Detailed Reviews
Thor B&b is such a lovely oasis from the hustle and bustle of Firenze. We stayed three nights and loved the quaint inn and its beautiful grounds. The rooms are comfortable and clean and Anna does an amazing job running the place. We did opt for a dinner one night (book two nights in advance). It was incredible. One of my favorite meals in Tuscany. The pool is a welcome treat from the warmer days. The breakfasts are nice- you get a list to check off what you want for the next days meal, which included some different homemade tortes and yoghurt and eggs. As many noted the road is a bit bumpy but we found that to be the case everywhere in the region! So get a 4 wheel drive and enjoy the peace. Finally, the staff was very kind and friendly to our kids (tweens/ young teens). Though there are many couples there on holiday so definitely bring kids who know how to be quiet and respect others enjoyment in an atmosphere like that.

Awesome B&B in Tuscany with great service. Anna was very friendly and was always looking to ensure we had the best trip. It was a very small and peaceful stay. The personalized morning breakfast was a real treat and the views from the pool are amazing.
Be aware that the road leading into the B&B is a declining unpaved road. This was the only unpleasant part about staying at the place.

Very nice B & B right below the hill town of Panzano. Difficult drive down a bumpy, rocky road but once you learn the road it is ok. Well worth the drive to experience a restful retreat surrounded by tall cypress trees. We had unit G for three nights and it was great, just as described to us. Breakfast was very good each morning and Anna even prepared a delicious dinner for us one evening. It was nice to sit around a great meal and meet people from other countries and cultures. Nice pool area that we even jumped in one warm afternoon to cool off. Great place to visit the surrounding hill towns for day trips. Also enjoyed dinner at Oltre Giardino and Vescovino. Sat outside and enjoyed fabulous sunsets while dining. If looking for a quiet place in Chianti to use as a home base for a few days, this is a great spot.

We have spent 10 days to two weeks each of the past four years at Fagiolari, which is located about 1 mile (1.6 kms) outside of Panzano in Chianti, in the midst of what is known as the “golden valley’. From the wonderful pool you look up and over the vineyards of Fontodi> a glorious view. Fagiolari is a relaxing place that is not to be missed.
Much has been made in various TripAdvisor reviews of the ‘road’ from town into the property. Many years ago it may have been a bit of a challenge but each year there are improvements to the point today where it really is not difficult (it surely is not the Autostrada however). What is peculiar is that it is the last half kilometer or so is paved! The drive into the place takes you right through vineyards and olive groves and, in the evening, one often sees local wildlife such as deer and even the odd wild boar, fox et cetera.
The B&B is clean, simple and well kept, with wonderful gardens surrounding the main house. The proprietress, Giulietta, has put 25 years into turning what was a derelict property into this oasis in rural Tuscany. The scenery is breathtaking and the hostess very knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions about the local area and providing assistance/suggestions on how to enjoy it. Fagiolari is a unique place that really deserves more than a day or two to appreciate. Even after our 4th visit we are still finding new places and experiences in the immediate area such that I would suggest staying at least 4-7 days so that you can relax and enjoy ‘rustica toscana’…., the real Italia.

I read the excellent reviews about Fagiolari and was really looking forward to our stay there. The property itself is beautiful and well-situated in the Chianti countryside but we ran into problems throughout our stay. I caught a vibe right away with Giulietta's short answers as she was showing our party of 13 to our rooms and giving us directives of what NOT to do on the property rather than suggesting ways for us to enjoy it. The road to get there is about 1km from the main road with lots of bumps and ruts--definitely a negative. Everything in the rooms is well-appointed, but almost more for decoration and not necessarily to make you feel more comfortable. We never even got a fresh set of towels (and we were there for 5 nights!). I also picked this place because all the rooms were advertised to have A/C, but our kids' room (Room L) definitely did not have it and it made for several sleepless nights, especially as the area was experiencing a heat wave at the time of our stay. We almost asked for some compensation for this but did not want to cause a fuss and make our stay more awkward. Our "adjoining" rooms (A&L) were truly not adjoining and did not have a door of its own but only a screen for privacy--another negative. I wish our hostess would have been more upfront about these limitations.
Breakfast was mediocre--lackluster coffer, bread, jam and yogurt. Nothing special. She kept her interaction with us to a minimum...except when she wanted to complain about how much noise our party apparently made the night before. It was actually another group that had caused the ruckus and I told her so. Giulietta should have checked her facts before running off with accusations. She also should have been a little more conciliatory when one of our party accidentally broke a part on the cot that was in one of the rooms. The cot was cheaply made and it folded in half while my niece was on it. Giulietta's retort was that the cot was not for sitting! Since when are you not supposed to sit on a bed?
All we wanted was a place to be able to kick back in the evenings with a lovely bottle of Chianti overlooking the beautiful countryside. With all of Giulietta's do's and dont's and lack of common area, it was hard to do that here.

