We arrived from the airport around lunchtime. By check in we were told that we could not use the facilities until 4pm. Our flight left early in the morning, so after a phone call, we were allowed to have lunch.
The room is comfortable and we had sea view. Two shower rooms and two TVs (only Italian programmes though) Great balcony and mini bar( containing water when we arrived, was not filled further) . The air conditioning short circuited one night but we were given a different room for a night and it was repaired the next day (a good solution) . Clean but not modern.
Food was great, staff in the restaurant too. You are assigned a table, which stayed the same for two weeks. We had friendly contact with other guests around us.
Breakfast mostly based on Italian cakes and croissants, though a chef made eggs and bacon to order and detox shakes were freshly made. A barrista made your coffee to order (heaven!) Other meals mostly warm and cold buffet, lots of choice and a chef to cook the meat or fish of the day on the grill. You could book to eat in the Puglian restaurant downstairs and we did do that. We had a great meal, the waiters were attentive and other guests extremely friendly. Apparently the bar by the bigger swimming pools becomes a pizzeria at night, we did not eat there , though the pizzas served at the end of the afternoon were excellant
All inclusive has a wide selection of drinks, butvthe only bar serving all day was next to middle swimming pool (siesta) . Bar staff OK, not articularly friendly .
Swimming pools ok, no lifeguards during siesta, plenty of sunbeds . Unfortunately the tiles on the terrace at the middle swimming pool were dirty and didn't seem to have been cleaned in the week that we regularly used the pool . You were also asked to not use glasses at the pool, but this rule was not adhered to.
The wifi was only available at one bar and at one side of the pool.
Animation all in Italian, no problem for us (we were in Italy)but may be for some.
The hotel is well positioned to visit the historical places in middle Puglia. 10 minutes to the A road , a shuttle bus to Pogliano at regular intervals, though we didn't use it. Parking busy in the second week (there were more Italian guests then) . Gardens beautiful and well kept . Apart from the one pool, the hotel was beautifully clean and I would not hesitate to recommend it, service was mostly good though I would describe the reception staff as business like rather than friendly.
This is not a cheap hotel, perhaps a little more attention to detail is needed in some areas

Travelled here along with 2 other couples. We arrived very late due to flight delays but were welcomed with a plate of food in the room. A very nice touch! Reception don’t speak very good English but we got by and were no issues at all really regards to that! Majority of people staying were Italian maybe a few French and German not many British at all. But to be honest I quite liked it that way! No idiots trying to grab sun-beds it was just nice and chilled. No issues on room for sunbathing. The smaller pool got the busiest but the larger pool always had plenty of space. Only downside is the large pool closed the snack bar from 12.30-4.30 and couldn’t even get a drink at that time there. They eat late in Italy! Pizza served 10.30-12.30 then closed till 4.30 which made no sense to me. The main restaurant was great, outstanding food with such a good variety, had something different everyday! Free shuttle bus into polignano a mare, and omg it’s such a beautiful town! Massive shout out to Thomas one of the drivers. What a lovely bloke! So polite and his English was exceptional! Sorry forgotten the other guys name but he too was lovely! Rooms spacious and good air con. Beach is stone but can get down into sea via some steps. It’s crystal clear! Last day reception charged me 140 euro extra for upgrade of suite. All 3 couples had a suite and had not been charged… honestly with the language barrier I gave up arguing after 20 mins and just paid. It really annoyed me and I will be emailing separately but I decided not to base my view on the sour last few hours… oh and thanks Thomas for making our jubilee pic go viral :)

I stayed for 7 nights at this hotel on a Rail Discoveries tour. It was a brilliant stay. The rooms were large and spacious and I had an upstairs balcony. The downstairs rooms had a verandah. The food in the restaurant was superb with plenty of choice at all meal times. The hotel had three outdoor pools including one near the bar. You could also swim in the sea at the hotel's private beach. The hotel is a few miles away from Polignano but there is an hourly shuttle bus to the town. My room featured a lounge area, large shower/wc and a large bedroom with air conditioning in the bedroom and lounge area and TV in both bedroom and lounge. There was plenty of storage space in the rooms. The house keeping was very good with towels and soap being changed everyday. If you wanted WiFi you needed to go to the hotel bar to access this as it wasn't available in the bedrooms. All the staff were extremely friendly and most spoke English.

