come to us the next morning and tell us that the upstairs people were so noisy ? We could maybe find a solution. We only saw you twice : first (I, the hostess, as you mentioned) at your check in and second at your check out (the owner, hostess' husband). That's it. We are there every single morning. And when you checked out, Alain ask you if everything was ok and you said "yes". 2. You didn't pay any extra for the sea view, you paid 6.50 € less / night for this last room. 3. You mentioned about the wifi and 4 G, it is true that sometimes it is very slow but it works, and when I told it to you, you answered "never mind we'll manage". About 4 G, you can contact the network's owner. 4. About guest's reviews, do you really mean that all the reviews we have are fake and written by relatives, Hum, Hum, Hum 5. Did you really cut your trip 10 nights short because of us ? Hum, hum, Hum 6. When I read about your "adventure" in the shower, it seems to see a Mr Bean movie. 7. We are not in the middle of nowhere, we are in front of a nice sandy beach and, from our hotel, it is very easy to join plenty of locations. You can risk your life anywhere when you cross a road on a pedestrian crossing. Do you really think that you pay this price for a sea view room of a hotel direct on the beach ? Hum, hum, hum. You could check the location on Google Map. UNBELIEVABLE UNBELIEVABLE UNBELIEVABLE Patrizia and Alain.

Recently stayed at this lovely family run hotel. Perfect location right on the beach. Room was lovely, a fantastic shower in the room. Fantastic choice for breakfast - perfect eggs - thank you Alain. The hotel was a 20 min walk into Saint Aygulf, about 20 mins in car to Saint Maxime. The owners, Alain and Patrizia really make this hotel special along with their staff. I would want to go back just to see them.

Beautiful hotel right across from the water. Gorgeous room (19) with a balcony and amazing sea view. 2 x single beds as requested and nice bathroom with amenities and hair dryer. Alan and Patricia are lovely (owners) speak at least English French Italian and German. Alan carried our bags up to our room. He Wasn't cooking that night but phoned every restaurant in the area to find us something for dinner. Unfortunately no one open as holiday weekend. He gave us a few snacks with drinks then he had to go out for dinner so closed the bar. Breakfast was wonderful for 9 euro each as much as you could eat. Beds were clean (bit hard for my liking) and room very nice. I'd stay here again. Free parking.
