Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived at clearwater House. Saw the welcoming lights of the house as we drove down the drive. Bernie waiting with beaming smile and "Do you want a drink or something to eat after your journey? It's no trouble." So what makes it special ? Well it was 3:00am ! We'd phoned ahead to say the ferry had been cancelled and were told not worry everything would be O.K. Bernie explained that she couldn't go to bed until she was sure we had arrived safely and were comfortable and tucked up in bed in our room. "Breakfast will be when you get up. We'll hear you" And so it was, at 12:30 pm. There are no superlatives that haven't already been used in other reviews.. Just go there and experience Irish hospitality at it's best for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Out. Neatly laid tables with their linen and map of Ireland placemats used to plan our days out. In.Easily sanitised wood and glass Out.Bernies homemade treats Tea Coffee sugar bowl and fresh milk jug on the hospitality tray In. Hermetically sealed packets of biscuits and nibbles. Ready beverages in sealed sachets and single use disposable paper cups.and personal alcohol gel alongside the bottled water Out.The odd cosy evening round the kitchen tabel in front of the stove with a bottle of something In. Social isolation in the guest lounge in front of a roaring fire (with a bottle of something) Out. The warm hug and firm handshake on arrival In. Bernie weilding remote infra red thernometer and hand sanitiser. It doesn't matter. The welcome is as warm and genuine as ever and the hospitality still unsurpassed. Despite the added burden of staying virus proof they still find the time and energy to go the extra mile to make their guest cmfortable and at home. If Covid-19 ever takes hold here the human race is doomed. We'll be back somtime next year as usual God willing.

I was born and raised in the Loup and my family home is very local to the Clearwater Guesthouse. My immediate family is growing year on year with new babies and husbands in tow so my girlfriend, Hannah, and I were decamped to the Clearwater House on our return home for Christmas. Hannah and I are seasoned travellers but the hospitality of Bernie and Robert is absolutely unparalleled amongst everywhere we have stayed. The experience feels more like staying with family than in a B&B. We were amazed how even over Christmas Bernie and Robert bent over backwards to accommodate us and most recently my girlfriend's parents who visited from California. The room is spotless and cosy, the showers are hot and the breakfast is delicious and endless in portion. The Clearwater is now a home away from home for us now at Christmas and we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Thank you Bernie and Robert!

We've been to different B&B's all over Ireland but kept saying to each other: Bernie's was the best. She is so hospitable and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and more than enough. We were visiting friends at nighttime and they even offered to bring us there. Bernie also immediately took out pen and paper to write down our names so she wouldn't forget as we came from Hollland.

Re decorated, re furbished but nothing important has changed. Bernie and Rob are as welcoming as ever and even though they now have a swanky laminated Breakfast menu it really is nothing more than a basis for negotiation. They seem to have controlled the towel breeding problem to an extent. We only had three left at the end of the week, and there was even a space for our own toiletries alongside the range provided because they've put an extra shelf up in the bathroom! If Bernie and Rob can't provide it, from an occasional lift into town to your favourite yoghurt at breakfast, you don't need it. In fact yoiu don't need anything at Clearwater. Just chill out and let time pass, all too quickly.

One of the best B&B’s I’ve stayed in, very hospitable & friendly owners Bernie & Robert look after all your needs, cup of tea & biscuits on arrival. Rooms are spacious, very clean & well equipped with tv, coffee/tea making, will definitely stay here. Lovely quiet area with ample off road parking 👍

We stayed here for 2 nights in late August/2019. The house is wonderful and the accommodations were terrific. We had a large two room plus en suite place. There was a large sitting room for guests plus a separate dinning room. The hosts, Bernie and Robert, were super and would provide anything you asked for, and went out of their way to meet our needs. I would not hesitate to recommend this B & B and would definitely return if in the area again.

You would have a hard time finding hosts as warm and welcoming as Bernie and Robert! They were ready to go out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Be prepared to eat your fill at breakfast! We also found Clearwater House to be the perfect base from which to explore. The nearby town of Magherafelt was only minutes away and restaurants were easy to find. Many thanks to Bernie and Robert for a truly memorable stay! Highly recommended!

Our hosts, Bernie and Robert, couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly and the en-suite room was large and comfortable. Clearwater House is very conveniently located near to Lough Neagh with the majestic scenery of the Sperrin Mountains nearby. Bernie recommended an excellent bar/restaurant in Magherafelt for dinner a short drive away and breakfast was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this venue to visitors to Northern Ireland.

I would like to thank and highly recommend Bernie and Robert’s place if you are looking for a B&B in the Magherafelt, Northern Ireland area. The premises, rooms, breakfast and hospitality provided were awesome. Nothing was to difficult for either Bernie or Robert and when we left Bernie provided us with a snack pack to tide us over on our next travel. Wendy from NZ.
