The Pools & Entertainment

Just back from a 11 night stay with a squad of 9 people adults and kids and have to say the kids loved this hotel . If you're looking a genuine family based holiday then I couldn't recommend this hotel enough . The 3 pools gives the kids and adults plenty to choose from this resort between the slides and pirate ship themed pool plus and with life guards around every pool gives you a sense of safety . Good thing about this hotel is the sun loungers there's no 05:30 down putting towels out the first pool would be around 08:30 before it opens its doors which gives you time for breakfast if you wanted and the splash pools are 10am and with plenty of loungers you can time which the pool you want to attend. The animation team are always around everyday with scheduled foam parties , face painting , mini discos to entertain the children and with entertainment scheduled up to 23:30 theres always something to plan your night .

The location

Located 2 mins from the beach its hard not to visit the beach several times during your stay and the beach itself is spotless and having walked the beach everyday you get to see it cleaned and maintained plus the views are amazing so would recommend 100%. Malgrat de Mar as a town / strip is very clean as well if you like your walking during the day or the evening it's very hard to find rubbish the local council are always out and about maintaining the streets . Plus with everywhere closing at 23:30 along the strip you don't have the late night partying which you'd get from most other holidays abroad , one thing though only on a Friday and Saturday night the clubs open but we heard nothing from these clubs so don't be put of by bad reviews there .

The food

When we arrived we upgraded to all inclusive which I would recommend it's easier and more cost effective when it comes to the kids . There is the options of breakfast, lunch and dinner with more options of the snack bar for burgers , hotdogs , chips and ice cream plus drinks all day whether alcoholic or non alcoholic this can all add up . I did find the breakfast to be a bit of the same but with themed nights we all found the food to be nice .

The cleanliness

All day everyday you will not be able to go without seeing hotel staff out and about cleaning the hotel from first thing in the morning to last thing at night as far as cleanliness this hotel is 100% . With rooms cleaned daily , staircases , halls and around the pools this can't be faulted at all.

The Rooms

The rooms are basic to your needs with most having 2 double beds to suit a family of 4 only , there was 5 of us so we needed up having 2 rooms but the hotel accommodated us with 2 rooms right beside each other so we weren't spread over the hotel . The rooms are just a single room with a bathroom and no more with the exception of the balcony but it meet our needs as we didn't go to spend our holiday in the hotel room .

Would recommend this hotel to a family looking a good break away with pools and slides .

Having being used to staying in many resorts around Spain and Greece over the years, staying at the Sol Daurada was an experience.

The positives. The hotel is very clean, as are the rooms. The hotel is overall great condition with renovated interiors and outdoor pool areas. The food in the buffet restaurant was good quality if not limited by whatever the theme night was.

The kids splash park was great and the kids enjoyed is massively as well as the water slides, can't fault it. Although the main area didn't open until 10am.

The negatives. I've never stayed in a noisier resort. I can only describe it akin to a soft play centre. The restaurant was so loud, that even being all inclusive the friends group we were with (13 in total) decided to eat out for the final 3 nights. The same can be said of the only sitting/entertainment area. An open arcade area mixed with high volume entertainment and a few hundred people all trying to talk just made it unbearable. Again another reason for finding entertainment outside and only returning for bedtimes.

The hotel also has some restrictive rules like 3 drinks only at the main and pool bars, so a round of drinks for 13 took some time.

The snack bar by the pool has a dedicated eating area, eating at sunbeds was banned and policed actively by pool staff. Water refills only by cups, bottle refills "forbidden" as the sign said.

As I mentioned the splash park was great although space was very crammed for the amount of people which again made it very loud.

The rooms were OK but depending on the occupancy had limited space around beds, approx half a metre and storage space.

So overall well maintained hotel with some unusual rules and too small areas for the number of guests.

It’s a very nice hotel with fantastic pool with lots of play equipment for kids. We spent 7 nights there with all inclusive package and we really like it.

The only three things that could be better were:
1. A couple of bottles of water on arrival
2. More seafood in the menu
3. The juice from the machine was only available for breakfast (there were soft drinks, beer and wine available but our children do not drink fizzy drinks so they settled for water)

Apart from these things, everything was very good, the room was cleaned every day, the towels were changed too.