For over twenty years I have been fortunate enough to have been able to spend time each summer in Tuscany, one of the gifts life has given me, much of it at rental properties in and around Panzano in Chianti, the most relaxing and beautiful place in "rustica Toscana" with wonderful restaurants, vistas to die for, and fabulous wine.
My wife and I have recently returned from a 12 day stay at Fagiolari. This is the second time in two years that we have taken at least part of what we have come to regard as our annual two weeks in “Italia”. Undoubtedly, Fagiolari is a special place that is not to be missed. Certainly, the 1.6 km of vineyard tractor road is a bit of a challenge that requires some care, but you come to find your way and this impediment is really ‘much ado about nothing’ as evidenced by the couple with the collector Ferrari who were able to make it in and out without damaging the car.
Once you reach the property, sited in the mist of the Castello dei Rampolla vineyard, you will find an agritourisimo with a very pleasant garden, nicely appointed bedrooms in the B&B with good quality linens. There is also a small cottage. The property and facilities are meticulously well maintained throughout. The rooms and common areas particularly clean. No flies or the like around the pool area or the property. Pool area is fabulous with memorable views of the surrounding valley and the vineyards. The whole property is very quiet, one hears very little other than the sound of the cicadas and the birds, which help to make this extraordinary place a truly restful experience.
Breakfast is included in the room rate and served communally in the dining area of the house and there is also space on an adjoining covered patio. There are cooking classes available and some opportunity to have an excellent evening meal onsite.
In the end, it is the small touches are what set this property apart from all others and they come from the proprietress, Giulietta Giovannoni, who has worked hard for over 25 years to restore the farmhouse and create the surrounding gardens. This labour of love continues for us all to enjoy.

All the negatives reviews below are certainly true as our Tempo Holidays "Highlights of Chianti" tour only lasted 17 hours instead of four days due to the atrocious behaviour and hospitality of owner/operator Guilietta
My sister and I were even fearful of her behaviour and treatment of her own guests when she has a profitable business in beautiful Tuscany. In no way should anyone book this tour/property. Tempo holidays should do more research with there ground operator and remove this tour, the reviews speak for themselves.

Since the late 1980’s my relatively new husband has been fortunate enough to have been able to spend time each summer around Panzano (in part due to his business). After our marriage 6 years ago and too much hearing about this marvelous part of the world, he brought me to the Golden Valley for a week at Fagiolari following a week of work in Rome.
We have just returned from our third wonderful visit to Fagiolari in the past 5 years, the last two for 12 to 14 days. It is with some reservation that I report that Fagiolari is a special place that is not to be missed. My reservation is simple and very selfish…. too many people will make it more difficult for us to return!
Much has been made about the 1.6 kilometers of vineyard tractor road. Reality is that it can be a bit of a challenge if you want to go fast and it is important to take some care, but you come to find your way and this impediment is really ‘much ado about nothing’. (with apologies to the folks on the other side of Panzano at Vignamaggio). Once you reach the property, sited in the midst of the “Golden Valley”, you will find an agritourisimo with nicely appointed bedrooms and pleasant common areas. As has been reported by most other reviewers, the property and facilities are painstakingly well maintained throughout. The rooms and common areas particularly clean. The pool area is wonderful with memorable views of the surrounding valley and the Fontodi vineyards. The whole property is very quiet and calming which help to make this extraordinary place a truly restful experience.
Breakfast is included in the room rate and served communally in the dining area of the house and there is also space on an adjoining covered patio. Espresso is available, but you have to ask. There are cooking classes’ onsite and some opportunity to have an excellent evening meal if you would rather not go into Panzano or one of the other nearby hill towns..
What sets this property apart is the proprietress, Giulietta Giovannoni. Giulietta has spent half of her life to create a bit of Heaven on earth. She acquired a wreck and then spent a number of years restoring a near ruin and developing what are now the fantastic contiguous gardens before opening this superb B&B with integrated cooking school just over a decade ago. We were surprised to read the comments about Giuletta in an earlier review as we have always found her to be helpful and most pleasant during our 3 visits/32 days of being @ Fagiolari in the past 5 years.

We spent a week at Fagiolari (1st week of August 2014): immediately upon our arrival, we felt uneasy, as if we weren't welcome. Instead of telling us the possibilities or things to do, she insisted on what NOT TO DO on the premises. She did not talk to us. We felt that her attitude made it difficult to relate to the other families.
The room was okay, although we were told it was a family room for 4, which it wasn't. Two bunk beds were put in the room which was quite small for the four of us. The boiler in the bathroom was a 30 liters, which means that you can shower for about... 2,5 minutes... for a family of four??? When I told her about this, she said: 'Just wait for warm water'. We had to wait for 45 minutes until the boiler was full and warm. Not good!
On the other hand: the place itself is really charming, the swimming pool was a succes for our kids and also the location is good. But we were used to a kind and friendly atmosphere in B&B's, which we really missed here.

Guiletta from Fagiolari does not deserve to have any guests stay at her Guest House – she has a most unfortunate manner and is extremely rude – her manner was appalling to our small group of 10 ladies who came to cook and stay at her guest house – everything was too much trouble and one was terrified of asking for anything – she treated us with such disdain and every person in the group was at the receiving end of rudeness and anger – her personality completely changed for the cooking lessons though and she gave good cooking lessons which is clearly her passion but looking after guests is most definitely not her passion – The accommodation is simple but good and the setting is beautiful - I hope that you find this review helpful in making your choice of where to stay in this area
