Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at the cabin.
It was very clean and had everything we needed, we cooked our meals in the small kitchen.
The views are spectacular, and the site has a massive waterfall running right next to the tent area!
The parking spot is a bit challenging.
The staff was very welcoming. I booked 4 nights but needed only 3 and they charged me only for 3 without issues.

We stayed for a couple nights (actually extended our stay after the first night) just ahead of the busy season, and it was wonderful. Geiranger is beautiful. We stayed in one of the pods, and it was very comfortable and clean and we loved having the waterfall right nearby. The pod was well equipped with cooking equipment and dishes, as well as clean up and everything you needed to enjoy grilling right on the deck. We really appreciated having those things available!! Vinje is located about halfway between the hotels at the top of the village and the waterfront at the bottom, so very easy to go hiking in any direction.

Absolutely loved the campsite. Stayed for two nights in a tent. Though it was next to a busy road, the waterfall drowned out the noise. Kitchen, toilets and showers were good. Area was superb. Prices were reasonable. Would come again if we are in the area.

Stayed in the cabin and it was all we had hoped for. What a location! Because we were there at the end of the season it was really nice and quiet. Owners stayed in touch letting us know that done roads had been closed. Very warm welcome. Definitely worth the trip.

We had booked the Vinje Camping for 2 nights. But on the first night, we reached very late (at 1:30 a.m.). We'd informed them & they'd told that they'll leave the key in a particular place. But we misunderstood and couldn't find the key. So we had to stay at the Union for that night.

The next day we moved here ... in cottage #7. It was excellent in every way. The location is fantastic. There's a huge waterfall passing through the camping ground and a stream on another side. You can see the Geiranger Fjord from the cottage verandah directly.
The cottage had an Ensuite bathroom + you can park your car right outside.

We paid 600 Nok + 170 Nok for bed linen + towels.

The cottage was very nice with a fully equipped kitchenette. Excellent heating with a heated floor in the bathroom.
It has a very cute loft where there are 2 beds: we had a nice nap there in the afternoon.

Only complaint we have is that there was no one at the reception. But it was probably due to the end of the season. We paid 70 Nok for one cycle of laundry. When we went to the laundry room a bit later, there was no soap there. But since the reception was already locked again, we had to manage on our own.

Overall, we liked it so much that we wanted to extend one day here. But she said it was fully booked (I think they were actually closing down for the season as there was no one else but I'm not sure)

We planned to stay at this camping for 1 night, but loved the place so much that we extended for another one. The camping is located a couple of minutes' drive outside the village of Geiranger, and high enough on the hill to allow for a direct view of the fjord from the veranda of each of the cabins. The cabins themselves are quite spacious, very well equipped and with parking right outside the door. Staff is very friendly, though the reception is open in very limited hours (1 hour in the morning and 2-3 in the afternoon). Their cabins seem to get fully booked even outside the main tourist season, so book in advance.

The location is ideal: slightly remote from the busy town centre, but close enough to walk down there in 10-15 minutes. From the campground there is an amazing view of the fjord and the sites are generally super nice. The showers/toilets are brand new, and there is a convenient kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven and stove.
The best is that there is a fire pit to barbecue your salmon.

Highly recommend this campground.

We stayed in a tent, but still recommended. 2 individual showers for the men (10 kr for 6 min). Nice view of the fjord and a big waterfall! Sounds like a big fan at night though.

Stayed a night in the cabins in the low season. They were cosy, extremely comfortable and well appointed. Views were great of the Fjord and surrounding areas. With a car, great location, without one, a bit of a hike to the town. Would stay in again

This is the second time we've stayed at Vinje camping and we would love to come back the next time we visit Geiranger!
The cabins are clean, the beds are good, the view of the fjord is wonderful, the price is not bad compared to other accommodations in this area, wifi works as it should and service is good.
We recommend Vinje Camping to anyone who needs a good place to stay in Geiranger.