Kids entertainment in the evening was nice, especially when the ladies led the kids discos.

I’d strongly recommend this hotel to the families with smaller children but be mindful, there are lots of them! 😉 So there is absolutely no chance for peace and quiet if that’s what you are looking for.

Nonetheless, thank you very much for the support and very positive attitude from all staff.

I can't complain, it was OK for a 4 star hotel. There are pluses and minuses...
It doesn't have a private beach. If you need a sun lounger you need to pay 5 euro per day.
You can rent a pool towel for 10 euro, although we went 6 times to change them, on different days, different hours, but they never had clean ones, so better take your own.
There is no coffee before breakfast starts. But when it is available - it's the best coffee ever!
Plates and glasses are very dirty though.
There is free fresh orange juice at breakfast every day, however, the queue is very long, I only managed to get it once. They have salmon at breakfast!
Free icecream, popcorn, free fast food between meals (chips, chicken nuggets, salad, fruits, etc)
The food is tasty, I can't fault it. I really liked it and it was varied, they had prawns night, mexican night, etc.
There are plenty of slides, plenty of sun loungers by the pools. You can always find one.
Bar closes as 23:30, there is no coffee in the room, nor water bottles.
You are not allowed to fill in bottles with water, even if you are all inclusive - if you need a 1.5l bottle, you need to pay 1 euro.
Shampoo and shower gel get replenished every day.
There is baby disco and entertaining every night, and some entertaining in the afternoon.
Plenty (too many) local shops around the hotel, you can't get bored.
There is a pharmacy, pubs, hair saloons also around the hotel.

Our first inclusive holiday booked through Loveholidays. We are travelling with 10 yr old girl. I have to say everything went so smoothly from check in to check out! Be aware of the tourist tax on arrival, everyone has to pay this and they don't tell you until your checking in,only e18.00 so it won't break the bank. We stayed in room 236 so no view but we did'nt mind as its quite. The other rooms are either facing the beach or the pools and can be noisy. We chose half board, breakfast and dinner. I was happy with that though my daughter met friends who could eat what they want when they want. But snacking on food is cheap enough so unless you are a heavy drinker, half board is cheaper by far. We thought the food was great, great selection each night with special nights thrown in for good measure. Desserts galore too. We eat too much,it was great. The manager of the restaurant was very friendly and all the staff did their best with the large crowds. The room was ok,shower was lovely. If you like memory foam mattresses your sorted. Air con worked great.Room cleaned most days. We chose to rent towels each day for the pool which you get from reception for a fully refundable e20.00. There are 3 pools. My daughter is too old for the kids club and pirates pool so she spent her time between the pools with the slides and the other pool. To get a good spot in the morning, you should get in line at the entrance at around 9.45am,pool opens at 10.00am. There are good lifeguards too.

This is not a 4 star hotel. Food is terrible and cold even when the restaurant first opens. I’d be furious if I’d paid extra for all inclusive. They don’t have enough staff working and there are massive queues for food, drinks and reception. They appear to be constantly cleaning but they don’t clean anything properly. They are in rooms everyday but they don’t put clean sheets on beds, don’t wash the floors under the beds and don’t wash bathroom floors. Our shower cubicle didn’t close properly resulting in water everywhere. Towels are not changed everyday. We had to share our balcony with 8 other rooms so no privacy. Balconies are not cleaned either. Rooms are tiny with zero privacy and hardly any room for putting clothes away. You’re just crammed in there like sardines! Although the pool areas are good for kids with slides, the areas are not big enough for everyone and the pools are constantly overcrowded. Slide areas don’t open until 10 so there is a huge queue everyday to get in there with a mad dash for beds once they open. Hotel boasts sea views but ours was blocked by the roof of the entertainment area and a train track running behind it with trains running throughout the day. So unless you’re on the 3rd, 4th or 5th floor, forget a sea view. Hotel is located on the sea front but the beach is not sand, it’s shingles so if you are venturing down there you will need beach shoes. There are some bars and shops in the area but not much going on. Must visit pubs are The new crown and anchor with lovely food and nice owners, the eureka bar which is great fun and really good food, Bei Peppe is the nicest restaurant in the area for food and the black bull is lovely for food. That’s about it. Avoid the Toki Chinese restaurant as food takes ages to come out and they can’t get anything right! Most places are closed on a Monday too so be wary of that. All in all we will not be returning to this area as we have stayed in far better places for the same budget. Not a place for us unfortunately.

