Normally I prefer exploring new places rather then returning to places I’ve already been but this stay was my third time here.
I loved it the first time (dec 2020) and the service and the quality of the rooms have improved every time. So has the food. The view is astonishing and the game park is great if you want to see many animals in only a few couples of hours.
The relaxed and somewhat simple approach is enjoyable rather than lacking. The bathrooms are well maintained and the place uses rain water and solar panels as resources. Wifi is ok by the lobby/restaurant. I’ve stayed both in a room and two different cottages. Both which were nice.
I recommend Rwakobo Rock if you want to be close to nature and just be, and stay comfortable.
This time I drove from Kampala around 3pm to get in time for dinner at Rwakobo rock in the evening. Game drive the next morning and a bike tour in the afternoon and returned to Kampala after a pleasant breakfast the 3rd day.

This lodge is undoubtedly in a fantastic location. Antelopes often come by the breakfast table. The distance to the gate is completely acceptable and offers a first impression (zebras, Anchole cattle). A morning walk in the national park with a ranger ($20) is particularly recommended. You walk through the grounds between zebras and giraffes.

Rwakobo rock is a lovely place to relax where you can enjoy the sunset from the top of the rock whilst sipping a cold beer. We stayed in zebra cottage: a very spacious and nicely decorated room with a warm shower; we particularly appreciated that the USB-charging points and the bedside tables were inside the mosquito nets. There are plenty of cultural and sporting activities on offer as well as a swimming pool. We decided to do a bike ride around the National Park (beware the $30 fee for bringing a bike into the park is PER PERSON!). Although we are told that there were the plenty of animals outside the park (and we certainly saw many on the way to the lodge and IN the lodge), we chose to do the ride inside the park to see the giraffes up close. The ride is not overly challenging but there are a few long steep hills and the knee of a member of our party gave up towards the end. Very kindly, Edwin, the staff from Rwakobo lodge who was looking after us in case of flat tyres and other bike problems, organised for a car to come and pick up that person and her bike inside the National Park (!). The food was fine and there was a choice of 3 main courses. We had been to the National Park a few times as a day trip from Kampala but had never slept over: there is so much on offer at Rwakobo Lodge that we will certainly come back. There was wifi and many teenagers were certainly using that facility, glued to their screens, but we had connectivity issues.

Beautiful site atop a rocky hill, with numerous cottages and a larger building with several independent rooms. I cannot speak for the cottages, as we stayed in one of these rooms (Hornbill), and I do not recommend it. Quite a contrast after the beautiful cottages we had during our 13-days safari. Rooms 2 and 3 have only one window at the front, next to the door: it is extremely dark and smells of dampness.
Lovely dining pavilion and nice pool with a view of the park’s edge. The food is good but not extraordinary. However, the service leaves much to be desired: the predominantly male staff seem more interested in chatting among themselves or with the guides than serving us. Being greeted by a manager who says his most important New Year’s wish, apart from health, is money... yet we had to get up during meals to order every time we wanted a glass of wine! And at check-out, he reminded us that he hopes for money… inappropriate and awkward. Especially since a generous tip was absolutely not deserved, at least during our stay.

I can not comment on the cottages as we were in one of these rooms (hornbill) and I do not recommend it. The room is small and there is very little storage in the bedroom and bathroom, not even a worthy shelf to put our kit near the sink. Quite a clash after the beautiful cottages we had during our 13-day safari. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have only one window at the front, next to the door: it is extremely dark and smells of moisture. It was a last minute plan to visit Lake Mburo NP and I was delighted that my tour company, Beyond Frontiers, got me a reservation at this marvelous lodge. I loved every minute from checking in to my lovely cabana, to lunch, to pool, to great game drive to dinner. Linus, Nathaniel, Daniel, Petra and everyone were just terrific. I am a fussy healthy eater and they went to great lengths to make sure I had veggies salads and grits as well as delicious fish and an over the top beef filet mignon from the gorgeous local cattle. I would come back in a heartbeat!!

Our family of four stayed in Mongoose Cottage and had plenty of space for all our luggage as well as the two additional beds for the kids. The shower had plenty of hot water and we were provided with 4 towels (which was noted because many places we have stayed at with the children lately have only provided two which is very inconvenient). The lodge has a great pool, lots of puzzles and games for kids and adults, incredible food that was catered to my special needs including a chocolate gateau (gluten and dairy free), and very friendly and helpful staff. The evening campfires were always appreciated as well as the huge and delicious packed lunch that we took for our game drive and boat tour one day. There is a playground for the kids and climbing the rock is something the whole family enjoyed for sundown. I can't think of anything I would change!

The lodge sits close to Lake Mburo National Park, Nshara gate. Each lodge is unseen by other lodges, with a sitting area on a porch. The hot walk-in shower refreshes after a day exploring the national park with a pool and its glorious sunset view. The lounge area offers a sitting area, charging points, and open air covered dining with sunset views. A separate picnic, game, congregation area is separate and near the pool. Service is impeccable with Teddy Tike, Claire, Boaz, Petra, and Daniel. The tenderloin was cooked medium rare to perfection and the coq au vin tender and delicious. The appetizer of eggplant grilled with tomato and cheese melted in my mouth. Enjoy the community tours and walking safari.

This is the only lodge during our 7-night safari tour that was a letdown. The lodge feels like it’s run by an corporate American bean counter. All the other lodges exuded warmth, hospitality and exceeded our expectations. The staff here felt uninterested, disengaged and lacked the usual Ugandan warmth. The food was lackluster, lacking in flavor, selection and portion size. We did enjoy the stunning views of the safari plains from the unique standalone rooms, thoughtfully designed although the bedding was like sandpaper.

Stayed here for one night at the end of a tour which also included a stay in Turaco treetops that was also designed by the late owner. Based on location (the view) staff, food and wifi, I would rate this just the best of the places I stayed in. My wife and I sat up and watched the sunset and then had an excellent meal. I thought the staff were excellent and enjoyed talking to the current manager was very visible.

This lodge was one of our favorites on our safari. The staff are very friendly and the food on offer is presented on a board - saves annoying repetitions and questions, great idea! The dinner was particularly delicious and our highlight was the passion fruit cake with meringue. Our hut was very spacious, with a large shower. The view of the park, with hammocks, was of course sensational. The entrance to Mburo NP is not far away. On the game walk before breakfast we walked with a herd of giraffes and saw two hyenas. Beautiful!!!

It’s around 200+km it took us 6 hours as we stopped for lunch at the Equator and we allowed for traffic at Kampala as well as accidents and road blocks.

No I am not. I am in the Netherlands. Do you want to make a reservation for later in a vacation?
I can send you the name and number from a very good guide! He is good, nice and knows a lot of Uganda.
there is an outside pit toilet and solar heated shower, and the tent is big enough to stand in and has two beds with sheets etc and a small table. There are two chairs outside under the shade with a view of the bush. there is a paraffin light and they are a short walk from the main area , so you get all the use of the great lodge for a cheaper price.
We run entirely on solar therefore there are no charging facilities in the rooms, however we have central charging station in the main dining area. This will allow you to charge your phones, cameras, laptops etc...
There are more places to choose from in the Lake Mburo National Park area.