Lovely surroundings and decent rooms, although a bit of a refurb wouldn't go amiss.
The restaurant was more like a works canteen. Lots of food but much of it unlabelled. Not much of the best quality either. Hold onto your plate when you put your bread to your mouth as the waiter may whisk the plate away. Wine was on "tap" but only a choice of red or white. Certainly not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The poorest 4 star I have ever visited.
Also a bit out of the way. While there was a shuttle bus to Polignano it did not run on Sundays.
All in all I would not recommend this hotel.

Response from Emanuele Spennato, Other at Pietrablu Resort & Spa - CDSHotels
Responded 18 Jan 2023
Dear Nick4995, Many thanks for visiting us at Pietrablu Resort & Spa and for sparing some time to leave a valuable feedback. Pietrablu is not situated in the very centre of Polignano a mare because of its size, which would not easily fit into the narrow streets of the city. In any case, it does enjoy a splendid sea view that we are certain has captivated your heart. At the same time, we are sorry to hear that our choice of food did not meet your expectations. Once again, thank you so much for your time. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to welcome you back and provide you with a more rewarding experience on your next stay.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this resort. We were travelling as part of a Rail Discoveries tour and this was our base hotel for the week.
It's a lovely hotel and I would recommend it. It has a shuttle bus to take you into Polignano a Mare, 5 mins drive away and highly recommended. The rooms are comfirtable and of a decent size with a balcony and lounge area. The bathroom is on the small size with a very compact shower.
The staff are lovely and all very friendly and helpful. A mention must go to the ladies on the breakfast station, Margherita and Christina (sorry if I got this wrong) who prepared fresh Omelettes, Eggs, Crepes, Pancakes and Waffles each morning to order. They were superb. The food over-all in the restaurant is excellent and if you're a vegetarian the wonderful Enza will ensure something is prepared especially for you. Every meal is buffet style and very fresh with lots of choice. Wine is served with every meal though I personally thought the quality was very poor and didn't drink it. The big let down for this hotel though is the restaurant itself. As we were part of a tour group, one of many, 40 of us were crammed onto 2 tables. This made eating and getting in and out of your chair very uncomfortable and downright dangerous as you were squeezing past people with plates of hot food and drink. The restaurant is very basic with bright lights and very loud when it's full. It didn't make for a pleasant dining experience and took the edge of the holiday. This is the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars.
The pool is lovely with plenty of sunbeds but you either need to take your own beach towels or hire them for a refundable €10. There are also lots of sunbeds available on the beach area. The sea is accessible but only via a jetty and steps.
The spa is recommended and we were given a free hour to enjoy there in the Jacuzzi, Steam room, Sauna and relaxation area. They also offer plenty of treatments. I had a hot stone massage which was wonderful, around €70. We took advantage of this on our last day, as our return to the airport wasn't until late afternoon.
On the whole this is a lovely hotel and if they could sort the restaurant and wine out it would definitely get 5 stars from me.

