I'll start with the positive. The hotel grounds are beautiful. It has a lot of potential. The drinks have a good selection and the pool staff are always around providing drinks.. We booked the hotel for a babymoon a last min trip for 6 nights. We arrived on Monday was allowed to use the facilities from the moment we arrived including food and drinks. We got to our room after three and whilst it appeared lovely on initial view it wasn't. We had blood on the floor from where someone had cut their foot on a door stopper blood on the under bedsheets. Ants in our room and the sink hadn't been cleaned. We called down and it took someone 2 hours to come and sort this out.. The buffet food is the worst I have ever experienced. Is say this is an upgraded child's menu nothing fancier then that. Mostly cold and the cereal was stale. Thankfully you can book into the Italian resturant and steak House which is what we did for every evening that was slightly better just more options would have been preferable.. however this is more edible then the buffet. They have a snack back for lunch time in addition to the buffet. 3 times the ice cream self service was broken and the ice cream was slushy. The bbq area was however nice. Food again needed improvement but I have learnt this is not really their thing. The pool... don't I booked this hotel mainly as it said heated pool.....no no it's not. Its not heated at all. The manager said that there was a broken component.... Well that's been broken for the entire time we were here. It was such a shame.alas you could get in the pool which was cold but once your in your in..don't expect that to be clean either. We haven't seen one person clean the pool or attempt to clean it.. I could deal with little stones and leaves and the flying bugs. But the woodlice looking things were my limit. I wouldn't even contemplate staying here again its a straight up no. It has SOOOOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL but the staff are overwhelmed and there is an obvious reluctance to put money into this to get it to a 5 star standard they are looking for. I'd suggest this is a 3 star resort maximum

Designed for adults and children with separate areas for both in beautiful garden setting. Well maintained and peaceful with no loud musak. Perfect for oldies although the site is built on a hill so walking may be a challenge for some. My only complaint was the temperature of any hot food. Tepid at best. A week was enough food wise, but we did enjoy the ambiance and the overall experience.

I stayed for 5nights, upon arriving I was told my room wasn't ready which I accept I arrived at 11:50am with check being at 3pm. I was told I had to sit and wait at reception until the room was ready, After an hour I spoke to Vanessa in guest relations who was able to at least give me a wrist band to start using the resorts facilities while we wait for the room to be ready. This was not offered to my by anyone on reception. A few hours later the room was still not ready it was now 3pm and yet no one would communicate to me I had to keep walking down to reception to be told it's not ready. At 4pm when I went down to reception I was told the room is now finally ready. When arriving to the room the floor was still wet. I was told I would get a bottle of water everyday but I never did!!! During meal times there was very limited vegetarian options which made it increasingly difficult to enjoy any food we had to eat fruit and chips pretty much everyday. The steam room might aswell have been turned off there was no steam from it at all. There were some individuals who went above and beyond to make use feel welcome and the names are as follows: Ana cunha - guest relations Michelle - head chef Lucas - Roastic waiter Vanessa - guest relations Kathleen - host I feel very disappointed overall with the whole experience this was not something I expected from a 5* resort.

My father and I have just returned from a week's stay at the Tivoli in Alvor. Positives: - Quite a few branded drinks are offered on the basic all-inclusive package and this included a decent rosé which we enjoyed. - Cocktails were made well and consistently good. - The food quality and selection was very good. - The room was cleaned daily and the bedding changed once. - Towels were also changed daily although I don't think this was necessary. A few times in the week would have sufficed. - Pillows were comfortable. - The fridge and safe provided were functional. - A water machine in the villa block was provided which was useful for topping up on water. - All staff were friendly and helpful. - The adult-only pool was clean (if a little cold) with plenty of sunbeds to choose from. - The complimentary train service was excellent and was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel as my father has reduced mobility. Negatives: - The beds were too firm for our preference. - There was some inconsistency with topping up of water bottles in the room and also toilet paper. We sometimes had to seek out our own from elsewhere in the resort. - Toilet paper is quite poor quality for a 5 star hotel. - The biggest complaint we had was that the food was lukewarm at best despite us often being there at the very start of service. The only day when it was hot was our final evening there and we saw that either management or the owners were doing temperature checks on the food. The food should have always been served hot so it was disappointing that this was only the case when management were present and carrying out checks. - Breakfast service in particular was quite chaotic in the main buffet restaurant. - Service at the main Shore bar was slow at times. More staff are required to ensure guests are not waiting too long. - It would be helpful to have more staff approaching you to ask if you would like to order another drink rather than always having to join the queue. - Booking the a la carte restaurants was hard work. Again, the queue was long and only one person was facilitating bookings. We got told twice that we could only book for 10pm which is far too late for us. We were told that families got the earlier slots which doesn't seem fair given we were paying customers as much as families. We did eventually manage to get an 8pm slot but this was on the third attempt and after I raised the fact we kept getting offered late slots. - Evening entertainment was geared towards families and had a kind of 'Butlins' feel to it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we were lucky that the weather was great too. A few improvements to be made and this hotel will then be offering a 5 star experience.

