During a road trip to the Western parts of Norway, my wife and I stayed at Grande Fjord Hotel in Geiranger. The hotel was obviously old, but nicely updated. From our room on the 5th floor, we had great views of Geiranger fjorden. The room was a little on the small side, but the beds were good and the room was clean.
We drive an electric car, and the hotel helped us charging during our stay, a treat we appriciated.
The hotel had outdoor jacuzzies, great balconies, and a small convenienece store located in the lobby.
The restaurant was beautifully located on the 6th and upper floor. The space was very delicate and looking out at the fjord and mountains while dining was a great experience.
What impressed me the most though, was their willingness to go all the way to satisfy my needs. Being dealy allergic makes dining during traveling challenging. A number of hotels on our path to the West have small kitchens which makes it difficult to serve allergy free meals. This goes for Grande Fjord Hotel as well. But where other hotels just decline my wish for dinner based on my allergies, Grande Fjord Hotel really stood up as the trips most impressive act of service. They went out and bought a new skillet and equipment so they safely could serve me a safe meal. I believe Kalim was the one who prepeard my dinner, and he did a fantastic job. The dinner was tastefully prepered, and very much appriciated.
Experiencing hotels willing to do what it takes to help their customers enjoy the stay is rare. This hotel can for sure be recomended!

This was one of our favorite hotels of our three-week Scandinavian trip. We arrived by auto to the hotel, where the manager helped us immediately remove our luggage and he parked our car. We had a lovely room facing one of the most picturesque fjords in Norway, watching a small number of boats and ferries ply the passage. The room had a small balcony to sit and relax, but even better the hotel had a jacuzzi where we met and shared stories with a few other guests. You can book various fjord tours or other terrain turs from the hotel. Breakfast was included and was quite good. The hotel sits on multiple levels, but it is easy to traverse, including a lovely bar that was tended by an entertaining Polish fellow who made us feel special.

The Grande Fjord hotel proudly upholds the beauty of the UNESCO-heritage site it stands on. The hotel strikes a rare balance between luxury and homeliness. Beyond the high-end facilities including a sun deck with loungers and jacuzzis, a small gym and a genuinely outstanding restaurant area (overlooking the fjord), we were surprised to find a self service laundry area, which came in handy after a week on the road. The breakfast was excellent, including freshly prepared omelettes and waffles and a good selection of fresh fruits (blueberries, strawberries...). Also noteworthy is the kayak rental outside the hotel which positions you nicely for an outdoor escape towards the seven sister waterfalls. We stayed in one of their rooms including patio, which face the fjord. Lovely and spacious, with a tasteful interior design (kudos for using Acqua di Parma toiletries). The only thing we would have hoped for was a real double bed but we admit having booked somewhat last minute...Well trained, polished staff were welcoming and discrete. Worth every NOK and we will definitely return and recommend to friends and relatives.

If You are thinking between Geiranger Union hotell and Grande Fjord hotell, look no further, Grande hotell beets the Union hotell both by price, quality, food and service. Hotell manager can take you to the town and pick you again by your request, it's a VIP service at no cost for youl! We were surounded by friendly staff, dinner and breakfast in a restaurant on 6 floor with delicous food and very professional staff. Our room was also very comfy with a fridge and coffee machine included. Jacuzzi is free of charge with a wonderful view to the Geiranger Fjords. Reception lady gave us tips where to go and what to visit, kayaks for rent is on site too with a most friendly instructor in the world! We love it!! Coming back next year again!

This is one of my favorite hotel stays in all my travels. This hotel is truly spectacular. It's what I really appreciate - understated luxury. Ask for a room with a view, it is one of the most spectacular views you will ever have. Rooms are gorgeous and very clean, housekeeping staff is exceptional. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious but not wasteful. They are very careful of allergies and so accommodating. The hotel also has a delightful bar area with comfy sofas and fantastic cocktails. I spent many hours there! Finally, the staff is what makes this place special. They are efficient and friendly and treat you like a special member of the family. Simon, the manager, deserves a medal for his incredible work ethic. To top it all off, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from the "town" or other nearby sights and hiking points. If you're very lucky, you will get driven by one of the hotel's Porsches that are also available to rent. I honestly did not want to leave! We will be back.

First class and impressive location by the fjord and app. 2 miles from Geiranger port/shopping area. Great selection of food at breakfast, and tasty food in the hotel restaurant. Very pleasant staff.

The double room was quite small. It is obvious that you pay for the location and the fjord view, as the room itself is average and not luxurious.

The room facing the fjord was very hot mid August. The sun heating up the room all day long. There was a small fan in the room, which helped a bit to circulate the air. There was also a small balcony. However, no air conditioning or ventilation system to keep the room cool.

Other positives; there were coffee machines with free coffee several places in the hotel. And there are several areas to sit down, relax and enjoy the view. There is an outdoor buble bath.

We came to the hotel after a long day of hiking. The restaurant was actually closed until dinner. After a short conversation with the front desk receptionist, the chef was called and he decided he could come in early and prepare lunch for our group anyway!! We had the most delicous meal and drinks! Thank you for your fantastic service level!! Your team really impressed!

We stayed 2 nights as a family of 3.
When we arrived the staff were helping us park and unload our suitcases. Very helpful!

Room was facing the fjord so it was a stunning view! Very comfortable, enough space for extra bed ( for my daughter) and bags.

Hotel use Aqua di parma for amenities!

Restaurant is on the 6th floor and it has an amazing view. Breakfast was very good.

Hotel locates 3 -4 mins (by car) away from the pier so it’s quiet and avoids crowds and tourists.

They have coffee machines everywhere, as well as a washing drying machine as well! We were travelling for 2 weeks so we needed to do the laundry, and everything worked well.

Overall, it’s a good place, calm and easy to relax from a hectic busy life.

We had a great time!

We loved our 3-night stay here at the end of August. The views from our balcony and from the restaurant were fantastic. The hot tubs were great to come back to at the end of each day. Dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent with a great selection including some very fresh fish.

Great place to stay in Geiranger.

A stunning hotel with jaw dropping views. Excellent service always and a very high quality breakfast.
A small downside was the lack of a la carte dining and they only served buffets in the evening due to low season . But this was still good quality with plenty of choice

The rooms are wonderful. Not particularly large bit with Scandinavian class and really nice finishing touches like the free nespresso machine and high end toiletries
But the views are fantastic. I recommend you get the fjord view rooms - worth the extra cost. We were able to enjoy the jacuzzi overlooking the mountains

I recommend 2 nights because Geiranger is stunning