I recently returned from Pietrablu Resort & Spa, family with 2 children, first of all I want to say about the transfer from Bari to the hotel is very expensive, although the distance is 40km, another important aspect is the check-in at 5:00 p.m. . The rooms are ok, the food is tasty, although the breakfast is the same for 7 days, there is no vegan food, not even the basics: milk or something else, although we have an allergic child, who ate only fruits, some vegetables and drinks (cola , slot, Sprite). And what exceeded our expectations, the Sea, it says that the beach is sandy, but it is artificial, because entering the sea is almost impossible, rocks and very dangerous for both Adults and children, deep and big stones everywhere, mi - I cut my leg in stones. If you want a holiday at the sea, on the beach for children to play and swim is not a good choice, the hotel is quite secluded, you can't find anything nearby, no shops, you have to take everything you need with you, but this is not there is a problem, there is a bus that offers free services to go to Polignano a Mare, we went hoping to find a more accessible beach with a smoother entry into the water for our 3 and 5 year old children, but we did not find the whole area Puglia is rocky and Pietroasa, from Polignano a Mare we went to Monopoli by taxi to another beach, but that wasn't perfect either, at least the entrance is smoother and shallower and the stones are smaller. Swimming pools are also for children, entertainers, Mini club for children, shows for children and Adults are organized, but only Italian is spoken, I found a boy named Angel who helped us and spoke in English and he managed to pay attention to my child by speaking to him in English and after a good cry, our child also went on stage, I come with a recommendation for the hotel administration, speak English as little as possible at shows and mini children's club, announce the program in English, it is difficult for others who do not know Italian. Thank you, Angel, for being responsive and bringing smile and satisfaction to Luca! If there were more people like you, there wouldn't be such situations. In general, the vacation was ok, the hotel grounds are kept clean, the rooms are clean, the food is tasty, except that there is no vegan food, contests, shows are organized, but the sea is not suitable for the place, we went to Italy for swimming in the sea, the beach, children to have fun in the water and play in the sand, but we were disappointed.

Response from Sara Spedicato, Marketing at Pietrablu Resort & Spa - CDSHotels
Responded 3 Aug 2023
Dear Caterina, thank you for choosing Pietrablu Resort & Spa CDSHotels for your stay and leaving your review. We are happy to read that you appreciated the grounds of our holiday village and that you found its internal and external areas to be clean and well-kept with excellent service. Pietrablu, in fact, is the ideal place for the Guests who want to relax and try the tasty Apulian food, with its unique tastes and smells, or to have fun, thanks to the team of animation, that provide all our Guests, adults and children, a funny and amusing holiday. For those who want to visit the nearby city center, as you correctly said, it’s available a shuttle to/from Polignano a Mare, active every day until midnight, except Sundays. At the same time, we are sorry that other aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations and that you didn’t feel special. All our staff works hard to ensure all our Guests, Italians and foreigners, a pleasant and comfortable stay. Apulian sea is one of the most known and appreciated in the world and it saddens us that it did not meet with your approval. However, we suggest wearing sea shoes if the rocks are troublesome and reading the booking conditions correctly and carefully. Hoping to have you as our welcome Guest again in the future so that you can positively reevaluate the services that were not to your liking this time, we cordially greet you.

We loved this hotel.
The grounds are beautifully maintained and there are lots of paths to walk around.
With only 2 story buildings, there is a light, spacious, relaxed feeling.
The whole place was spotlessly clean, from the reception, restaurant, bar, pool area to the gardens and the coast "beach" area.
Most of the staff speak a bit of English and were friendly and usually smiling, with the odd exception! (There's always one!)
I don't speak Italian but learning a couple of key words will help and I find it adds to the entertainment and enjoyment of trip. The staff appreciate your efforts too.
Our room was lovely and cleaned everyday by a friendly cleaning team. There was enough space in the room, although the shower was a tad small for us. We were in a block of rooms right at the back of the hotel but we had a wonderful view of the gardens and we could even see the sea. (Room 112). There was water in the fridge on arrival and there was tea, coffee and a kettle.
We loved the food.
Lots of pasta, as you would expect and hope, but lots of other delicious choices too.
Grilled meat, fish and sausage, risotto, casseroles etc. Lots of salads, breads, hot and cold savouries, Ice cream, buns and cakes.
This hotel closes at the end of the season and was already winding down. The main big pool area, the theatre, downstairs restaurant and the snack bar were already closed but as there were not so many guests, there was still plenty of space for everyone. This wasn't an issue for us as the buffet restaurant, small pool and bar, which also served as the snack bar was open.
We had a singer and live music to dance to every night. He sang in various languages, mostly Italian, well you are in Italy, but there were a few English songs too.
We knew the hotel was out on its own, so we're not surprised by this but we had hired a car to get from the airport and then had it all week, so we were able to get out and about a bit. There was also lots of free parking at the hotel.
All in all we had a wonderful time, very relaxing and the weather was great. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I travelled with a group from the UK and stayed at the resort for a week. The room was squeaky clean and if anything towels and soap changed too often! My room was one block back from the bar but the music didn't bother me at night - it turned off by 11.30 anyway. The food, buffet style, was excellent - a good variation throughout the week, no main dish repeated and plenty choice between meats and fish plus lots of salads and delicious roast vegetables. Rocky beach on a little bay (swim shoes needed) with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. I didn't use the large swimming pool area but it looked perfect for families. The smaller pool was just about warm enough to swim in in early June. Staff were all excellent and friendly. Plenty of families in the resort as well as tour groups. Really impressed and highly recommend.