Positives: Bartenders were amazing, helpful and quick. Culinary services were simple and fast to book. Drinks offered at all inclusive were wide and known brands unlike most all inclusive resorts. Also offered a wide range of hand made cocktails. The train from the hotel to town was awesome, runs every hour on the hour and gets into town in roughly 15mins. Negatives: If you/someone you are travelling with has a sensory disorder the food at this resort is not great. There is always pork or fish available, rarely anything other meats. There is also a lingering oder of fish on all the foods. If you are staying on the bottom floor, you may get infested with ants like we did. I had raised the issue with guest relations on our Friday day and was told “someone will come by and deal with it” but the end of the week we had more ants and they were all over our table. The hotel is beautiful, rooms and big and new very impressed. Cleaners that clean room are great always spotless. The resort is really clean. Food is not the best at all cold and same thing every evening some evenings at buffet they don’t even have ice cream for kids…. Not impressed. My kiddies are fussy eaters so cold pasta and cold chips that are sometimes not cook is a huge disappointment for a beautiful hotel. Major need for improvement on the food side. Entertainment was okish could be better the kiddies disco is the same songs every evening. We did travel here off peak but it was still mid term so maybe they will be more prepared for summer guests- hopefully Will we come back ?? Yes as the hotel is really beautiful but I hope the food improves I will keep an eye on other reviews.

Lovely hotel with very attentive service and food & drink which is a class above most other all inclusive hotels. We stayed for 4 nights early April and whilst the weather wasn’t the best the quality of the hotel more than made up for it. There’s really not much to fault here but if I were to be very picky I would say the service on the bars and reception could be a little quicker and the replenishment of the food in the buffet restaurant was also a little slow. Particular highlights for us were the al la carte restaurants the beautiful grounds and swimming pools and the quality of the rooms. Thanks Tivoli Alvor, we would love the chance to stay with you again for longer next time and perhaps with better weather.

We moved to this hotel, having been at another one, so we were delighted when we were greeted with a lovely reception and a drink. The weather was awful when we were here but still had a lovely time. I imagine in the summer when it's hot, its amazing! The Room: AMAZING. So spacious and bright. Had an outside terrace with loungers and was close to everything in block 2. Had robes and slippers. Big towels (which I love) and nice showering products. The cleaning was exceptional. My partner loved the Nespresso coffee machine in the room and always topped up on water. Only criticism from me is I felt the bed was a bit firm (but personal preference). The Hotel: The grounds are lovely, really well maintained and just a really nice resort. SPA was amazing; spent many hours here (due to the poor weather) and felt very grateful to have this space. I imagine it could get busy in peak season and not huge. Staff in the Spa were also lovely. Easy to walk to the beach over the bridge or down to the roundabout. Pools were lovely and well-maintained. Plenty of sunbeds around and sunbed service with drinks. Food/Drinks: As a picky eater with lactose intolerance, I found plenty to eat. It was hot and had lots of variety. Though it was good quality compared to all other all-inclusives. Ice cream was delicious. The drinks were great, lots of branded alcohol and white wine was good, given it was an all-inclusive. There are 3 a-la cartes, we ate at one of them and the pizza was amazing! Throughly enjoyed a more restauranty feel. Snack bar is basically a restaurant, never had such a fancy snack bar! Staff: All absolutely lovely and very attentive. Didn't really ever lift a finger. Entertainment: This was okay; I feel like it is probably much better in peak season. For example said there was live music, but it was instrumental and just a bit boring. It kind of felt like background music as opposed to the entertainment for the evening. To improve: - We had to check out at 12pm but we weren't being picked up for our transfer until 4:30 pm with our TUI package and we were told we couldn't eat, drink or use any facilities. I personally think this is really poor given we couldn't check-in on the first day. - The weather was not their fault obviously; but it would have been nice if they had tried to organise more indoor activities to get involved in as there is very little to do otherwise.

Rarely seen a hotel with so many issues and failings. Tasteless food, no variety, no description of food. No offering for activities indoors as bad weather went on for weeks. All staff totally overwhelmed by the situation. Food was very much most days the same, not had a single Portuguese specialty in a week
