We were attending an event a few weeks ago in the beautiful Homeplace centre in Bellaghy which we loved. Staying with Geraldine and Eugene was pure magic. Their home is a relaxed yet incredibly thoughtful homage to Seamus Heaney, Irish literature and art. Their hospitality was warm, good humoured and kind. Breakfast was delicious. We can't imagine staying anywhere else...

We ended up in Magherafelt for the sole purpose of visiting the Seamus Heaney Homeplace, the places mentioned in his poetry and to visit his grave. We booked Laurel Villa for the night, as it's near the Homeplace by car. What a find. Hosts Eugene and Geraldine are marvellous people who couldn't do enough for us. They are devoted to...

Having spent 2 nights at Laurel Villa recently while away on business in Magherafelt I rate it as an excellent place to stay. First and foremost I received a very warm welcome from the extremely helpful and friendly hosts. The house itself is most pleasant. It's very elegant offering accommodation in beautifully quaint rooms. The relaxed surroundings and comfortable bed...

Came with my dad and sister and found Laurel Villa. It's close to one of our cousins. We liked Laurel Villa a lot. The owners are very nice and so are the rooms. If I could go back and visit I would totally do it. I'm thankful for the Laurel Villa and the things they do to make sure the...

A very friendly welcome, beautifully furnished and comfortable bedroom, and a fine breakfast to start off a busy day exploring South Derry - host Gerardine's breakfast scones a real treat. And strongly recommend Eugene's literary and historical tour of the area, and a visit to the new Heaney museum in the nearby village of Bellaghy.

One of the friendliest and most pleasant small hotel we have ever visited in Britain.he place is steeped in Ireland's extremely rich literary culture, but especially in the poetry of Seamus Heaney, on which its manager Eugene and Gerardine Keilt are experts. They also run unique tours about Heaney's life. But you can enjoy this place whether you like poetry...

Laurel Villa Guest house had all that I had hoped for in an Irish B&B; A warm welcome, humorous, entertaining talk, quiet, comfortable rooms and an excellent breakfast (including, what must be Gerardine’s signature dish, the freshest and most extensive fruit salad I have ever tasted). For all these reasons I strongly recommend Laurel Villas as a place to stay...

Came to Laurel Villa in June and loved it. There aren't enough words to describe how cool this place is. They are incredibly nice people who keep the place very well maintained. Not only were they nice but also helpful to my family. Plus. Their food is good. Thankful for a place like Laurel Villa

This is a beautifully restored Victorian house on the Main Street which exudes old world charm and has wonderful period furnishings in the opulent bedrooms. If you like poetry and particularly that of Seamus Heaney then you will be in heaven with what you see around you on the walls. The full Irish breakfast was perfect in every detail and...

We visited Magherafelt to research my late mother's family; my cousin lives there and I have others in the area. The guesthouse is positioned on a main road but set back to allow parking in front. We had a front bedroom which overlooked a church on the other side of the street. Despite the busy road the room was not...