Stayed for 7 nights photos of room wasn’t what we got. The room was clean but very dated needs up dating as sink in bathroom was badly stained shower leaked. The fridge had missing parts no stand for luggage. The safe couldn’t be locked, very disappointing as no kettle to make tea or coffee you had to get one from reception for 20 euros which you got back you then had to get cups and spoons from the restaurant. No iron either. For 4 star this is not on. You only got coffee in the morning as the machine was turned off at lunch and dinner, food not great for 4 star. Staff worked hard some were lovely but we saw some very grumpy ones to. Very disappointed with the bar also as cocktails were served in a plastic cup as were the beers, you had to join a big queue to be served so not enough staff behind the bar. Good by the pool was ok but the way it was served was a joke they picked up a burger or sausage slapped it in a bun and then took a handful of chips and left the plate to you and served someone else didn’t Wait for you to ask for cheese, lettuce or tomato. Think this was because they were busy but why not more staff. We paid hard earned money for a good relaxing holiday but felt like we were getting all for nothing and hated to ask as it made me uncomfortable

We are coming to the end of our holiday , honestly don’t know where all the bad reviews have come from. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are great, cleaned daily . We have the shared balcony and we were dreading it but we haven’t had any problems . Don’t bring a beach towel hire one from reception you can change it as many times as you want , it’s 20 euros but you get it back when you give it back at end of stay . I have the safe as well £45 euros but get some of that bk as well. If you like a kettle in room it’s 20 euros as well but you get it bk . food wise there is something for everyone and this week we have had themed nights , American, Chinese and Mexican . Burgers and chips ect as well . The pool bar has alcohol, soft drinks , milkshakes , slushies , water and cocktails. Hot dogs , burgers , chips and nuggets ect . There is a pool for little ones with slides and water cannons ect a deeper pool with big slides and that has lifeguards who are watching all the time, another pool also. People do Que up for the pools with slides as that doesn’t open till 10am but there are loads of sunbeds less umbrella’s so you need to be quick for them. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Plenty for the young ones at night with disco ect . We would 100% come here again. We are two adults and kids aged 5, 7, 10 and 13 .

We stayed at this hotel in June 2022 and I can not fault it

The hotel itself is situated in a great spit right on the beach the rooms are a fairly good size with the rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels and beds made up also.

The hotel is spotless and cleaned daily the housekeepers work extremely hard and credit where it is due as they deserve it...

The food is good a very good choice for an all Inclusive hotel there was always something to eat!!

The hotel is all for the kids which was perfect for us

We Will definitely be going back and I highly recommend this hotel

We just left this morning after a holiday with 7 people in total. 2 families (2 adults 1 kid (11) and 2 adults 2 kids (9 and 13).
Location is fantastic, the beach is opposite and the little town is very cute. I've been trying to learn Spanish for a while now and found mornings when the locals are out in the tight streets to be a great time to experience Spanish life in this area.
The room had everything we needed and we would've been able to hire an iron if necessary. It was cleaned daily by a very friendly lady. We were on the 4th floor overlooking the sea and the central bar where evening activities were so we could sit on the balcony and watch the show, equally the soundproofing of the doors was good when we wanted an early night.
You also don't really hear the trains passing.
The food is plentiful, on occasion the dishes were not 100 % clean but there was always more to chose a different one and there were lots of friendly cleaning staff around at all times to remove the dirty dishes.
The selection of food was very good, varying slightly every night.
We did a day trio to Girona and 3 to Barcelona. The train Station is just a stones throw from the hotel. The hotel does offer excursions that price wise look very decent.
We would 100% recientemend this hotel to families, as the pool area equals a water park its fantastic with plenty attentive lifeguards at all times.
We had half board which was perfect as we don't drink much alcohol and went out a lot, abd there are many good priced food outlets nearby.
The one and only bit of criticism I'd have would be that the queues for drinks are long at times.
We hired 3 beach towels for a €10 deposit and one must've been mistakenly taken from the pool area but the staff very kindly gave us the full deposit back so that was a nice friendly touch too.

Thank you to all Sorra Duarada staff for a great holiday!
