The Royal Lodge at Symonds Yat East has an idyllic setting in the heart of the Wye Valley in an area of outstanding natural beauty where the River Wye cuts a swathe through a wooded gorge on the edge of the spectacular Royal Forest of Dean. The Lodge is nestled just below Symonds Yat Rock and stands exclusively in grounds of almost 5 acres overlooking the river. It has terraced gardens of magnolia trees and a well established wisteria. The Royal was originally built in 1876 as a Royal hunting lodge and was converted to a hotel in the 1920's. It has had a full and extensive refurbishment in 2008 and is managed by Graham Howells who has overseen the transformation and ensures that the level of service reflects the new development and idyllic location. The Royal Lodge is a great place to unwind with long relaxing walks in outstanding scenery. The hotel is also well situated to explore the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and the South Wales coast.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a weekend for our 5 year anniversary. I had booked a small double room, but upon arrival we found we have been upgraded to the oak suite. I had mentioned it was our anniversary when booking because I asked for a bottle of wine in our room when we

We would like to thank our guests for taking the time to leave us with their feedback. Unfortunately we do not own the car park in front of the hotel, in order to ensure that there is ample parking for all of our residents we do rent spaces from the owners of the car park. This is the reason that there is a parking charge, we ensure that this is detailed on all confirmation emails for reservations. Our apologies if our guests were not aware of this. We do hope that they will return to us for another visit in the future. Kind Regards, Guest Relations.

We would like to thank our guests for leaving us with their feedback. We are very sorry that they did not enjoy certain aspects of their stay and their comments will be taken on board. With regards to the breakfast on the second morning, this was the first time that we implanted our new breakfast set up in order to offer our guests more continental breakfast choices. We had included granola, fruit salad, Greek yoghurt, Croissants and Pastries. Due to this we decided to place jugs of milk on the buffet table rather than individual tables and our waiting staff would offer information about cooked breakfast rather than have menus. We do hope they will return for another visit. Kind Regards, Guest Relations.