There is not much more we can say because "cjsinger2016" has already given a very accurate review of this hotel, but we will add a few words of our own.

We visited between 12-19 October knowing that the hotel was about to close for the season and as such anticipating that, partly due to the weather, some outdoor facilities would not be available. We expect this place to be incredibly lively and buzzing during the summer month but with that comes noise etc. and we preferred to visit out of season.

During our stay, except for a handful of families, the clientele was mainly over 60 (including ourselves), generally giving the resort a relaxed, quiet atmosphere.

There are a few loose pet bunnies on the grassy areas which are happy to be approached; beyond the restaurant there is an area with goats, geese and peacocks which we imagine are very popular with children. Also on the premises are two trulli. From the beach one can walk for about 20 minutes towards San Vito (turn right at the beach) or for longer towards Cala Fetente and beyond (turn left).

We would recommend car hire which will enable you to visit the many beautiful villages in the area, the archaeological sites, museums and castles. Excursions allowed us to stay away from the buffet at lunchtime as our waistline was rapidly expanding.

On the subject of food (one of us is Italian) I would like to say that it is exceptional, prepared with fresh ingredients, mainly very regional (Puglia food is incredible) and with plenty of choice including fish, molluscs and crustaceans. However, the chef also surprised us with a few international dishes that were incredibly good like Pad Thai, coconut curry and more. Thank you chef.

We found all staff courteous and helpful, but we would like to mention those that we got to know a little better and who made our stay that little extra special.
A big thank you to Gaetano, Caterina, Marika and Giuseppe in the restaurant, Sandro, Francesca and Dalida in the bar and DJ Alberto.

Our room was spotless and the reception staff was very polite.

We would definitely recommend this establishment.

Very mixed feelings about this review as we did have a great holiday but there was a good few negatives. I’ll start with the positives,

Pros:
The food was lovely, so much variety and my wife and daughter can be picky eaters.
Normal % beer being served unlike other all inclusive places I’ve been.
It was very very clean.
The grounds were beautiful.
I loved the pool near the main bar and beach area. Beautiful.
Rabbits roaming freely which my daughter loved.
Great air conditioning.
Great coffee.
Some of the staff were so friendly.
Free transport in to Polignano A Mare which was so handy.
Some of the animation activities are fun.

Cons:
The dining area did feel like a canteen. Some days it was chaos. Not overly relaxing.
English speaking is listed on the hotel’s website but it really depends who and where you are. Can be a bit difficult sometimes and treated as an annoyance. Asked for a drinks menu near the kids pool bar and there was nothing in English and they couldn’t speak English. Made it near impossible to order anything that I couldn’t point at.
Didn’t like the plastic cups for drinks.
The two pools at the back need updating ASAP.
Felt a bit like a holiday camp at times with cheesy animation activities. Also very repetitive.
One rude staff shouting at me in Italian when I can’t speak or read Italian when trying to get food.
No friendliness booking in or out.
No free transport on a Sunday and times of transport not clearly givento you.
Bar near kids pool closes for siesta everyday from 12.30 - 15.30. Having no drinks available there for 3 hours in an all inclusive is not acceptable in my opinion.
Didn’t see many variety of cocktails and even if there was the plastic cups would be too small to have one.
Breakfast finishing at 9

Again, this feels like a harsh review as we did have a great time but I do expect more from an All inclusive holiday.

The shuttle bus runs every hour=on the hour from hotel and 15 min past hour from Polignano. The stop is in the square with famous statue by the sea just over famous bridge from the centre . This square was being upgraded so if it is still shut you pick up the bus from the access parallel to the sea by this square
