Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped by here to grab lunch. The ambience is relaxing and I like the beach setup. My gf and I asked one of the staff at the café to switch out the two beach bean bags because somebody sat on it and it was saggy. The guy didn't wanted to. We then looked through many pages of the menu. I guessed he wasn't patient enough so he left us a note pad to write down our orders and back to his stations checking his phone. We then asked another staff to swap out the bean bags which they did. We ordered yellow curry chicken with rice. Curry was a bit sweet. Then we got the thick noodle stir fried vegetables. It was okay. Nothing special. The coconut smoothie was pretty bland. All in all the priced came to 270 bahts.

We enjoyed a good dinner on the white soft sand beach. The Thai food was pretty good even for Thai tongues. Service was fast and friendly.

Prices have been very moderate. Specially good wine at normal Thai prices.

The sad point was it closes at only 9 pm.

Bungalows very nice and very close to a nice beach filled with restaurants and life.
The Resort have some old walkways made of wood, witch is very charming but could use some renovation with loose wood and rusty nails sticking out. I give 4 stars because of location and friendly personal.

This place is quite simply disappointing. Old, and run down. Breakfast is a bit of rice, toast and bad tea and coffee. Staff don’t speak English, and don’t care at all. You can’t even get a beach towel. There is no room service as mentioned on their site. The walkways are falling to pieces as others have mentioned and it is quite frankly dangerous. After walking around and exploring on a scooter this beautiful island has many better options

First visit to Koh Samet and feel very lucky to have chosen this resort- in the middle of everything but yet situated on the beach.. room clean and well serviced. Staff in the dining room good and we got very lucky as one guy became ‘our man on site’ and was more than helpful with my husband who needed some assistance with steps etc. we will return and perhaps upgrade to a delux room which looked amazing

We hoped to have a relaxing time in Thailand at the end of a hectic tour of Europe. When booking we made sure that the resort catered for the quiet relaxed feel rather than the party boy set. We were assured that they did not welcome groups out for drinking binges.

What a disappointment it was when a bunch of louts arrived and started partying on their verandah in the afternoon, and it never stopped. Constantly wakened from people running around the resort and yelling. At one stage I awoke to find somebody had decided to set themselves up on my verandah. With no interconnecting door, there was no way to talk to my wife and son to reassure them.

In the morning we exchanged war stories. The resort refused to evict the party boys who had spoiled our first night in Thailand, so we chose not to stay for the second night we had booked.

No idea how the rooms compare to others in Koh Samet, but I was very disappointed by the bathrooms (dark, dirty, almost no water pressure). Can't recommend this place to anybody.

Really good location and the bungalow was great. Clean, comfy bed, good shower and a nice little porch. Housekeeping did a great job and for the price paid we were very happy with our stay. Would recommend.

Not sure why this place is getting bad reviews?? I've stayed here twice and have just returned from a lovely 3 night trip with family and friends, the staff here are very nice and were helpful when any problems come up ( loud air con in room 23, moved to a new room with no problems and lots of apologies )
It's a nice resort if you have children and the location is ideal as its not too close to the pumping house music bars! But just a few mins walk to the restaurants, the food at the resort was nice and the rooms are a little small but all your basics are there so I find it good value for money, many people will say its expensive at 3000bht a night but there are resorts on this island that are a lot more expensive and as not as nice, great location for the little town at the back too, all in all a great little place where the staff were happy to look after us and were sad to see us go!

Room Tip: Avoid the super loud air con in room 23, sounds like plane taking off!

I really enjoyed my stay at Tonsak Resort, i was a little worried beforehand because as usual, i base a lot on where i stay on other people's reviews and Tonsak has recieved a mixed bag, however its a lovely little resort!! What you have to remember is you are booking a small bungalow with basic facilities because it is the location you are really going for!! Having said that, the VIP room was clean, provided a/c, a fridge, complimentary water, tv, big bed and a shower, really, what else do you need when booking an island getaway!! The staff i encountered were friendly and helpful and the room was always nice and clean when we returned from the beach. Only 2 minor things to change if i could, a safety deposit box would be a nice addition and the shower water/drain wasnt the most pleasent smelling but nothing to complain about! Oh, i guess a mozzie net would be a little luxury in the VIP room!!! We didnt try the restaurant but there are so many places to eat, you are spoilt for choice! I guess the ultimate compliment i can give Tonsak is that i plan to return in April and bring the girlfriends parents along too, i wouldnt risk the loss of face if i didnt like the place!!!
