Had a great weekend break. Food in the restaurant is exceptional.Menu is not overly large but doesn't need to be as every dish is a star attraction. Nice bed. Very friendly staff. Lovely town and great base to explore the North York Moors. Would thoroughly recommend. One tip though - book your time for dinner when booking your room -...

The hotel is in an excellent location and looks very picturesque. Dinner was excellent and the staff very helpful and pleasant. As it was a special treat we had one of the more expensive rooms at the front but were disappointed that some of the furnishings had definitely seen better days. The bathroom also could do with an update and...

We stayed for a night as a treat and booked the tasting Menu. The hotel itself is beautiful and obviously hard work to care for, some things were a little worse for wear and there was the odd cobweb on the ceiling but overall barely noticeable and didn't detract from the experience. The seating areas and bar were very cozy...

Arrived around 1330 the two of us and Dora our Springer Spaniel. A great place to bring your dog, lots of other couples had their pets with them. The bar staff brought water for our dog and we then ordered two portions of fish and chips. Highly recommended the batter was to die for..... I would go so far as...

Just returned from a one night stay at the Black Swan Hotel. Our deal was for dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel is right in the middle of the Market Place and very easy to find, free parking with a permit from the reception made it even better. The place is very cosy and downstairs very nice. Our room though...

We came for an evening and expected a lot from this place. Tasting menus, one vegetarian and one meaty, with a wine flight as well, was going to set us back about £150. For that amount I think it was a little disappointing. The whole meal took over three hours with service being attentive slow. It was busy but 25...

Excellent service and quality made another relaxing and fun night away. The welcome we (and our Labrador) are given is always brilliant, the rooms comfortable with everything we need and the food in the restaurant tasty. We really enjoyed the drinks (and desserts) in the bar and the breakfast in bed was the perfect way to end our stay.

We have just returned from a trip to the North East which included two nights at the delightful Black Swan. It is in an ideal position for the North Yorkshire Moors and not too far from the coast. The hotel is well run with lovely staff, however we were not the only ones who found the shower output/ heat unsatisfactory....

For a winter break for couples the Black Swan was a real treat from walking in the door to see the open fire creating a wonderfully welcoming ambience to the fantastic hearty Yorkshire breakfast. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful and the tasting menu was a myriad of different exciting dishes. We cannot wait to go...
