We fell in love immediately walking up to this place. Very good location, friendly staff and beautiful landscape. Perfect for our time on Paros and added to our experience on this lovely island. The moonflowers and animals were an added bonus.

My wife and I just returned home from a four week holiday travelling throughout Greece and without a doubt Sofia and Manoli , owners of Pension Sofia in Parikia, on the island of Paros, were the best in terms of hospitality and warmth. We only stayed one night in Paros and in such a short time we felt so welcomed into their space. The room was very clean and we enjoyed our balconey looking out to the harbour and at the back a spacious terrace where we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Manoli shows such pride in his beautiful garden and Sofia is such a gracious host. We appreciated Manoli's drive to the ferry in the morning. As far as value for dollar, I don't think you can do any better than Pension Sofia. We enjoyed our visit to Greece and one of our lasting impressions was the kindness and care of these two hosts who made us feel so "at home".

I stayed at Pension Sofia both in September and October of this year (in between my visits I made it to Mykonos and Tinos). This place was by far the best place to stay of any other in Greece, and my favourite place to stay during my 7 week long trip through Europe. The room was comfortable, with A/C, a TV, a balcony with a table and chairs (with either a mountain view or a partial sea view, or a little of both), a good sized mini fridge, and a private bathroom. Everything was so clean, and bright, and new. Sofia and Manolis are extremely welcoming, and are genuinely focused on making everyone's stay wonderful. They also have a few exceptionally well mannered pets (cats and a dog), and a manicured garden that is overflowing with rich colours. Even in October everything was in bloom. Breakfast can be taken in the garden, at anyone of several tables peppered throughout the garden. If you are determined to get an ocean view room, booking ahead appears to be required. I found this place online here on this forum, but did not make any reservations. Instead I went to the Tourism Office when I landed at Paros, and asked them to call and book me a room. I was lucky to get an ocean view room without a reservation, but that seems to be rare. The rate was great, and the service was amazing.

This place is really only a couple of block away from the port, and from the larger shopping area, although the island of Paros, and town of Parikia itself is not huge. The beach is a block away, and there are so several restaurants and cafes within a 2 block radius, and even more as you walk closer to the port area in town. At night you can walk though the older part of town with all the whitewashed buildings, and find lots of shops to peruse. Everything was opened until at least 9 pm, and I think even later. Between 3 pm and 6 pm everything seems to slow down, and many shops close for lunch. There are really beautiful quaint churches to see all over town as well, with the most oppulent one in Parikia being the Church of 100 Doors.

In September and October when I was in Paros everything was very quiet, which is exactly what I was looking for. Those looking for lots of partying and bars might need to look elsewhere, at least at this time of the year.

I am conflicted about my stay here.

On the plus side: very beautiful property. Very close to the Port of Parikia. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Great price. Clean room. Loved the balcony.

One the minus side: overall I found the customer service somewhat disorganized, poor, and lacking warmth. My sister had weird issues upon check-in: her reservation (the host showed no record of her reservation upon arrival?), the room size she paid for was not the room she got, and her room had no power at all when she checked in. We had to search for and flag down a man (presumably the host's husband?) in order to flip the breaker to get the power to come back on.

There are no signs with information on how things in the room work (such as the power/light switch, the AC, and the shower, which were quite tricky - at least for me and the guest across the hall, too) and the hostess became quite hostile when she had to come to my room one night at 10pm to help me with the AC to get it to work. At that moment, I wanted to pack up and leave and go to another hotel.

It seemed as if something was wrong (outside of the B&B) that was affecting her ability to be happy, warm, and welcoming with her guests.
I also got the distinct feeling (from older reviews) that this accommodation used to be a lot more customer-friendly in their offerings (such as breakfast, and rides to/from the port, etc) and now, once you check in, you are basically on your own. I usually have such wonderful connections with my hosts, and this experience just left me feeling very flat, cold, and a bit sad. I avoided her as much as possible after the AC incident because I was so uncomfortable around her.

In summary, with improvements to customer service, Pension Sofia could be such a heavenly place to stay. However, as it is, while I would go back to Paros in a heartbeat, I would definitely choose another accommodation for my stay. I have enjoyed so many amazing and kind hosts around the world (including other Greek islands), but this experience definitely fell short, and sadly, I would not recommend this accommodation experience for your stay in Paros.

When preparing the trip of my daughter and I, I have tried to book two nights directly on this pension website this summer but never received any confirmation. Without any confirmation I booked somewhere else. The night before the initial date, staying at another pension in another island, I received a call of the pension. I have made very clear that I never got any confirmation of my booking but the pension nevertheless charged me. I have contacted the online booking service the pension uses and no one answered my mail. You will agree that it doesn't make any sens for us to book, and pay, several rooms at different places the same time. Should I have received an email confirmation or any written communication I would have made may arrangements differently. Despite several calls and emails with the Sofia owner I was fully charged. I have no idea what went wrong in the process, all i can say is be careful. For my own part I think it is a shame.

