Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent some very nice days at Hotel Butler. The hosts are very attentive, accomodating and kind. Room was surprisingly large but best feature was the generous and delicious breakfast. The breakfast included not only the usual bread, cheese, sausage, all kind of fresh made eggs and sweet dishes but also very delicious little pots and glasses with different sorts of yoghurts, creams, pudding and fruits. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider to come back for a future trip to Brugge and other nearby cities.

basically it is a motel, pitched next to a very busy and noisy road. Didn't figure out what made this hotel a boutique, and may be we were desperately unlucky, but the room was very hot, and with no air conditioning, we had to keep the window open, which gave a very little chance to have any sleep - the noise from the road was too much. If the description of the hotel was accurate, I would give a higher score and wouldn't mind to pay more. Price - service were fine.

Hello, Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy our family boutique hotel. It's not because we are besides a road that we're automatically a motel ( which doesn't exist in Belgium ). Boutique hotel is because we are a family run, cosy decorated and joyfull hotel. Thanks anyway for your stay and nice to hear we have a good price-service. Kind regards, Bart Degroote.

It was our third stay at this hotel and our former review is still as valid. Fact remains that the room could do with a mat for the bath ( anti-slip) and a bit of a desk ( a small folding table if there is not enough space) to work on the computer. The welcome is friendly, professional, sincere. The breakfast is still varied, fresh and abundant. The busy main road has become even noisier than it was already, but that is not the owners' fault. It might be an idea to provide earplugs in the front rooms. Let that not stop you coming here! It's value for money this place!

Thanks very much for your second stay and review. There are anti-slip bath mats in the bathroom in the small closet ( probably missed it ) and we have rooms with and without desks. You may always ask ! Nice to hear you enjoyed the breakfast and yes there is nothing we can do about the road ( sadly ). Thanks. Bart and isabelle.

I stayed here and wasn't very pleased with the whole atmosphere of the hotel. We were warned, to keep the rooms very tidy, so I felt like living there was more stressful than staying at my own place. When I wrote a negative review for them, they replied by throwing in public, how I had a fight with my boyfriend and lost a competition while I stayed there. Of course it's very scary for a hotel to have such personal information to begin with, but to put them out in public must have been the least professonal thing I have ever seen. Instead of trying to change my negative opinion on their hotel, they shove every responsibility away and publicly tried to shame me. That's not how you should treat paying costumers, who weren't satisfied. I'm truly shocked.

Although it was only one night, we really enjoyed our stay. A warm welcome in a superclean and safe hotel awaited us. The room was specious and offered all you could want for, except a work desk and an anti-slip mat in the bath. Breakfast is rich with all fresh produce. Th elady even went out of her way to make us some bacon with a scrambled egg. There is plenty of parking in the front and at the back. It's sure is a place to return to!

The hosts were fantastic, friendly and helpful, providing information on where to eat, parking in Bruges, things to see and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was immaculate, comfortable and clean with all the amenities you need. The breakfasts were amazing and highly recommended.

Fantastic. Breakfast was unreal.. Fresh fruits yoghurt Meats breads and cooked pancake eggs and bacon. Bart and Isobel very welcoming and helpful. They helped us with a map of the area and where to park in Bruges. We took a canal trip which was relaxing.

Let’s start from the beginning- we were met with a lovely welcome. Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished and immaculately clean. Our host provided us with excellent knowledge of the city. Breakfast, which incidentally, our host offered to start 10 mins earlier when she heard of our onward journey, was outstanding! Lots of choice and fresh, beautifully prepared and presented food. The attention to detail here is second to none. We can honestly say that this is the best small hotel we have ever stayed in. Thank you to our lovely hosts.

Bart and Isabelle will ensure your visit to Hotel Butler is relaxing, comfortable and memorable. The rooms are spacious, pleasant and quiet, features you will appreciate after touring nearby Bruges and Belgium's countryside. Hotel Butler's breakfast spread is ample and delicious plus Bart the Chef makes wonderful eggs. Isabelle, the host and eclectic decorator (see attached photos of the dining room) of the hotel has a wealth of local information to share with their guests. I highly recommend considering Hotel Butler on your next visit to Bruges.
