Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful, newly renovated, peaceful and comfortable location. It is decorated beautifully. It is right on the water near the busy fishing harbor. Heather welcomed us and supported us well. The breakfast was nice and we enjoyed our "home for a night".

We only stayed one night and it was fabulous! Would like to go back and stay longer. Great breakfast with French press coffee, meats and cheeses, yogurts, cereals and pastries/toast. Spotless rooms including whisky. Wonderful shower with amenities. Easy walk to ferry and train station. Very friendly hosts and staff.

This lovely small guesthouse is as warm and delightful as you could wish for. It overlooks the harbour with fine views which you can admire from the wee cosy guests’ lounge next to the breakfast room. The Continental breakfast isn’t just croissants and coffee, but is a lavish buffet you help yourself to. Your hosts go above and beyond expectations to make your stay memorable, and we would have loved to spend more than just the one night. Everywhere spotlessly clean and well maintained and the comfiest of beds much appreciated. Definitely recommended. There are steep steps up to the front door which the arthritic one of us could just manage but you might need to check beforehand if you have mobility issues.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Moorings and would recommend it to anyone! We stayed at several B&Bs during out time in Europe and this was the best hands down! There are so many little touches that made it wonderful - comfortable beds, a lovely sitting area, FRENCH PRESS COFFEE, a wee bit of whiskey in our room for a nightcap and so much more. The breakfast was wonderful and the furnishings were lovely. The only negative thing I can say is that I wish we had been able to stay longer. We HIGHLY recommend this spot and would love to go back some day.

This was a gem of a find. I stayed the night before an early boat to Eigg and I stayed the night I arrived back in Mallaig. The guest house is immaculately kept and beautifully furnished. The Continental breakfast was excellent and the staff extremely helpful. It’s also very reasonably priced. I can’t recommend it highly enough. If you’re going to Mallaig and need accommodation you won’t regret going to the Moorings. It’s also very close to the ferry terminal, several excellent restaurants and a fish and chip shop. There’s also good parking nearby.

Everything about our six night stay was excellent from Heather’s warm welcome when we arrived through to the goodbyes when we left. Our room looked across the harbour to the Small Isles and it was spacious, clean, comfortable and attractively decorated. The small decanter of whisky was much appreciated, as was the sun lounge downstairs where we could sit during the day or evening admiring the view and refreshed by a good supply of beverages. The continental breakfast had a fine variety of fresh foods and fully sustained us for our trips to the islands, and to Morar Sands. Heather and her assistants could not have been more obliging throughout our stay. It is clear that she is determined to maintain her very high standards and to provide everything that her guests need. The Moorings boasts an excellent location, not only because of the view but also because it is so close to the station and to the ferry quays.
