Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We, my wife and I have lived in Sri Lanka for quite some time. As a matter of fact travelling there few times every year as we are currently living in Bangalore, India but still thouroughly in love with the country (www.hermiens.waarbenjij.nu). Quality has a price, that is for sure. Having stayed in Dikwella Resort (next door) for several years on a row, yes, that is definitely different. But what brings you here in Dikwella? The beautiful beach and sunshine maybe? Well, that is eveywhere freely available. Staff of Jayananda as we experienced was helpful and the rooms were kept very clean. All what you need a room for was okay, you will live outside 95% of the time isnt'it? If you like Italian food, well, here is your place. Although all food prepared was of very good quality.

The main plus point about Villa Jayananda is that the rooms are very clean and comfortable, with a good size bathroom and powerful shower. Also, the hotel is located directly on a very, very quiet beach. Following on from that last point, Dikwella is a very quiet town with very little to see or do! We made the mistake of thinking this hotel was in Tangalle (it shows up on booking.com and agoda under Tangalle), but it's a good 25 minute tuc tuc ride from actual Tangalle! This was completely our mistake and not against the hotel, but definitely worth being aware of. As for the hotel, it's fairly dated and areas of it are 'unfinished'. We stayed on the third floor (top floor) and areas of the roof in the communal areas were just corrugated plastic to the open sky! The main let

Villa Jayananda is more a hotel than a B&B. It's located right on the beach, which is very pretty, but unfortunately quite dirty next to the hotel as lots of garbage washes up from the ocean and they only clean the beach right infront of the hotel. The sea here is very rough and it's impossible to have a real swim as the waves just keeps crashing and the under current is very strong. They charge extra if you want a beach towel which considering the cost of the room seems unfair. At least we could use the sun loungers free of charge and they had a great head shading system that I really liked and enjoyed. I think that considering the cost of a room it's rather over priced and not great value for money. The room itself was nice and big and had a comfortable bed and the daily

Stayed here for 4 nights in april 2014 POSITIVE Nice staff, good food, close to the beach, clean rooms with a nice view. You can do a trip to the biggest buddha staue on the island since it is nearby NEGATIVE: Close to the street so quite noise inside the room. And there were some constructions going on. And it is difficult to use public transport which is a main problem throughout the island in general

The hotel is in an art deco style and the staff are friendly and helpful. We arrived when the restaurant was closed but after explaining we had been travelling since 6am they made us delicious egg and chips. The restaurant does not open until 7.30 for dinner which is a bit late for us. the hotel is clean, our room is a nice size, clean and our bed is comfortable and clean and has a mosquito net around it but as we are at the front of the hotel away from the garden we didn’t need it. The aircon is efficient and quiet. The bathroom is small but modern and adequate. The shower is hot and powerful. The hotel is set in pretty grounds that lead directly onto the beach. Sunbeds and parasols are available for no cost– the beach is a cove and quiet. Breakfast was not included in the

Small but very cosy hotel. It is located directlz on the beach. The food is good and fresh. Order grilled fish! The best grilled fish with home made chutney I have ever had. Fresh catch of the day. Very friendly staff. The bed linen and towels smell like flowers. AWESOME.

My mum and I came here for Christmas and had a great introduction to the place with a lovely evening of Calypso music and cocktails on the beach. The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful and Aruna the owner is great. The beach and the sea are heavenly. Can't recommend this place enough. Also the beds are really comfy! It's well worth exploring the local town (particularly Nilanka Bakery) with friendly residents and the temples nearby. Enjoy!

We stayed at Villa Jayananda for 10 days in February 2012. Very cozy place with nice garden in front of it. 10 metres from the beach (with beach chairs and umbrellas). Breakfast isn't various (coffee, eggs, fresh juice and fruits). Friendly staff and sociable owner. We had a great time :)