My partner and I spent 2 nights in Parikia, the main town of Paros a couple of weeks ago. Sofia Pension is without a doubt one of the best and most beautiful places I have stayed in Greece, or anywhere. Sofia and Manoli are excellent hosts and clearly take pride in their hotel and amazing gardens which have to be seen to be believed. The hotel was clean, our room spacious with a sea-view balcony. The location was ideal for us as you are 5 mins walk from the main beach road, with many tavernas and livadi beach. However, it is located in a peaceful side-street so you avoid the bustle of the town. Manoli kindly picked us up and returned us to the port in his car. I would recommend contacting the hotel over the internet as we were given an internet rate which was excellent value for money. It really was a wonderful place.

My wife Jenny and I booked our holiday in the Greece Islands of Paros. We intended to go firstly to Paros and then "island hop". We arrived in Athens called the hotel (that we had booked on the internet) . We were met at Paros port by Manoli and taken to the hotel. The hotel was wonderful, a beautiful oasis just off the sea front. The hotel is family run by Sofia and Manoli helped by there young daughter Evita who were absolutely charming. Every aspect of the hotel was perfect, clean efficient family atmosphere. Another charming feature of the hotel is its lovely garden one of the best we have seen in Greece, beautiful flowers and olive trees were we could have our breakfast in one of the many the little nooks provided. We were so taken with the hotel and island that decided not to "island hop" We went on day trips to other islands and visited the beautiful little villages around the island. Truly the best holiday we have ever taken thanks to the family of Sofia, Manoli and Evita (also many pets owned by Evita including her dog Nala).

I recently stayed at Pension Sofia during my five-week trip to Greece. I phoned ahead and received a very good price, due to it being off-season (mid-October). Manuel, the owner, met the ferry, even though it was well after midnight!
The hotel was about two blocks from the ocean, and several blocks from the ferry dock. The neighborhood is safe and well-lit in the evening.
The owners, Manuel and Sofia, who live on-site, were very gracious and pleasant. One could (for five euros) have breakfast brought to one's room each morning. Breakfast was freshly squeezed orange juice, a selection of breads, butter and jam, and filtered coffee. There were many other choices on the menu, but this was fine for me. There was also a full bar.
The room was excellent, cleaned perfectly each day, quiet and pleasant. But the gardens, which Manuel takes care of, were just spectacular. There were several outdoor tables and chairs with candles, so that people could eat outside or just relax with a drink in the evening. The flowers and plants were gorgeous. Huge flowers everywhere, an absolutely magical setting.
I recommend this hotel with the highest recommendation. It was by far the loveliest place in Greece that I stayed.

I spent 5 nights in this lovely place, in the middle of October, which was during the very low season. I found this pension through Tripadvisor.com, all comments were emphasizing the friendliness of the owners, Sofia and Manolis. Due to the low season, I got a very attractive rate. Manolis was waiting for me at the pier, and bring me with his car to the pension. The rooms are perfect, clean and comfortable, the garden is indeed very nice, all is very clean. The pension may appear a little bit far away from the center the first time you drive there, but not at all: 10 mn walk along the sea brings you “downtown”.
But what I really would like to underline is the incredible friendliness and kindness of Sofia & Manolis: you can really feel that they love their place, and that they love to welcome you. They do speak many languages, and do make everything possible to make you happy. I think the most used sentence I heard from them during my stay was: if you need something, let us know, we can do it for you. They are living there with the kids and the grand-mother, you just feel at home. The breakfast is terrific, the freshly squeezed orange juice is a must. Even during the very low season, the pension was quite busy, so I really suggest you to book in advance, use their website, they will answer to you in the next hours.
Paros is by the way a great island, I discovered some very nice villages, beaches, walks in the island. In the low season, you can walk one hour without seeing anyone, you can just enjoy a great book on an empty beach, exactly what I was looking for after a stressful year of work!
Sofia & Manolis, thank you for having made my stay with you very special. Benoit

We had a wonderful stay at Sofia Pension in May 2006. Sofia and Manoli , owners of Pension Sofia in Parikia were lovely hosts. Manoli picked us up from the ferry and dropped us off at the airport for our return home. Their garden was really lovely - I imagine during the busy time it would be very welcome to be able to sit outdoors, perhaps meeting other guests and enjoying a quiet read/drink etc. The room was basic but very clean with modern new plumbing - in fact everything looked new. We had a huge balcony looking out at the harbour and it was situated one street back from the main road so very quiet.
We hopped on the local bus and toured the entire island and had a great fish meal at the fishing village of Naoussa - worth a look. It was a very relaxing part of our otherwise busy holiday. Definitely recommend a stay here and suggest contacting them via internet - great rates.
