What a great place to stay. The owners were very accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. A great selection for breakfast including fruit, yogurt, cereals as well as the usual traditional breakfast or eggs benedict/royale.
There is no parking on site, however there is payable street parking. Alternatively if you want long stay then park on the train station which is a few minutes walk from the hotel, think it was about £4.80 for 24hrs.
The hotel is on the promenade within working distance to the town.
We had a sea view room, which was great, walking up and seeing the sea.
Beach is shingly/stoney but managed a dip in the sea. I would suggest buying beach shoes.
Loved the New Quay Arms which is on the quayside about a 10/15 min walk from the hotel, spent most afternoons soaking in the sun there :-)
Crazy golf is about 5/10min walk.
A short drive to Dawlish or Torquay/Brixham the other direction.
Would definitely recommend and I look forward to returning in the future.

We visited the Thornhill this weekend for two nights. The room was very nice, clean and tidy with a great view. Breakfast was really good. The staff are friendly and informative. Our room (number 5) had a separate bathroom just down the hall which worked well for us. Really appreciated the touches such as fresh towels and good quality biscuits in the room 😍

The Thornhill is really well situated for both the beach and the town centre. The rooms are light and airy - we had one with a sea view. The breakfasts were outstanding. My Eggs Benedict was beautifully cooked. Parking is in a Council car park about 5 mins walk away. It cost just under £5 to park all day. You can pay on an app, but we just renewed the ticket each morning. The Thornhill is also close to the railway station, ideal for trips elsewhere - the train line runs along the coast which is lovely.

I'm glad I trusted the reviews. We stayed in room 2 a spacious ground level rear facing room which had a fantastic large bed which was extremely comfortable and wet room style shower ensuite. The room is easily accessible from the entrance, breakfast room and lounge and was very quiet
Breakfast menu superb and they will still accommodate individual requests. So many choices! Omelette, full cooked, and various eggs benedict. Close to Eastcliffe car park £4.80 per 24 hours, to town centre, sea wall walks and a beautiful public garden. Very clean and very friendly hosts. Will definitely return.

We stayed at the Thornhill for a couple of nights during December. We had a warm welcome from Sandy who was very helpful with any questions regarding what to see in Teignmouth.

The hotel was completely COVID safe.

The room overlooked the sea front and as the weather was cold but clear, it was a treat to see and hear the waves from the cozy warmth of the hotel.

The bed was very comfy and the en-suite was sparkling clean and actually looked brand new.

Breakfast in the dining room was hearty with plenty of choices and with top ups of tea and coffee.

As the hotel is central to Teignmouth there are a good variety of shops and restaurants within walking distance and street parking.

I would definitely recommend the Thornhill for b&b accommodation if you are planning a visit to Teignmouth but book soon as I think Spring/Summer 2021 is gonna be a busy one!

My fourth stay at this lovely hotel. Love the position right on the seafront, so good to hear the waves. Staff are so wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Always very clean and rooms have everything you need. Breakfast is always freshly cooked to order. I love it that you get your key and then you are just left to enjoy your stay. Highly recommend! Parking up the hill at Eastcliff is around £9.60 for two days. Perfect for beach walks and access to the town.

Excellent location. The whole place is spotless. We had room 10 which was a little small but the sea view rooms were all booked. The bed was very comfy and pillows very good. Breakfast was good with a choice of cereals and fruit plus yogurt. Cooked breakfast was ordered and cooked fresh. Plenty of toast and tea/coffee.There is no parking on site, but parking opposite is metered but only for 2 hours during the day. After 6pm is free till next morning. We parked in a big car park just up the road. Was £4.90 for 24 hours. We were visiting friends who live in Teignmouth, so ideal. Would visit again.

Came here for a long weekend away with my partner and as soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Rooms were clean and comfy if not slightly basic but had all that was needed including kettle, hairdryer and good tv with many channels. Only complaint would be bathroom in our room was not en suite so had to walk down corridor for toilet and shower facilities.
After the first night we came back at approx 7.30pm on second night to be greeted by a man telling us our card had failed. We had agreed to pay on leaving so didnt put money in account hence why it declined payment.
After explaining this to the gentleman we agreed to pay and asked kindly if we could pay after our food. We were told no and he proceeded to wait outside our room until I came out after transferring money into account.
When booking we agreed price over phone and when it came to paying he charged more. I then disagreed and I was then asked to show proof (which I had via email) to which he apologised and took payment.
I completely understand that people have a way of ripping these places off and for the sake of business maybe they need payment before we leave, however if this is the case I advise ask for payment when customers arrive instead of bombarding them as they walk in from an evening out and then, in front of other customers demand payment like some criminal just because you may look different to other customers.
The place is lovely and have no complaints there but I think maybe some manners and decorum should be shown to the people paying for your rooms.
Feel slightly embarrassed to return.

Better if you ask the owner, she is VERY nice and kind. When I've been there I didn't notice any ground floor bedrooms, but you never know.
