Pros: Fantastic views from the hotel room (cost extra) and good location in Geiranger
Cons: Old and worn hotel. The room was extremely small and so was the bathroom. Only a top-hinged sliding door between the toilet and the bedroom. The bed mattress was extremely soft and felt like lying on a poorly inflated air mattress. Very cold in the hotel (in August) and the bathroom floor was freezing cold in the morning, which seemed to save on heating costs. Unattended hotel reception between 2300-0700. Full on the parking lot in case of late arrival. Very loud in the room and you heard guests walking across the room when the floors creaked, especially annoying when trying to sleep. No TV or fridge in the room. The lunch was very poor; small selection, hot food was cold, annoyingly small drinking glasses, empty too much of the selection (ate at 0900). In addition, there was a Covid measure where one had to use plastic gloves (but not bandages) which was very impractical and annoying. The kitchen door was open all the time to the dining room and became quite noisy.

Room Tip: If you want to stay here you must have a window to the Geiranger fjord NOT to the garden.

The highlight of this hotel is the view of the Fjord below, which is stunning. The room itself was very small, similar to a cruise ship. The bathroom was extremely small, hard to get in and shut the door, and had a musty smell so I kept the door closed. Free breakfast buffet was included in the price. The Hotel served a set dinner menus, 2 options each night and the options changed each day. I did not eat here due to the cost and limited menu. There is a lounge for drinks which is great for taking in the view. Free parking. The hotel is small and quaint which is nice because many other hotels below near the Fjord are very busy, as is the waterfront, so it is a nice escape. No elevator or bellman so you have to Carry your bags up the stairs.

I am sorry to say this, but this was overpriced. The room was ok had it been half the price. We woke up from the next rooms alarm. We could hear him take a shower and blow his nose. At dinner they only had three corses on the main menu, and it took too long to get them. Also overpriced. But the view is fantastic.

Excellent view of the fjord.
Excellent restaurant - professional staff, locally sourced ingredients, with focus on a small but frequently updated menu consisting of a meat option, a seafood option, and a vegetarian option for starters and main courses, and a choice between two desserts. A slight ding from my steak not being cooked to specification, but the waiter was quick to ask if everything was alright, and offer me a new steak cooked properly.

The rooms themselves are quite basic, and barely scrape by as 'ok' by hotel standards - the bathroom was extremely cramped and the shower hadn't been properly cleaned, but we were only there for a single night, to enjoy the view and the restaurant, so it scored a ten out of ten on the things that truly mattered to us.

Normally I'd dock a star, but I have to say my stay was still excellent, and is why I decided to return there this year, and will return again in the future.

The hotel is a traditional hotel, open for over 100 years. Regretfully, it shows in some of it’s facilities. The good point is the view from (some of) the rooms. It is a fabulous look over the Geiranger Fjord. Also the staff is extremely kind and attending. It was a wonderful area to visit and walk around.
Rooms are nice. Relatively small. Bathroom is little and it’s décor is outdated. Needs an urgent face-lifting. Restaurant manu and dishes – regretfully nothing to write home about….
The main problem is the extremely high price which does not match the grade and facilities this hotel offers.

Important pointer: Only reserve room facing the view. Otherwise, no reason to stay here

The view from the room is mountains or Geiranger but that's all about this hotel. Within driving distance of Geiranger (wouldn't recommend walking as it is uphill). Free parking. Breakfast is average but then that's Europe. Clearly whoever rated this as 3 star hotel hasn't travelled enough. Rooms, bathrooms were below standards (extremely old) and tiny. If you are on 2nd or 3rd floor, be aware there is no elevator so hopefully you don't have enough luggage. The windows had poor blackout which one would think as basic need for a star hotel. Also the curtains weren't even fitting the window so there were lights peaking in. Uncomfortable beds. It was twin beds put together.

The view is fantastic, the restaurant is excellent and the service is awesome.

But our room (top floor, front side) was old and needed restoration. Good place for two, but far too small for all four of us (family).

The main bed was great -the sleeping sofa awful. We had to lay a duvet on top of it so the kids could sleep...

All is positive except one thing and that is why it dont get 5 stars. You can hear your neighbor a bit to well. We had to hear somebody dance the bed away late at night if u know what I mean. We didnt bother to mutch and fell asleep but this could be a deal breaker for many i bet.

Breakfast, awsome, room nice and clean, view spetacular!

Very nice hotel, the room was clean and nice, the staff was smiling and made us feel welcome. Beautiful view over Geiranger, the only thing i can put my finger on was the dinner menu. I missed a real steak, and my wife missed som pork meat.

But the breakfast was excellent.
