we were spoilt this year because of very few tourists so no cruise ships to be seen which was great. fab position on the fjord as stays lovely and sunny into the evening...all the better for the two hot tubs you can sit in and enjoy the view. our rooms were best choice for us. Breakfast we supbert...best i had in Norway, hence why we extended from 1 - 3 nights. a must is Kayaking (ask for Mimi) on fjord (weahter permitting) and try dinner at the Festeras farm up in the hills. owner and his son were also very helpful aswell.
The Grande Fjord hotel proudly upholds the beauty of the UNESCO-heritage site it stands on. The hotel strikes a rare balance between luxury and homeliness. Beyond the high-end facilities including a sun deck with loungers and jacuzzis, a small gym and a genuinely outstanding restaurant area (overlooking the fjord), we were surprised to find a self service laundry area, which came in handy after a week on the road. The breakfast was excellent, including freshly prepared omelettes and waffles and a good selection of fresh fruits (blueberries, strawberries...). Also noteworthy is the kayak rental outside the hotel which positions you nicely for an outdoor escape towards the seven sister waterfalls. We stayed in one of their rooms including patio, which face the fjord. Lovely and spacious, with a tasteful interior design (kudos for using Acqua di Parma toiletries). The only thing we would have hoped for was a real double bed but we admit having booked somewhat last minute...Well trained, polished staff were welcoming and discrete. Worth every NOK and we will definitely return and recommend to friends and relatives.…
If You are thinking between Geiranger Union hotell and Grande Fjord hotell, look no further, Grande hotell beets the Union hotell both by price, quality, food and service. Hotell manager can take you to the town and pick you again by your request, it's a VIP service at no cost for youl! We were surounded by friendly staff, dinner and breakfast in a restaurant on 6 floor with delicous food and very professional staff. Our room was also very comfy with a fridge and coffee machine included. Jacuzzi is free of charge with a wonderful view to the Geiranger Fjords. Reception lady gave us tips where to go and what to visit, kayaks for rent is on site too with a most friendly instructor in the world! We love it!! Coming back next year again!
Location- perfect, overlooking a fjord, while watching cruise ships and yachts pass by Food- breakast was delicious, so many options, and everything tasted fresh Hospitality- phenomenal, met the owner's son who is the manager/GM. What a wonderful young man, who definitely cares for his guests. Our room had a balcony overlooking the water. Hotel also has an outdoor jacuzzi, complimentary washer/dryer, and small yet manageable gym.
Our stay here was excellent! We were upgraded to a room with a view (Room 502) and it was absolutely stunning. The manager, Alexander was really helpful and very nice. The food was amazing. We had breakfast and the buffet dinner both nights we stayed and it was really good. The staff in the restaurant were also very friendly. They have a chef on the side of the buffet that will cook you up some pasta if you request it (as part of the buffet). Dessert had a large selection and they were all really good. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet, but beautiful place to stay. Free parking too.
