Our 10th and now our final visit
Just returned after a 14 night break with family
Standard of food got better after 9 days but at first was very mediocre No children’s food like there used to be so 4 grandchildren has the choice of pasta or chips each day
Still the same decor as our first visit 12 years ago when it was very dated so can imagine how it is now. Air con was intermittent in room and balcony door very temperamental
No use if main room so when Euro games on the only TV was by the bar (poss 40 inch) and refused to put big screen on in main room
Staff great on the bar and restaurant but when complained of noise after 00:30 to reception they weren’t interested, teen majorettes running a mock and a Croatian choir singing
Although the location is excellent the standards have dropped for a 4 star hotel. They have your money and that’s it
Safe in room charged at €30 per week is high for hire of a lock
5/10 maximum

The hotel as others have said needs a bit of a refresh, however it is very clean and all the staff work very hard to keep the place tidy and clean. Our room was cleaned daily, fresh towels and made beds. The air conditioning is centrally controlled and in the highest heat not very good at all. The air conditioning to comply with laws is turned off between 2am and 4am I believe but we found opening the balcony windows it wasn’t too bad. The reception were very good and organised two fans for our room which made things much more bearable at night especially as the lowest it got was 24 degrees .
The food was good plenty of choice and there were new dishes each lunchtime and dinner time. For fussy eaters (of which my 7 year old is one) I would say you may struggle but she always found something even if it was just chips.
My son is coeliac and the staff were lovely in showing him what he could have and supplying gluten free rolls and pastries at breakfast. There is a menu as you walk in of what gluten free dish they can make especially that day for example pizza or a pasta.
There was no air-con on in the restaurant when we stayed so we came out sweaty messes every time. This was a shame because we felt we couldn’t really enjoy the food as you found yourself grabbing something to eat quickly and getting out because it just got too hot for us.
The beach bar staff were lovely. If you are all inclusive you have access to hot drinks, juices, fizzy drinks, beer, wine, cocktails and local spirits from 10 am until 23;00hrs. If you want a premium cocktail like a mojito for example you get discount and only pay for the ingredients not included in the all inclusive package. The bar did run low a couple of times during our stay and they had run out of certain spirits and mixers most were replaced the next day. I thought this was very poor for an all inclusive resort.
The beach is shingle so if you have beach shoes I would take them as getting out you have to go up a slight incline and it’s quite uncomfortable.
The pools were great for our group and plenty of Sun loungers.
For a budget holiday I would say it was worth the money.
We personally wouldn’t stay at the hotel again mainly due to the poor air conditioning in both the rooms and the restaurants. If you can cope with the heat then you will be fine.
We did have a lovely stay and made memories with our family and extended family which will last forever.

Stayed here again last week in July, yes the hotel is a little dated décor wise but lets face it you only sleep in the room!
The pool area is lovely with plenty of sunbed and umbrellas, the filter strip around the pool got broken at a small section but was fixed straight away. For the amount of rooms I suppose the pool area could be said to be a little small however there is a second pool also and lets not forget you are right on the beach!
We stayed all inclusive, myself and my 18 year old son they should make the system a little less complex currently you have to have two cards, one green one blue, to get drinks one you leave the blue with the bar so you have your glass/drink the green card shows you are all inclusive so don't have to pay, no real biggy but am sure there are easier systems!!!!
Have always found the staff very helpful and friendly this time having not been back since before Covid the Head Waiter even remembered us, welcoming us and saying how much my son had grown so tall!
As with most hotels in the area food was okay varied and fresh, we did eat out a few times also but again not a criticism of the hotel food just our preference.
Location is perfect right on the beach front, a short walk and you are on the main strip where there are lots of other hotels bars and restaurants.
There is a Carrefour supermarket within a 10 minutes walk that has anything else you may need.
Having stayed in a couple other hotels locally, standard and food are very much of a muchness, have a budget stick to it and enjoy the sunshine and Sangria!

After reading the reviews before arriving, I was really worried that we would have a horrible stay, however I had an amazing stay at H top royal sun, the staff were friendly and helpful, we stayed all inclusive and the food choice was varied, very tasty and the signage for allergens was brilliant and they had a great gluten free choice. The location was spot on, right on the beach and you could take your all inclusive drinks to the beach, in a proper outdoor plastic cup no flimsy small cups. The entertainment was good for the evening, there was day time entertainment as well but we didn’t take part in the daytime so can’t comment on how good this was. The staff upgraded our room to sea view and allowed us to have a late checkout for a small cost very easily. We had a packed lunch made up on one of the days which was no trouble. The rooms are basic and a little dated but were cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. Will be staying again and I can’t wait.

+1
We have previously stayed at this hotel. But it has detoriated badly. The mattress are broken the decor is worn. The all inclusive option which we paid for is never made clear how it works. We were served tap water when asked! The first day we noticed bites but passed it off as mosquitos but it has become evident that these are bed bug bites after visiting the local chemist to get mosquito repellant! We reported this to reception but nothing was done. The food in the restaurant is cold, on a day salmon was undercooked and one of kids ended up with severe diahorrea the next day and dehydration. We have visited many countries and stayed at loads of hotels this by far has been the worst now. Sadly we will no longer visit Spain due to this experience. Hasta la vista there are many better places around the world for the money paid who offer much better experience and customer care. Nothing was ever done about the bed bugs so if you happen to stay here all the best watch out for the chiggers as well.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. As on your previous visits, we work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, are very sorry that on this occasion we fell short of your expectations. We hope that you and your family are all fully recovered. We take concerns such as yours very seriously indeed and immediately commissioned a complete inspection of your room where nothing was found. We understood that the offer to change you to an upgraded room with sea views was welcomed by you and accepted as compensation for any inconvenience. We have also taken note of your comments regarding your room will be assessing the situation as your comfort and satisfaction are our top priority. It is regrettable that you did not inform our team members of your concerns during your dining experience so that they could have been dealt with immediately. We are always happy to explain the all-inclusive option if requested, however, it has not changed since your last visit to our hotel in 2018. We hope that we may have the occasion to welcome you back. Best regards, Daniel Pérez, Manager

This hotel is definitely not 4 stars, it clearly hasn’t been updated since it was built. Our first problem was when we arrived and got to our room to find there was black mould all over the wall around the air con. If that wasn’t bad enough the room itself was very old with wallpaper falling off and stains on the bedsheets. Unsurprisingly we complained to reception about the mould and said we weren’t happy. They initially claimed they were fully booked and all rooms were the same! After repeating that we did not feel safe sleeping in a room with mould all over the wall, we were offered another room- when we inspected this one it had the same horrible decor with wallpaper falling off and also had mould just around the air conditioning, however as it was better than the previous room we felt we didn’t have much choice but to take it. Needless to say we didn’t turn the air con on and indefinitely would not have stayed there if air con was needed.
The whole hotel itself is a bit depressing, the bar area and interior is very old and dull, didn’t enjoy spending much time there.
The hotel is right on the beach which is great, sadly this also means very loud music blaring from the beach bar until midnight every night. Also the walls are very thin and people next door to us were extremely loud every night til about 2an- do not stay here unless you plan to stay awake late every night.
The food was variable- breakfast was often cold and not much variety, lunch was better with nice tapas dishes and good variety and I have to admit I did enjoy the dinner most nights as they made a lot of different dishes and had good choice.
Overall, we booked here hoping for a relaxed beach holiday. The bedroom and interior left us not wanting to spend much time at the hotel and the noise prevented any good sleep. The beachside location was lovely and the food overall was good which are the only good points about it. I guess for the price you pay you can’t expect much but be prepared for a 2 star hotel. I would not stay here again and would chose to pay more for somewhere a bit nicer.

We recently stayed at the htop Royal sun in Santa Susanna as a group of 6 doing the all inclusive. Our stay was very underwhelming upon arrival we got in very late our first night the place looked vacant we were hungry but sadly nothing in the town was open.
The breakfast rarely changed for our 7 days there the coffee was good but only available in the dining room at breakfast. Lunch and dinner were pretty hit or Miss it is all hot plate style sometimes fairly cold the dishes were very fish heavy and the plates were almost always dirty same with the drinking glasses. The workers in the buffet are what make this better always joking around and super friendly
The bar scene was very limited for the all inclusive you have to carry around a card to pay for all your drinks that the workers will swipe along with “cup cards” (both say to be returned at end of stay but staff were very confused when we handed them in) they do one cocktail of the day that gets dispensed from a little machine often getting dirt or bugs in your cup we’ve never seen it get cleaned. The entertainment is very limited the workers don’t seem very happy to be there.
The rooms were super dated Smokey wallpaper old curtains the walls were also paper thin you could hear everything happening in the room next to you the water in our bathroom sink and shower tan dark brown for the first 10 minutes assuming the room hasn’t been used in a while, flickering lights when turning on.
When asking for a late checkout we ended up getting several different answers our flight wasn’t leaving until the evening so we were hoping for a late checkout we asked at the start of our trip and we were told to wait and ask the day before we leave. We then waited like we were told and the day before we left we asked again and we’re told we waited too long and the can no longer give us a late checkout but then continued to give 3 other families late checkout, the lady as the front desk was very rude. The do have a luggage room which you can use free of charge and they do have lockers in the room you can pay to use. We noticed that the luggage room was often left unlocked so something to keep in mind if using
Overall it was a cheap stay and I’d say you get what you pay for if you’re looking for a bottom of the barrel stay with less than average food and service this is the place

I read so many bad reviews after I had booked and I was terrified but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Cons:
Yes room furniture and deco very very very dated.
Broken shelves in the wardrobe, loose handles on the bed side lockers, horrible looking yellow curtains.
Smell throughout of the hallways and rooms of dusty old musky smell.
No washing line to hang out washing or towels.
I’m a heavy sleeper but the noise from the surrounding strip and the noise of the train line right on the door step was a bit too much when you want to unwind and relax. Music and trains didn’t stop until about 00:30- 1am
Only spainish channels on the tv and no smart tv to connect your own devices.
Definitely is misleading as a 4 star hotel and probably people wouldn’t be as disappointed if it was a 2 star considering standards of the rooms.
Bread rolls were always hard.
Pros:
Location is right on the beach, it’s a 10min walk to the train station to Barcelona and only €11 return. There’s a box office across the road from the train station that sells tickets so if there’s a big que at the train station you can also buy them there and it’s much faster.
Staff are very nice and friendly.
Food was good. Always replenished and loads of choices, there was a lot of fish options but it was very good, in general it was hot but yes sometimes things that didn’t need to be replenished as fast might have gone warm but there was microwaves if you wished to heat anything up.
Rooms are cleaned every day if you wish, cleaners working so hard all day.
Sun beds on the beach only €3 if you’re staying in this hotel and €7 for those who are not.
Overall:
We had a lovely time, it was such good value for money because for us it was a cheap last minute getaway so it suited us.
The dated rooms and the noise was a big let down but we got over that and didn’t let anything ruin our holiday and we were happy that we did enjoy the food and the location and our overall stay.
Would I stay again? Yes (but only if I was looking for a cheapy get away for a few days not a 4 star stay)

Dear Alisonkw, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that you appreciated our prime location, friendly staff, and the variety of food options available. Our team works hard to ensure that our guests have a pleasant stay, and your kind words are truly appreciated. We acknowledge your concerns about the dated furniture and décor, as well as the noise from the surrounding area. We are aware that our facilities are in need of an update, and we have plans for a complete renovation in the near future. This is reflected in our current pricing, which corresponds to a hotel that has not yet renovated its facilities. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your stay. Regarding the TV channels, we offer cable and satellite television, but we understand that more international options would be appreciated by our guests. We will take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. We hope we can provide you with an improved stay in the future. Kind regards, Daniel Pérez, Manager

As per the managers previous response.. after initially complaining of bed bugs, nothing was done for 5 days!!! Well certainly not until the review was published on here and surprise surprise "another room was offered" after the review went live. 2 days before we checked out of our 16 day stay. That was no compensation intact quite a inconvenience. Lugging all our stuff 5 floors up.
No inspection was commissioned immediately. As for staying in 2018 we didn't undertake an all inclusive back then, as our kids had to go without basic necessity of water with there food!! So we purchased a all inclusive option this time round so we ended with tap water!! Which that even we had to beg and line up for! So the all inclusive was never explained contrary to what you may be trying to perceive to the reader..
So the bottom line, there will not be a third time for us, if we do ever visit Spain we certainly will NOT be staying at your hotel! Apart from the location nothing goes in your favour you have let us down previously with drinks with food and now with the poorly explained all inclusive option. Seems to be levels and where and what you can get.. but that will not concern us any longer.
